“The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and the Foreign Bank and Asset Reporting Requirements result in government’s warrantless seizure of personal financial information without reasonable suspicion or probable cause. Americans overseas should enjoy the same rights as Americans residing in the United States, whose private financial information is not subject to disclosure to the government except as to interest earned.
The requirement for all banks around the world to provide detailed information to the IRS about American account holders outside the United States has resulted in banks refusing service to them. Thus, FATCA not only allows “unreasonable search and seizures” but also threatens the ability of overseas Americans to lead normal lives. We call for its repeal and for a change to residency-based taxation for U.S. citizens overseas.”

@polly,
Your claiming to be moderate but I suggested the people you liked were not. I never claimed to be moderate. I am extremely far right economically and probably far left socially. i am basically leave me alone to make my own mistakes especially leave my money alone.
Trump isn’t a choice I want. He is though who I will vote for. Clinton wants massive changes to the tax code to increase complexity and compliance costs. She wants more Obama. Of course at least I know those trusts that will get created if i die will be safe from her since she has them.

Is Trump more dangerous to the world than Clinton? No way, I say. Clinton is for more war, more bombing, to fight the perpetual “war on terrorism”.
Trump was recently lambasted for telling the obvious truth that had we left Saddam Hussein in power, there would be no IS, the Middle East would be far more stable than it is now, France wouldn’t be in a state of emergency, and by extension the entire world would be safer.
As bombastic as he is, I think Trump would preside over a more peaceful world than Clinton the lying, expat-despising hawk.
Don’t get your hopes up. Doesn’t matter what party they’re from, they’re still Homelanders who think the rest of the world should submit to Murrica and pledge allegiance to it

Trump is some kind of psycho.
I have nothing more to say on the matter because I cannot vote anymore anyway. I renounced. But I feel that whoever is in charge in Washington DC will affect us all. It would have been nice to have somebody with a good and steadfast, sensible character. Somebody with integrity.
I would have gladly voted for Rand Paul.
@Bubblebustin,
Unlikely I would vote for a libertarian. No chance of getting in.
@Polly,
I only have the choice really of Clinton or Trump. I like neither but I hate what Clinton is all about and what her party did to me. Trump isn’t a psycho. He runs a business. His children unlike those of other rich people are a massive credit to him. Clearly he has got a lot right. The Clinton’s wealth is all derived from their positions of power and what they could do for their cronies.
Don’t worry. My vote is likely empty in WA.
@JimJAtras
First off, I would like to thank you for all of your efforts to repeal FATCA.
As for the article about Hillary`s bloodthirstiness- bah humbug. It is what America has been doing for ages under the dems or the republicans. No real difference there. If Trump is more about minding our own business-as in taking care of America inwardly instead of outwards- that would be fine by me. I only think that America is a global player and all the global intervention was always to further their own causes. Hard to imagine America withdrawing from that powerful position.
@Neill
Should Trump win, then maybe at the very least, FATCA will be repealed and RBT instated. Thats a consolation.
@ polly
Trump also said he wants to make friends and trade with Russia rather than the sabre rattling Mr O does and Hilary wants to continue. Ukraine is Ukraine’s problem to solve. We do not need the US involved because they want access to it’s black sea port, it’s certainly not worth starting WW3 over.
@Polly
Re “As for the article about Hillary`s bloodthirstiness- bah humbug. It is what America has been doing for ages under the dems or the republicans. No real difference there.”
No argument about the miserable record of Republicans and Democrats alike. Maybe Obama is slightly less belligerent than G.W. Bush (maybe) but it’s a fine distinction. The US Deep State is what it is, with GOP neocons and Democrat liberal interventionists alike its loyal servitors.
That said, there’s no humbug in that article. Even compared to Bush and Obama, Hillary “we came, we saw, he died” Clinton is truly pathological.
As for Trump, he’s unpredictable. But if hysterical neocon opposition is any measure, it’s a “known unknown” that’s better than the predictable alternative.
dear peeps. If I could still vote US (cant-renounced) I would vote TRUMP /REPUBLICAN. OMG this is huge for me. always wuz Democat, voted Obama in 2008. —politicians are usually — apart from R&R Paul/Ted Cruz/ TMay/MGove/PHammond/DDavis/JRedwood/ sort of BoJo/sort of sort of N Farage—excepting those new UK Cabinet peeps with whose record I am not yet familiar – thieving lying mendacious types. –NOTE USUALLY. one can hope for many more honourable exceptions.and the point of this rant is— single issue politics can sometimes be the ONLY stick to beat the political classes with. – UKIP is v interesting party but I voted IN(hubby voted out) on 23 Jun –cuz I think that sadly EU is going downhill — note isaid EU- still think common market is great idea. i heart DE PL et al -VF frenz2uk
sort of like, uh, voting for someone who calls illegal immigrants criminals versus someone who has already treated legal emigrants as criminals
Mark Twain: “voting for someone who calls illegal immigrants criminals versus someone who has already treated legal emigrants as criminals” Well put! Love it!
“I only think that America is a global player and all the global intervention was always to further their own causes.”
That has always been the case since “building up the military” has always been America’s #1 focus (in having the latest and greatest military technology – to always be the best…to achieve domination – always couched in terms of superiority). America is a dangerous foe and an even more dangerous ally. Their focus is the focus of a narcissistic abuser – always on themselves. At least if you are their foe, you know where you stand with them. If you’re an ally, you never know when America will turn on you.
@TheAnimal
And Trump wont change that.

