FATCA 2013 – Twas the year before FATCA:
#FATCA Explained in Four Minutes https://t.co/bIUKb0yerC 2013 @RobboLaw

You may recall about a year ago, Robert Morris launched the “FATCA Video heard round the world” and published a “FATCA and the new Birth of The American Empire“.
Enjoy!
Unlike FATCA, well said, easy to understand and amusing. Thanks Robert Morris!
Dumber is hardly necessary to prove, given the very existence of FATCA.
The problem is FATCA has the drip fed approach, day by day it does it damage and people won’t notice.
Americans will become more insular and easier to pick out at foreign airports as they leave the customs hall.
The Asians and Europeans love FATCA. In one way it helps lessen American competition, and thus Homelander jobs.
Roger Conklin would have so very much approved of this message. Robert Morris — THANK YOU!
The U.S. needs to wake up! One point the video makes is that only young people in their 20s, doing a short term job like teaching English for a year or two, will be the only Americans who can work outside the U.S. Everyone else will dump their American citizenship. With the few exceptions of the big oil companies, FATCA keeps Americans from living abroad, for example, to build businesses globally. Americans will be more and more out of touch with the rest of the world.
The previous video, called a “satire”, actually nailed the problem of the hubris and arrogance of the U.S. Treasury and Gov’t to promote FATCA. It was brilliant fro them to show how “China” poses a threat, because not long from now, the world currency will be determined by China rather than the U.S.
Excellent video. Nice job again Robert Morris.
“FATCA keeps Americans from living abroad.”
It should noted that CBT was originally intended to keep Americans from living abroad. FATCA is the enabling act for enforcing CBT.
@FromTheWilderness
“It should noted that CBT was originally intended to keep Americans from living abroad. FATCA is the enabling act for enforcing CBT.”
and The Canada-US Tax Treaty and IGA’s are the enablers and enforcing act of CBT in Canada.
@TheWilderness – the message that ….CBT was originally intended to keep Americans from living abroad….if this is true….be repeated and emphasized in discussions on why CBT needs to be changed to RBT
“The stated goals for entering into a treaty often include reduction of double taxation, eliminating tax evasion, and encouraging cross-border trade efficiency.[2] It is generally accepted that tax treaties improve certainty for taxpayers and tax authorities in their international dealings.[3]”

The failure of our lawmakers in Canada to prevent double taxation in the Canada-US tax treaty has created grounds for otherwise law-abiding citizens to be treated as tax evaders by both countries. A tragic failure on the part of the Canadian government.
