Hello Brockers!
As you all know, we will soon be hitting crunch time for our legal bill, that comes due on November 1st. I know many of you feel that you would like to be able to do more, along with digging into your pockets for your hard earned cash.
Therefore, I am putting together a small social media toolkit for those of you on Twitter and Facebook. Please post and repost these images (links below) widely, and ask all your friends to share, share, share (and donate as well)!
Here is some sample text that you could use in the posts, but please feel free to use your own words and be sure to include the link to our website:
YOU CAN HELP DEFEND Canada’s sovereignty. Don’t allow the US Treasury to dictate our laws here in Canada! Help Ginny and Gwen fight the Canadian government capitulation to #FATCA. Please DONATE to the legal fund at www.adcs-adsc.ca. Thank you!
The first link needs a password.
@kermitzii – it is fixed
Perhaps good to have URL of articles AND URL of pictures (a separate IBS page for each image? Is there an e-mail address we may send these in to IBS? So they may be posted somewhere?

There have been a few good images floating around Twitter:
Keith Redmond on Twitter has tweeted a few pictures. Need to figure out how to strip out the pictures: https://twitter.com/kred65/media?lang=en
This is one I have been promoting lately:
FATCA antifamily.

I would not mind articles such as FATCA is anti Pensioner, Republicans Abroad tweeted FATCA is anti Teacher (but no follow through with article or statistics).
Thanks, Gwen! I put a link to this on the Anti-FATCA Publicity and Protest Materials page under “Take Action!” in the sidebar.
cool! Thanks Pacifica!
Nice work, GwEvil, thanks.
Thank you GwEvil. Lovely work once again. I WILL spread these pictures around my contacts around the world … I pray that some of them will contribute … nothing tried, nothing gained.
I do not tweet/twitter. I am not connected with Facebook or Linked-in or any other such social media sites. However, in an attempt to connect with others, I have just posted a Kijiji ad in 10 Ontario cities (under the “Community – Discussions” section). Here is the text. Perhaps others in other provinces could similarly spread the word there? Every little connection helps…..
SEEKING US PERSONS IN CANADA (one of the alternate headings: US folks – do you need more info on FATCA?)
Hello there – –
Are you a US citizen living in Canada?
Was one of your parents born in the US?
Are you US/Canadian dual citizen?
Maybe an “Accidental American”?
Are you married to – – or a business partner of – – a “US Person”?
Are you a Snowbird who might be staying in the US too long?
Do you have a US Greencard that you no longer use but haven’t fully renounced?
What do you know about FATCA effecting your life and finances?
The Isaacbrocksociety.ca has, for the last few years, been making a strong continued effort to connect with and inform such individuals about their rights, risks and options. Additionally, we are supporting efforts to raise Canadian’s awareness regarding Canada’s FATCA IGA, which now has legalized a 2nd class citizenship in Canada (some with financial privacy rights and others with none based on national background or origin).
Please join us for lively and informative discussions on these complex and often serious issues. Your questions will be answered and your input will be appreciated!
I’ve included a jpeg of FATCA in US flag colors, a jpeg of the Canadian Charter of rights and Freedoms and, sometimes, a jpeg of a paper with the word “privacy” being shredded. If you want, I can send you these. I started posting yesterday and now there have been 24 visits, all still on page 1 for this “Discussion” section.
@All
Yesterday morning I posted more Kijiji ads in Ontario (in the Community-Discussions sections of about 12 cities),. In the 24 hours since these ads went up, there have been over 100 visits!!!! The city with the most visits is Thunder Bay (34 people checked out the ad in less than a day) – – who would have expected that?!?!?!?!?!
Anyone from IBS willing to do some Kijiji posting in other provinces? Please join in and help spread the word.
Another Brocker has generously posted in Alberta, but other provinces could use this form of advertisement and maybe connect with some other folks with “US-ness” who are newbies (or newbies to IBS and ADCS). Let me know if you will post in your province; I can provide some jpeg images and you can see my recent text at
http://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1027392299.
Kijiji CAN be a form of social media that is not under Canadian SPAM legislation …..
