The Burrard Street Journal is reporting that
DONALD J. Trump believes the U.S. “should never have allowed” Canada to gain independence. The republican candidate for president freely admits to being “a little rusty” on Canadian history, but feels confident that the United States owned Canada “at some point”, and claims giving it back was a “major mistake”.
The former reality tv star was responding to a question about Puerto Rico possibly becoming the 51st of the United States, when he made the statement. “It used to be 51 you know, when we had Canada,” Trump said, pointing to an American flag, “Or 52 if you count Mexico which I never will, no matter how much they beg.”
The interviewer Brian Kilmeade, seemed unmoved by Trump’s remark and asked him to explain his understanding of Canadian/American history, as the Fox host began scribbling notes:
“I personally think it was the biggest mistake in American history, giving Canada back. Look at that place now, it’s falling to pieces. It’s overrun by godless, gunless hippies and it’s such a shame to see.”
As the host nodded along, Trump explained that America got a “terrible deal” with Canada who “stole” the land over a thousand years ago “or something like that”.
“It was a truly awful deal. Canada gets Toronto and Vancouver, which has the hottest women, and what did we get? Alaska? The Florida of Canada? Such a terrible deal.”
“Well what are you going to do if elected?” Kilmeade asked. “Forcefully take Canada and claim it as part of America?”
“I think that’s gotta be an option,” Trump responded. “You know, they’ve got a lot of oil up there, a lot.”
“I’m not sure there is any evidence to support this theory, Donald,” Kilmeade intervened. “I mean wasn’t Canada founded by Britain and France who invaded–” “No, are you kidding me?” Trump interrupted. “You think that either of those guys know the first thing about war? No Canada has belonged to America since Jesus’ time, and that’s a fact.”
Shortly after the controversial interview, Trump reiterated his stance towards Canada with a tweet that was deleted 20 minutes later, not before being retweeted over 6,000 times.
You know the part where Toto pulls the curtain back on the Wizard in the Wizard of Oz? That reminds me of Trump.
Trump’s ignorance is breathtaking and horrifying.

This isn’t satire but it is a sort of counterpunch to the fabricated Burrard Street article. If Margot Kidder ever returns to Canada she’ll be even more spittin’ mad when she gets hit with the American trifecta stick — CBT/FBAR/FATCA. That US citizenship ceremony she once viewed as a bright and shining moment in her personal history will look more like a black cloud.
@Bill
This is known. If you clicked on the first link “the Burrard Street Journal is” it opens to the site’s disclaimer. And if you notice point #4, it is clear that the author knows the site is a joke.
The idea here, is to see if people find Trump so outrageous that they could believe him saying these things.
I think Justin Trudeau may have already discussed the feasibility of this with Obama.
Re: Donald Trump Article- Total BS and I can’t believe that it was published on this site.
The Burrard Street Journal is a satire, parody and comedy news site. All articles, videos and images are fictitious and occasionally intended to be humourous. Please feel free to copy and paste this into your comments to prove this site is “bullshit”. Check out our disclaimer below for more info.
The site’s disclaimer reiterates that information:

I think this undermines the credibility of the Isaac Brock society and that the post should be deleted.
The Burrard Street Journal article may be total BS but here’s another one warning of a Trump presidency, which would not be so great for Canada. This is not to say that Clinton would be wonderful either:

