@ Blaze
I’m very sorry to read of your mother’s passing today. You said at Maple Sandbox that she lived a simple, quiet life and that she touched the lives of many. She also gave us you, her treasured daughter, who in turn has touched our lives and carried our concerns to the media with the courage and verbal adeptness that must have been instilled in you by her. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
What a beautiful tribute to Blaze’s mom, Em, and so true. We’re with you now, Lynne, in this time of such a loss to you. Take care.
Great resource.
I just thought I’d pass this along from the Maple Sandbox. I read there every day but in order to keep some semblance of comment order in my head I only comment here at Brock. Blaze is a heroine to all of us at Brock and the Sandbox.
Thank you everyone for your condolences. I am leaving soon to go to Pennsylvania for my mother’s funeral.
Her obituary said “Helen inherited her feisty, stubborn and independent genes from her mother and passed them on directly to her two daughters.”
And don’t we all know that. Blaze is the epitome of feisty. Safe journey, Blaze.

A Brocker’s question gets answered in the Ask an Expert section of the Wall Street Journal’s Expat section:

Information every *US Person* who lives abroad and owns a home needs for future reference — who knew? Legal interpretation for *US Persons* definitely needed before selling in many cities in Canada.

At the risk of self promotion. There should be a link to my story about expatriating by traveling to Mexico on this list as well.

Hi Rocky,
Absolutely you belong on this thread. Have you received your CLN yet? Truthfully I had forgotten this thread existed. There’s the link over in the righthand column and I even made the first comment. Doh!
Thanks for the reminder, Rocky! I added it to the list.
@ All. If you are interviewed in an article/video or write one that is published or if you see an article/video about or by a Brocker in the news, please do post a comment here. That’ll make sure it gets on the list. Thanks.
Hi Embee,
I have not received my CLN yet. I am not expecting it anytime soon. I just have put it on the back burner. I don’t have the time and energy to worry about it. It will show up when it shows up.
@ Pacifica777
Thanks for the inclusion.
Cheers,
Rocky
My question was published in the WSJ in the ask the expert section. I was disappointed that they think the need to file the informational forms and it’s associated risk not to be a real problem. They also think there is no real chance this will change.
http://blogs.wsj.com/expat/2015/01/08/ask-an-expert-how-to-handle-the-foreign-pension-limbo/
I guess as far as tax pros are concerned tax form complexity is a good thing.
Date of article at the top of the list should be 2015, not 2014
Thanks, Barbara. Fixed.
John Richardson of ADCS mentioned here:
http://blogs.angloinfo.com/us-tax/2015/03/30/part-iii-living-in-the-past-citizenship-relinquishments-am-i-still-a-us-tax-citizen/
Good Morning,
At the risk of a little more self promotion. I found another link to a spot where my trip to Mexico to renounce was mentioned again.
https://www.cpacanada.ca/en/connecting-and-news/cpa-magazine/articles/2015/March/Financial-news-and-advice–March-2015
I really did not think that what I did was newsworthy, but apparently I was wrong.
Cheers,
Rocky
krackerjack121,
It should be newsworthy that US-defined US citizens find ways to *avoid* the long wait lines to get out from under the absurdity of US citizenship-based taxation and FATCA brought into their countries by finding shorter waiting lines than those in nearer-by US consulates. Excellent planning and timing by one such person (who had no say in where or to whom he was born and have an acquired US citizenship) to save on the extortionate rise in US renunciation fee from US$450.00 to $US2,3500 (such savings no longer available). Instead the media frames it in to me a different connotation, as
“At least one Canadian has gone to great lengths *to avoid Uncle Sam* under the new Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, which requires banks in Canada to give the IRS data on clients who may be US citizens.”
What you did was brilliant!
@ Krackerjack121,
Thanks! It’s hard to keep up with listing Brockers in the News, appreciate your bringing this to my attention.
@ All,
If you get quoted or mentioned in an article or newscast, don’t be shy! Make a comment on this thread and I’ll be sure to see it and add it to the list.
@ calgary411 – Thanks, it was more out of self interest that I did not want to pay the money. I also had taken some of the “saved’ money and put it towards the lawsuit. I just could not help myself. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
@ pacifica777
Glad to do it. Anything to help me ego. 🙂
Cheers,
ROcky

Nicely written, Bubblebustin. I’d love to see the reactions of some of the Floridians reading that. Hopefully it will burst a few bubbles of misconceptions about Americans abroad.
You write it all wo well, bubblebustin. You will have made some think more than once about this. As always, thanks.
