Nigel Green, CEO of deVere Group, sounds another forceful warning about FATCA while confirming his support for the efforts of both Jim Bopp and our own ADCS.
Some excerpts:
History will ultimately teach us that America’s far-reaching new global tax law, FATCA, which came into effect Tuesday, is a “hammer blow for the U.S. economy”, warns the founder and chief executive of one of the world’s largest independent financial advisory organizations.
The stark warning from Nigel Green of deVere Group, which has $10bn under advice and management, is in response to the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), better known as ‘FATCA’, which was implemented by Washington yesterday.
“As such, I will continue to voice my calls for this damaging tax act – which cannot possibly effectively achieve its purported aims of combatting tax evasion – to be definitively repealed.
“I will also continue to champion the legal and constitutional challenges being prepared by the likes of American super-lawyer Jim Bopp Jr. and the Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty.”
Thank you Mr. Green, thank you and God bless.

Will he financially help us get to the courts?
I have tweeted Mr. Green and e-mailed him at deVere (but without a direct e-mail address for him). This seems to indicate some of my messages are reaching him, although I have not had any replies.
I hope we can team up with him to defeat FATCA.
I truly hope that Jim Bopp can frame a solid attack on CBT and/or FATCA – it will be a long hard battle to get to the US Supreme Court.
@ brockers. wow. wakeup call or what!
I have been in indirect contact with Peter Schiff
(Euro Pacific) in Connecticut through one of his key people who I have been keeping informed of developments. Can I say I fully expect him to pull the rug out from under the IRS for this stupididty of theirs? People here can help as well by emailing them.

Mr. Nigel Green of the DeVere Group actually knows that our little group exists.
Incredible.
We will follow up.
This is quite an endorsement for our cause! Fantastic!
I have been long witnessing your battle against CTB and FATCA. I support you people!! You are doing a great job. We U.S. persons of all kinds have to get united and fight it together. United we stand & divided we fall.
We should start by making Homelanders more aware of whats is going on. Everybody living in America is always super surprised when they hear about those laws, sometimes they think I am lying and making it up.
Thanks for your work in this direction, Chears!!
@Irene64,
Our fellows in both our home country (ex. Canada, etc) AND inside the US have been thinking that we’re making it all up. Mainstream media attention has started to change that hopefully.
LM’s notice the other day that our national broadcaster CBC ran a red banner across the TV screen re FATCA will certainly help to at least tell the Canadian public that it exists – and we will certainly do our best to tell them who signed Canada’s sovereignty and our rights away to the US – the Harper Conservatives.
How true, badger. As many of us as possible need to thank the journalists involved for raising the volume on this issue and encouraging them not to let the coverage die. Canadians, US or not, need to know what the Harper government has done and will continue to do if they are allowed. US law has been allowed to take precedence over Canadian law in our country and they need to be held accountable.
This morning the Nigel Green statement, which includes mention of our “Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty”, was excerpted in the print edition of Canada’s Financial Post.
This means that for two consecutive days (!), ADCS was mentioned in this Canadian national newspaper.
The Nigel Green article does not seem to be online, and I just contacted the FP to place it online and to correct the typos.
Hi all,
Here is a related blog post by Nigel Green on his own site. Comments are open:

Apparently the Dow broke records today, due to the US jobs report. I guess they haven’t read Nigel Green’s article 😉

I read this article today on stuff.co.nz by Laura Walters,”Thousands may have US tax to pay.” Is this article accurate because if it is the implications of FATCA are rather mindblowing to say the least.

The IRS might enjoy a little uptick in revenue as a result of FATCA enforced CBT, but imo, it will be short-lived. Who’s going to pay the ongoing costs and inherent risks of remaining a US citizen for little if anything in return? Many US citizens abroad are going to simply say “cheque please” and renounce. Or go underground.
@Deckard1138 – – Your comments to Nigel Green’s recent post were so very well written. I just added these comments on his site:
Excellent article, Mr. Green; we need more voices of sanity and foresight such as yours in the national and international media presentations on FATCA to counter all the jolly and blindly determined PR postings from the IRS.
As well, I concur wholeheartedly with Deckard1138′s articulate comments here. I would add only that there indeed is a group of committed citizens in Canada who are are pursuing a Constitutional Challenge to FATCA and the Canadian IGA.
Check out the Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty (http://www.adcs-adsc.ca/).
This, of course, will be a lengthy and expensive process; any financial (or other) assistance that can be offered (even from abroad) would be greatly appreciated. If successful in Canada (a known close national ally & the major trading partner of the US, with a US expat population 2nd only to Mexico), bringing this illegal extraterritorial extortion to the courts could provide a profound encouragement and momentum towards efforts to confront this US economic tyranny elsewhere in the world.
@Brockers, a suggestion.
Mr Green is NOT going to look at an email.
May I suggest personal and handwritten, as in script, personal notes to him asking for financial help for the campaign.
My comments on his site were not really aimed at getting Mr. Green’s attention but much more to let others overseas who might read his blog to become aware and, maybe, interested.
Nigel Green speaks out on youtube:
Thanks, Em. Nigel Green speaks of (Canadian?) Senators that are addressing this. We need to know more about those efforts. Several spoke up in session referenced here: http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/2014/06/01/its-time/comment-page-17/#comment-2052135
@ calgary411
I think he was referring to US Senator Rand Paul and others.