I agree fully. It really has no value to this site which is devoted to leaving the USA!
@ Bob Klenz and Bill R
Please look up the translation of “reductio ad absurdum” and lard knows we could use more of this on Brock right now (properly categorized, as this piece is, of course). These are grave times and if graves are where we’re all heading then I see no harm in getting our last laughs in first.
@Bob & Bill
I see you are both new here. We do not delete posts on Brock. I have pointed out it is a farce.I am an original member of Brock and can vouch that we sometimes DO have some silliness. If you had clicked on the first link, you would have seen the fact it is satire is acknowledged. And if you had looked at the poll you would have seen the mention of “Burrard” and “satire.”
I formally apologise for making a joke above.
@Proud Aussie
Awwww, I thought it was funny.
@EmBee
Thanks!
Je concur, EmBee.
Thanks for the post, Trish. I just wish I hadn’t already seen it.
Humour is priceless.
Donald trump went to an Ivy league school and Wharton school of business where he had almost perfect grades. He has traveled the world and owns property everywhere. he raised a bunch of children who had to have homework and most of us who have much less education and much less property and much less money can tell the story from 1492 when Columbus landed in what is now Central America and who owned what and where they owned it. I saw Fox News almost solid from one news cycle to another and never saw Trump make all the stupid mistakes That Hillary and her Toadies say he made. I won’t prove I know all the sequence that led us and Canada to where we are now. I am not a person whose leg tingles when trump speaks, but unless you saw such stupidity, with your own two eyes, I wouldn’t repeat such slanderous stupid remarks . I will bet you saw a Saturday Nite parody showing a look alike act dumb actor like Tina Fey did whe she destroyed Sarah Palin with her look alike looks and stupid remark that she could see Russia from her back yard.
I heard really educated people repeat the remark and attribute it to Palin. One was my own college educated Grandson and his Socialist wife. they wouldn’t believe me when I tried to explain because Tina fey did such a good job of the destruction.
I will believe Trump did this when I see it with my own eyes.
Doesn’t anyone read the comments before making one?
forget Trump, we do know that Trudeau believes Canada is legally the 51st state.
Some people who read the post don’t always check through the comments to see if it’s satire. My husband stopped getting IBS posts a few years ago after the “report” that the IRS and the CRA were merging, with headquarters in Brampton (?) He was extremely upset, even after I read it and explained why I was sure it was satire. Even though he finally agreed that it was probably satire, he was so upset that he refused to get further IBS posts in his inbox. He was scared enough by .legitimate threats from the US govt. I sometimes forwarded certain posts to him, but nothing that could possibly upset him. Satirical posts should be marked with a caution, or with the link to the original satirical site at the beginning of the post.
I am a well known longstanding person who has supported IBS for many years and I fully agree with @ Bob Klenz and Bill R.
I am someone who is NOT even Canadian yet made frequent and I mean frequent trips to the post office to send cash to ADCS to benefit a lawsuit that I will receive very little benefit from and as that person I am going to make a statement that this post is of extremely poor taste and represents a failure in judgement on the part of the poster.
It is one thing to see comments in poor taste below the fold, it is entirely another thing to see poor taste above the fold, especially when further appeals for financial support WILL be needed and said support coming from many places other than Canada by persons of all manners of political persuasions.
I not only relinquished my US Citizenship but I burned the bridges that formerly existed, I have no stake left with the USA other than a single passing interest what will happen to ex pats and former pats. Thats the matter that keeps us together, everything else splits us apart. Frequently as others have noted that I have tried below the fold to continuously keep the peace. This post does not bind supporters together, it splits us apart.
This was a “joke” then how about equal opportunity jokes with the other candidate running for office? Sorry but the other candidate is knee deep with the neocons and it has come out today that another regime change is agenda item number one if said candidate wins. The moderators know my full background before I left the USA, enough said I can not make jokes about the other candidate because I know too well the consequences.
“Silliness” I would call it something other than that.
Hours ago, I stumbled across the “other” AD— website raising the last $2,000 for a CBT lawsuit. I am looking at an envelope ready to post to Toronto and because of this poor idea at being “silly” frankly I am wondering why bother? Is that appeal for funds “silliness” or seriousness?
This post degrades many and I mean many fine posts on matters pertaining to expats.
“Doesn’t anyone read the comments before making one?” Yes, I did as I am usually very good at such things. How does this post relate to and did you not read “The Isaac Brock Society is a website, an open forum to discuss the issues of United States citizenship, extra-territorial taxation, FBAR, and FATCA.” This post is a Party Political Post against one of the candidates running for POTUS of a country neither of us can vote in.
This post belongs at DailyKos not at IBS. It is poor taste in the best circumstance and poor judgement in the worst circumstance. Even worse that it is penned by someone associated with ADCS. This very post tars ADCS and may have damaging effect on raising further funds.
This “silliness” has already damaged a planned, addressed and stamped donation to the CBT lawsuit. I could have some “silliness” by removing my $$$$$ and simply mailing the opened envelope inside another envelope…..hah hah hah.
Let me give some words of wisdom. Words are like bullets, they both can kill and when they are both “fired” neither can be retrieved.
George
Okay, Tricia. Looks like you’re going to have to put a giant winky smiley face emoticon at the beginning of your post/poll. I can only make a wee one … 😉
I think part of the problem is that a lot of people reading Brock are so shell shocked that satire can appear real to them … 🙁
I can empathize with everyone who is shell shocked but please don’t stifle anything that can potentially make some of us grin, for a moment at least … 🙂
@Embee, I knew Dam- well this was satire but resented it fully.
Canada has no claim to me, the USA has no claim to me and this very NON-Canadian/Non-American has dug deep too many times to support a lawsuit to benefit CANADIANS that will likely have zero influence on me and my family that live a long ways from Canada.
If I want to read party political garbage satire or not, I can find this type of post at Daily Kos.
The author needs to start thinking about binding people together in common cause not creating division.
Yeah, well the current US president has stated that there are 51 states in the union.
@Moderators, in the morning I will send an email so you know its coming from George but I want this comment to be in the public domain.
There are 100 days until the election in a country that many of us have left so we have no say. More “silly” posts like this WILL damage the ability of ADCS to raise funds for the appeal that will be needed. Long standing donors are going to walk away from ADCS because of this post and never look back.
This post needs to be removed from IBS before any further damage occurs and more people read it.
This type of “silliness” does nothing to help the seriousness of fighting CBT in the USA and the Charter Lawsuit in Canada.
The mere fact that a person associated with ADCS penned this silliness causes me to personally question the seriousness of the ADCS effort. I am confident I am not alone in that regard.
George
Isaac Brock Society is a means of expression for many of us. Some of us need a good laugh now and then. Tolerance works wonders.
