Hi everyone,
Last night I saw a statement of Brady published in Politico on his latest on tax reform. The last sentences is truly encouraging. The article is below. I understand “letting them pay taxes only where they live” to indicate RBT. Since the Ways and Means has announced that it will publish its legislative draft next week, the language is most likely already determined. There have been several proposals for tax reform of Americans abroad from various organisations. Let’s all get behind whatever Congress comes up with and show a united front. This is a one chance in a lifetime to improve the situation of Americans abroad. Please activate your networks in this sense.
Best,
Jackie Bugnion
This was at the end of a POLITICO e-mail, sent 25 October.
He[Brady] said the committee is considering an issue dear to U.S. citizens living abroad — letting them pay taxes only where they live — though no decision has been made.
Some additional e-mail trail, I will not disclose sender:
Just listening to Ari Fleischer on TV about the tax reform bill and he said something that I wasn’t aware of, but some of you might be: He said that once the bill comes out of W&M Committee it goes directly to a floor vote. There are no floor amendments or changes permitted. Thought this is something to look for.
Hi all…..something to know about pertaining to the Manafort indictment……..appears its form crime with FBARs;
http://www.nationalreview.com/article/453244/manafort-indictment-no-signs-trump-russia-collusion
I’ve been wondering, given today’s none too surprising news, if future revelations about Manafort and his ilk stashing money offshore might not work against attempts to reduce FATCA’s reach.
I still want to see Trump and all his cronies cast into a fiery pit of lava for all eternity, but it would suck if tax relief for non-residents was sideswiped in the bargain.

I was reading about Chairman Brady – he seems like a straight shooter. We might know our fate on November 1. Crossing every finger and toe.
@George (GB)
It is ironic that Manafort’s lawyer was one of the main DOJ tax lawyers who pulled FBAR out of the woodwork and started clubbing people over the head with it during the UBS scandal. Before that time, nobody had ever heard about FBAR.
@Bob
Indeed it is.

Mueller is a genius. This is trumps plan to abolish FATCA. Clinton’s will support FATCA repeal for sure now as the Nuclear Bribery scandal closes in on ALL politicians with undeclared offshore assets. Keep in mind that Clinton’s could not have filed FBARS on the value of the uranium the US owned which was from Kazakhstan originally acquired through a bribe to Guistra for helping Clintons acquire the uranium then sold to Russia for a 160 million dollar donation to the Clinton Foundation. Funneling the uranium through Canada without filing FBARS puts Clintons in jail. For them to file FBARS would be the very worst optics for Crooked Hillary. There is a 100% chance FATCA will be repealed by XMAS. 200% chance the Clinton mob will be jailed by April.
Who hates Trump now? You won’t in a few weeks.
Nononymous you have absolutely zero understanding of what’s going down
I’ll take that bet…
“He[Brady] said the committee is considering an issue dear to U.S. citizens living abroad — letting them pay taxes only where they live — though no decision has been made.”
Well…that’s certainly gonna piss the 99%rs off. They all seem to think we’re made of millions of dollars that we’re just hiding abroad. ~dripping sarcasm~ Tell that to my wife who barely made $15K last year.
Yeah…where’s the fucking millions that I’m supposed to have, huh?
Regardless of the decision; I’m going to put this out right here and right fucking now.
After eight fucking years of this nightmare bullshit. I HATE ALL HOMELANDER AMERICANS. And it ain’t going to stop just because of a decision that comes about eight years after Obama put it through knowing full well that he was persecuting people without the means to pay it.
Full moon tonight?
You got anything other than a sarcastic comment, Nononymous? Maybe you got bucks to get compliant, but my wife doesn’t. And I’m a Canadian who has had about enough of this FATCA Bullshit that I can personally take.
I’m just waiting for the day that the so-called “American Empire” circles the toilet drain and gets flushed.
Now if you don’t have anything else to say… go fuck yourself.
Ah- lets not go off on each other. Lets save all the frustration, anguish and the aggressions for the perps.
We are all on the same page. And I especially came on this thread to read what the Animal had to say because he is so aptly named! It is like his rage scratches my itch. LOL
Time for this injustice ( and so many others) to END. ( I am thinking of the Harvey Weinsteins at the same time.)
I just went on to C-SPAN to see what was going on in the debate on the 25th of October 6 days ago now and the Democratic dumbasses were still drumming the “wealthy Americans abroad” bullshit and trying to get the bill killed.

