As I watch this video, I am reminded of the horrible horrible IRS abuse of Americans abroad. Also reminds of Badger’s suggestion for Americans Abroad.
Really, they should all just “have a Geithner”.

American Citizens Abroad continues its advocacy for Americans Abroad with its latest submission to the Senate Finance Committee. As noted on this blog, submissions to the Senate Finance Committee are due on by January 17. Of particular interest is the reference to and discussion of Canada’s Departure Tax as a possible replacement for the draconian and punitive 877A Exit Tax Rules.
Another Huffington Post article out last night on Expats and renouncing. This is the 3rd in a very short period of time. I only had time for couple short comments late last night in reply to someone else. I am off this tomorrow for an across state trip, and won’t be back to Seattle until late last night for more responses. I am re-posting this from a comment I made earlier for better visibility. Hope others can weigh in. I see Eric has made 3 comments before I went to bed, and I see some others in a quick peruse this AM. Got to run.

The story prompted the usual “Don’t let the Door Hit you in the ass” type comment, and I posted a response. Others are welcome to join in. Educating those poor ignorant Homelanders by one comment at a time is hard work, but we need to be persistent, IMHO

Global Post, a news feeder organization for PBS and NPR ran a story with this headline a couple days ago that caught my attention.
BANGKOK, Thailand — There is no variety of American voter quite so unreliable as expatriates. They vote far less frequently than even teenagers and high-school dropouts. When it comes to campaign contributions, they donate less than 1 percent of the total haul.
I thought it rated at least a short comment. There are only 3. Maybe some of you will think so too. Maybe you can explain why you are sooo lazy, or not! 🙂
