Media and Blog Articles – Part 1 of 11 (to 26 May 2015)
You can access all years at this link:

EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.

FATCA: Creating a record number of expatriations and dethroning the US dollar. Fine job Carl Levin. You’re quite the economist or should I say, quite the communist.
Its becoming the fact of life… if there is any kind of americanism on u.. hide it… or get rid of it… this train wreck keeps on picking up speed & no one knows about it… except for a minor group

From the Toronto Sun– Ted Cruz is no longer on of us!
http://www.torontosun.com/2014/06/10/us-senator-ted-cruz-no-longer-a-canadian-citizen
My comment:
Today, parliament is giving 3rd reading to the law enabling the FATCA IGA. As a dual US-Canadian citizen living in Canada, as of July 1st, the Canadian government will turn my private banking information over to the US.
Question (I know the answer)– how do I get rid of my unwanted US citizenship? The US won’t let me relinquish it. How does this compare to the process required for Mr. Cruz to get rid of his unwanted Canadian citizenship?
Bonus question: By what date is Mr. Cruz required to submit his final Canadian tax return?

“Treat all Canadian citizens equally under the law”
Globe editorial about FATCA? Nope! Deserves some comments!
@BC Doc
I guess it’s hard for the media to muster up much sympathy for Americans, as we are largely perceived as having an advantage over ‘regular’ Canadians. After all, who wouldn’t want to be an American?
@Bubblebustin
My answer to your question… ME.
And, here we have another answer from usx:

New article at Financial Post, “For Americans in Canada Another Tax Deadline Looms”
http://business.financialpost.com/2014/06/10/for-americans-in-canada-another-tax-deadline-looms/
“No one outside the United States loves Americans, and least of all anti-Americans forevermore tainted with their own US personhood.”
Good snarky jab from USX
@USxC @FromtheW
Yes, I am loving that line also. Can I copy and paste it everywhere? I’m thinking a tee in many colours would be great for my wardrobe. (Just not wear it in the bank).
I am still up for a HUGE loud protest someplace. I can be in Toronto on July 1.
