UPDATE: Sorry folks, the interview wasn’t yesterday, but will air today (March 5) at 4:15 pm Pacific; 7:15 Eastern.
Thanks to the persistence of one read at Isaac Brock, I spoke with Jon McComb of Vancouver’s CKNW, and the interview will play on the live stream at 20:35 Eastern / 17:35 Pacific Time. Subject: FATCA and its impact on so-called US persons in Canada.
Afterwards, the show is available here: http://www.cknw.com/the-world-today/
He doesn’t get it:
… starting at 1:14:15 ….

… we don’t control what foreign banks do …
Here are the talking points that I prepared, but the interview took another course following Jon’s questions:
Isaac Brock Society provides a place where people can get information about how to protect themselves from the US invasion of Canada and the rest of the world. We do this because the Harper government refuses to stand up to the US and to protect its citizens.
What are the some of the problems with Flaherty’s agreement w/ the USA to implement FATCA in Canada:
1. Strips Canadians of French language rights: the entire US tax code is in English. Yet Flaherty’s agreement permits to tax certain Canadians no matter where they live in Canada. The IRS uses a crown corporation to disseminate their tax bills to so-called US citizens. Thus, I think it should be open to a complaint under the Official Languages Act, as Canada Post is violating French language rights by disseminating IRS material. The US is robbing the Canadian tax base and using Canada Post to do it.
2. Strips some aboriginals in Canada of their tax exempt status as a treaty right. The US taxes aboriginal people the same as all other Americans.
3. Allows the US fiction regarding the residency of a person: some Canadian residents according to the agreement that Flaherty signed are “US tax residents” even if they are tax residents in another jurisdiction. This is a form of extraordinary rendition.
4. Strips (de facto) as many as 1 million Canadians of their Canadian citizenship: i.e., it removes their right to protection from the aggression of a foreign government, while they are in Canada.
5. Violates the rights of certain Canadians not to experience National Origin discrimination. The federal government isn’t supposed to do this under Charter of Rights and Freedoms article 15.
6. E.g., of how this works out in principle, Canadians will pay taxes to the IRS: A long time Vancouver resident sold her house and paid the IRS $70,000 in taxes fines and interest. That money goes to Washington to be squandered on American health care, welfare and militarism around the world.
I’ll be listening (6:35PM Mountain Standard Time). There’s also the Audio Vault for anyone who misses it. Select DATE, TIME (Pacific Standard Time) and press LISTEN.

Jon is a dual and is on our side. He was at the Vancouver meeting. He also said on air today that he will be doing a story again, maybe this is what he meant? He is the most popular talk show host in Vancouver on the only talk radio show. He did a piece on FATCRAP 2 weeks ago and it was very good.
Yup, we are DOOMED
1 in 10 Americans think HTML is an STD, study finds

Well in Madrid be careful of STD. I trust Petros to lead us though these stormy waters of the North Sea.
Been listening 30 minutes so far and no Petros. I’m a bit weary of hearing about a $50K computer screen for BC’s house speaker, goalie Luongo and traffic reports. Hopefully in the next hour ….
Listening here too!!
Well at least Jon did a good interview with Scott Taylor re: the Ukraine. Conclusion: Baird is a joke — I can certainly agree with that! Maybe Petros will be in the NEXT hour.
Guess he is not on tonight?
Nope, not in the next hour either because now it’s another show. Did I miss it? Was it before I started listening (17:35 Pacific Time)? @ Petros — what’s up?
Dunno, will ask them.
I’ve updated the post. The interview will be at 4:15 Pacific today –Jon McComb messaged me.
Thank you Petros!
I listened from the Audio Vault (I was napping while it was live on the air). The introduction by Jon is excellent (around 9 min mark) and your interview (around 15 min mark) will certainly direct people to the Isaac Brock Society. Way too short though, way too short.
http://www.cknw.com/audio-vault/ (Select March 5, 4PM and listen)
I am ECSTATIC about this. I lobbied him for 6 months to tackle this issue. I couldn’t be happier , not at all. Probably 100,000 people +/- in BC heard this at rush hour. By tonight every American in the Vancouver / Victoria area has heard FATCA slammed.
BRAVO JON …….. He just handed us a HUGE victory in the public opinion arena
I gotta sit down and have a drink, too exciting
Em, I put them together ;-))))
@ ChearsBigEars
Thanks! Maybe next time Jon can interview you. We need more next times. I was really impressed with Jon’s accurate portrayal of FATCA.
I have phoned on his show before. I’m trying to get John Richardson together with him on air. Jon was talking to John at the Vancouver seminar but didn’t know who he was. If Jon keeps this issue hot, it will do everyone a lot of good. We need to phone in and keep the subject alive and growing. If Jon is reading this we all want to thank you for outing the traitors in our government who have the nerve to call themselves Canadians. Shame on them and as far as I’m concerned, and I hope others share this sentiment, you are a modern day hero for Canada.
Absolutely would love to hear Jon interview John. I too hope he pops in here to read here. If so — Thank you Jon!
@Em, Chears, I did send an email recommending both John Richardson and Allison Christians.
What an articulate and informed segment.
In some regions, try March 5th, 2014, starting at 6 pm Track#1, 8:26.
I (in Calgary if that makes any difference) get it at the following:
At http://www.cknw.com/the-world-today/
Wednesday, March 5, 2014, Hour 2 — Monologue then Peter Dunn
also Monologue by Jon McComb at beginning of Hour 4
WOW !!!!! what a great interview and plug for this website. money could not buy that kind of air time on this issue
congrats to all who worked on pulling that one off
mettleman,
And, let’s hope there will be more like this there — and elsewhere. Jon McComb at CKNW sounded pretty committed to me — and great at a drive-home-from-work time slot. ChearsBigEars is the one who we can thank for this — and of course Petros for his part in Hour 2.
@Mettleman, Yes, we have ChearsBigBears to thank because he is the one who brought my name and the Isaac Brock Society to the attention of Jon McComb.