UPDATE
For comparison, here’s what’s in the 2016 Democratic Party Platform. No mention of RBT/CBT as far as I can tell. The following is relevant to FATCA/FBAR:
https://www.demconvention.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/Democratic-Party-Platform-7.21.16-no-lines.pdf
p. 13 (interestingly, same page as the FATCA repeal and CBT language in GOP Platform)
Democrats believe that no one should be able avoid paying their fair share by hiding money abroad, and that corrupt leaders and terrorists should not be able to use the system of international finance to their advantage. We will work to crack down on tax evasion and promote transparency to fight corruption and terrorism. And we will make sure that law-abiding Americans living abroad are not unfairly penalized by finding the right solutions for them to the requirements under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (FBAR).
p.47
Anti-Corruption Democrats believe that we need to end corruption worldwide and increase transparency. We will fight corruption, promote good governance, and support the rule of law. We will also seek to close offshore tax havens, which corrupt rulers, individuals, and corporations exploit to shelter ill-gotten gains or avoid paying taxes at home.
I will have to say more on this over weekend but I will make an initial comment. I personally have been involved with fighting FATCA for almost six years and have seen all the ups and downs of this battle. However, a piece of advice I would give is that for those of you especially in Europe who think a same country exception is not “good enough” I would start RIGHT NOW articulating and voicing your opinion on the subject because I do believe SCE is now more in play than it has been before.
I will also note that Tim Kaine is one of the more prominent and perhaps only really supporter of SCE among Democrats in Congress and now he is Hillary’s VP.
**The issue is for all these years is the IRS bureaucracy, the tax academics(Dick Harvey, Michael Kirsch, Itai Grinberg), and in turn the Obama White House have absolutely and utterly been opposed to any changes in FATCA INCLUDING SCE. However, with both parties platforms the heat has now been turned up.
This is the year for a 3rd party option, the Libertarians, to make a statement. There is a very narrow window where Gary Johnson could end up as President. First is he needs to win at least on state – NM, CO, Utah etc… Somewhere. Hopefully a few states.
Second, neither Hilary or Trump gets to 270. Possible in a close race.
Next the House picks the President from the top 3. Picking Johnson to run a divided country seems very possible, especially with so many Repubs denouncing Trump.
The battle starts with the debates. We need to poll 15% in the polls to get into them.
Keep up the Hope and Dreams. “Are you in?”
