I made the following comment at the American Thinker, which has lately published a spate of articles saying that Ron Paul is a nut case. I ask, what could be more insane than $1.5 trillion deficits with no end in sight? Of course, I won’t be voting in the next election.
A response to the article by Don Feder, To Get Ron Paul’s Insanity, You Have To Understand Libertarianism :
My understanding of libertarians is that they respect private property rights, life and liberty. That would be respect for the commands, “Thou shalt not steal” and “Thou shalt not kill”. Marxists, however, disrespect all the commands. That to me is a big difference. But I don’t see my problems changing with a Republican (except perhaps R. Paul) in the White House. The IRS will still be there to harass me and my fellow U.S. persons abroad.
I have come to consider myself a small “l” libertarian, and no longer a big “r” Republican. Why? Because under the policies of Republicans and Democrats (1970 Bank Secrecy Act; 1996 Reed Amendment; 2004 Jobs Act; 2008 HEART Act; 2010 HIRE Act), I, along with my fellow U.S. persons abroad and many legal immigrants resident in the United States, am being persecuted for having bank accounts and am being hounded for unfair, unconstitutional taxes (see Isaac Brock Society). Therefore, on 28 February I gave up my United States citizenship. Many of us are suffering here in Canada and abroad, thanks to this crackdown. FATCA will make it much worse. Is Ron Paul a nut case? Well, you have tried the Marxist Obama. You’ve tried the Republicans in House. Don’t you think that the proof is in the pudding? $1.5 trillion deficits from here to eternity will lead to the absolute debasement of your dollar when it is finally and utterly rejected as the world’s reserve currency. Isn’t that insane? Well, yeah! And you go about blithely arguing which Democrat or which Republican will lead the U.S. in the world as the dollar goes down the toilet, while Paul is the only one who wants to deal with the elephant in the room. The investor Marc Faber says that the next thing is war. The crackdown on innocent Americans abroad is the beginning of demagogic solutions to the fiscal INSANITY of the Republican House, the Senate and the President, which will lead eventually to the invasion of Canada where I live, to access our resources and to make us former citizens pay our fair share (and the rest of Canadians for that matter). You know, Ron Paul is looking really good to me. The others, Newt, Romney? Not so much.
Ron Paul makes too much sense, so the establishment will never let him win. I’m just glad that after renouncing, I’ll never have to worry about things back in that place again.
Petros, did you file that final IRS form? I think that should be necessary, even for reliquishment. Otherwise, you may still be on the books.
Invasion of Canada? I don’t think that is likely. But want to have CONTROL over Canada and the world banking system, that’s what FACTA is all about.
See these two posts (so far) http://isaacbrocksociety.com/tag/form-8854/
I consider the form unconstitutional and as I have no assets in the states, I am tempted to tell the IRS where they can put it.
Here is an excerpt from a post by Foxyladyhawk that resonated with me:
“I grew up in America and I still believe in the principles it once stood for. My political views have been shaped by the incomparable words in the Declaration of Independence and the Gettysburg Address. I believe the Constitution of the United States to be one of the finest documents ever written, because it answers the hardest question we face as a species: how should we live with one another?”
I absolutely agree with her sentiments. The Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States, and Gettysburg Address are fine documents in theory. In order for their lofty ideals and objectives to be realized, the government must be in the hands of people who believe in them. Specifically, the government must be composed of people who believe in the principles of freedom and democracy. The principles of freedom and democracy require vigilance and work to maintain. The people and government of the United States (and most other countries) no longer understand, believe in, or value freedom. This is clearly evident when one considers the candidates for president. The simple truth is that Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate who values freedom. Therefore, the next election is really a referendum on whether we want a United States that is premised on freedom and democracy or not.
So, the way I see it:
If you value your freedom, vote Ron Paul.
If you don’t value your freedom then vote for anybody else.
Look at this YouTube video which defines the most important issue of our time.. To be uncomfortable with Ron Paul is to be unwilling to accept the personal responsibility that freedom requires.
In included this video in a related post on my own blog at:

Also, here is a post with a Gettysburg address video:

Sorry for all the links – but I really believe that this is most important issue of our time.
Thanks for the comment. No need to apologize. We are far from reaching our space limit. 🙂
Ron Paul was largely ignored until he started gaining ground in Iowa. Now the press is in full-throated pursuit and like every other rising Republican candidate so far in this ridiculous campaign, Ron Paul is demonized and his hidden flaws “exposed”. This time the press has the trifecta – Ron Paul is a racist, an anti-semite, and a gay-basher.

What more could the press want? Since they really don’t want the truth. The other candidates can run away from Paul in three directions! What this reveals above all, apart from the usual teeny-bopper mentality of the press, is that campaigns have nothing to offer the people anymore. Campaigns have become just another module of Survivor, complete with “who’s being voted off the island this week?” Every candidate that looked as if they might be the one who could excite the electorate and defeat Obama has been subjected to the same evisceration once they’ve hit the peak. Every single one.
It’s enough to make one wonder if someone is planning the whole thing…
It’s another of the many reasons I want to renounce my US citizenship — the whole US political fiasco is an embarrassment. The media for people seems to be more of an entertainment (i.e., who will be voted off the island?) than an important information tool. But then, I’m one of those Canadian grandma’s that the US Ambassador to Canada referred to, getting more and more cynical in my advanced age.
Just now came across this:
http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/article/gop-will-take-gloves-if-ron-paul-wins-iowa/264111
Published just twelve days ago, this writer correctly predicted the media avalanche against Paul but did not figure it would come before the results of Iowa were in.
Interestingly he reminds us that this is almost precisely what the Republican establishment did to Pat Buchanan after he won New Hampshire in 1996. Buchanan was painted as a racist, a Jew-hater, and an isolationist. History is repeating itself. The establishment wants Romney and they don’t care who they have to destroy to get what they want.
No need to invade Canada, they will just annex it, together with Mexico.
Here’s the plan to do it published by the Council on Foreign Relations as requested by Bush:

Scary stuff, and its happening right under everyone’s nose.
