Cross post from MapleSanbox.ca: Angry Against America in London, ON, Canada
Thanks, Lynne for hosting and for Native American for speaking up on how FATCA affects his family and others, much more than monetarily!
Our Fourth of July Bash of FATCA and USA in London Ontario caught the attention of the local CTV station.They learned about the bash by one of my tweets and a link to Maple Sandbox.
It is fitting that the first public release and reading of the Maple Brock Sovereignty Alliance Declaration of Independence happened in a London named by United Empire Loyalists for the London that was home to the King who caused the Revolutionary War for very similar reasons.
We were the lead story on the 6:00 news and will likely be on the 11:00 tonight.
Here is Angry Against America;
Reporter Sean Irvine captured the story well. What would normally be a 90 second story was expanded to over three minutes. Sean reported on our plans to launch legal action and stressed we need $$$ first.
He also profiled our Declaration of Independence.
Good stuff but it’s been eerily silent since the the flurry of media attention around July 1st…
@ Bubblebustin
(Yes, same as plain “Em”. The “Bee” is for Brock AND a critter which is very special to me — just like Brock is.)
Unfortunately the post “Black Days in July” silence is what I expected and even more unfortunately the articles and media coverage in the future will be of people who have had their life savings threatened by the IRS and in many cases wiped out.
We need more publicity. I wonder if John Oliver could be contacted.. He has a way to present the ridiculous of the US government and media.
@ northernstar
Oliver would be wonderful. Rick Mercer used to do wonderful, funny explanations of complex things things with just slides and a pointer. It would be amazing to have somebody like them to shine a spotlight on the absurdity of all this. But I have no idea how to contact anyone like this or how one could convince them to do something.
@Kathy
Have you seen the Rick Mercer skit on FATCA?

@bubblebustin
Thanks for that. Hadn’t seen it. Not one of his finest. He missed an opportunity to reuse his “Talking To Americans” schtick from This Hour Has 22 Minutes! I used to love that. My favourite was when he convinced then Governor Mike Huckabee that Canada’s “national igloo” was melting.
the canadian flag flying outside of my home will be upside down until we win the court challenge 🙂
Lol, Kathy. Is it one of his skits where he was talking to George Bush about Canada’s prime minister Jean Poutine?
My wife and I went out for a celebratory lunch on Friday.
To celebrate Independence from the US Day !
Congratulations to you and your wife, CanCan!
@ Bubblebustin
I found the link on YouTube. Rick was visiting Little Rock and talking to people about Canada’s “national igloo” which was melting because of global warming. It ends with Huckabee who was governor at the time.

That Mercer piece is hilarious. I just got back from Little Rock btw, trust me they are not all that ill informed about Canada! hahaha. Matter of fact my dad lives there and knows a hell of a lot of Canadian history more, than I do. I got schooled on the entire history of Fort Henry when I mentioned it.
Wish we could enlist Mercer in a talking to Americans piece on FATCA which would be amazing! Maybe he could talk to someone at IRS or Treasury too? Would be hilarious! Something funny and with impact should come out of all of this.
@ atticusincanada
I could use some humour right about now.