I don’t know what’s happened since, considering the fact that it is now October 31st, 2017. Frankly NO idea. But I’m hoping that it isn’t a Hallowe’en NIGHTMARE.

Had to sit through a pile of Congressmen fellating their fellow Congressmen with more bullshit pats on the back…till it almost made me want to throw up. I’m surprised ANYTHING gets accomplished in this circus.
THANK YOU, MR. SPEAKER. MUCH HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT THE TUMULTUOUS TIMES WHICH WE LIVE. IT’S TRUE, WE DO FACE ENORMOUS CHALLENGES. I WOULD LIKE TREE MIND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE OF THE THINGS THAT WILL GET US THROUGH THESE TIMES. MY PARENTS WERE PART OF THE GREATEST GENERATION. MY FATHER WAS A PILOT IN WORLD WAR II AND I’M HONORED TO WEAR HIS AIR FORCE WINGS. MY MOTHER WAS A MOTHER OF 10 AMAZING CHILDREN, MANY OF WHICH ARE WITH ME TODAY. THEY ARE THE BEST FRIENDS I HAVE EVER HAD. OUR PARENTS TAUGHT US SOMETHING THAT EACH OF US HAS EMBROIDERED AND HANGS ON OUR INDIVIDUAL FAMILY WALLS AND IT IS THIS, OUR FAMILY’S TODAY. MOTTO IS, DUTY, HONOR, SERVICE TO GOD, FAMILY, AND COUNTRY. WE’RE AS ABRAHAM LINCOLN SAID, THE LAST BEST HOPE ON EARTH.
HOLY BLOODY HECK!!! ~slamming my head against a wall. Does anyone want to listen to any more self-congratulatory back slapping? GET THE FUCK ON WITH IT?

I don’t see anything here about a resolution to our problems. So exactly what was accomplished?
“I WOULD LIKE TREE MIND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE”
You can take the American people out of their tree, but you can’t take the tree out of the American people’s mind.
@ the animal
You often put many of our unspoken frustrations into words, but you really can’t stereotype all homelanders, they have been fed on the honeydew of American exceptionalism. Heck, I bought it when I first went to the US on a one year sabbatical 30 years ago and it took me many years to see through it. Most US citizens have never left the US and are still fed this drug. My own kids who still live there understand but don’t want to talk about, there is nothing we can do they say, we have to get on with our lives and jobs.
Perhaps it has to implode as other civilizations have done in the past, but I don’t wish ill on those who through no fault of their own buy this garbage.
heidi, after 8 years of this bullshit, my sympathy for the “American people” has been tapped dry. I just don’t fucking care any more about homelanders PERIOD. I frankly don’t give a shit if they live or die. My attitude is “GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY WALLET!”
If they want sympathy, they can find it in the dictionary. Just look between the words: SHIT and SYPHILIS.
“you really can’t stereotype all homelanders”
How does that differ from homelanders stereotyping diaspora?
Oh wait, I see. This would be stooping to their level; that’s why we can’t do it.
Patricia Moon – thanks for those links. Very interesting.
And in the meantime the US has acquired a new IRS Commissioner and a new Treasury Secretary, both with offshore history.
I wonder what’s really going on behind the scenes.
@norman
We have had the pleasure of being educated.

John Podesta’s brother bites the dust:

“The indictment describes a cozy, coordinated relationship between Manafort, Ukraine’s Putin-friendly president Viktor Yanukovych, and two unnamed Washington lobbying firms, beginning in 2012. Lobbying disclosure forms show that the Podesta Group and Mercury LLC, two powerful Washington firms, started working alongside Manafort that year, and with the European Centre for Modern Ukraine –– a group the indictment describes as a cut-out for the Yanukovych government.

~evil grin~ I don’t mind… really. I’m willing to get in the gutter…and sling shit back at them.
We live in interesting times. Let’s give the Trump administration a chance but keep the pressure on them. There is no point in fighting here; this is our sanctuary.
