The following advertisement spontaneously appeared in the Delta Optimist. This paper appears weekly in the riding of Kerry Lynn Findlay, Minister of National Revenue (Kerry-Lynne.Findlay@parl.gc.ca). We accept free advertising like this from any concerned citizen who wants to try to make an impact. Thanks to the person who did this and sent me the graphics.
The person who placed the ad said that it can be run again by anyone who wants to pay for it ($250) by calling 604-998-3611 x3611 asking for Bob Ferguson, say it’s Isaac Brock calling and then give Bob their Credit Card number; receipt will be sent to me unless otherwise specified; and ask for confirmation about which specific date it will run because he’s sure there will be more than one person wanting to do this. Here is the price list for other papers and Bob can also place them there:

I hope Ms Findlay spits her morning coffee out reading this.
Thank you so very much to the person who placed this ad!
Well done “unknown person”. We may never know Ms. Findlay’s reaction, or will we.
Well done on the first Brock advert.
This is absolutely super! Thank you so much, “mystery person,” for doing this!
That ad is super! Here is their ‘advertisement’ page. We should start looking at other weekly community newspapers for similar advertising opportunities!
@Calgary411 … especially in weekly community newspapers in Conservative ridings. I don’t think it likely the Liberals, NDP or Greens are going to be voting approval of the IGA (I hope I’m not wrong).
Great stuff. Grass roots guerrilla marketing can be very effective in getting the message out, particularly if it pops up in local newspapers and bill boards across Canada.
That’s how the Ron Paul campaign and the original Tea Party movement swept across America. I’m talking about the idealistic original grass roots movement, not the astro-turf version we see today.
@ Don
“Well done on the first Brock advert.”
Not quite the first. I placed a half page “FATCA alert” ad in our local newspaper back in December. However, I like this banner type ad so I’m thinking … another one … maybe? We don’t have an MP at the moment — the Conservative we had resigned just days after my visit to his riding office. Hmmm? Anyway this ad is so perfect for Kerry Lynn Findlay’s riding and wouldn’t it be great to get one in Flaherty’s riding as well.
What’s next? Bill boards on the 401 I hope!
Since this is a hopeful and happier page of comments, Winston Churchill deserves to grace it.
He said:
“If you have ten thousand regulations, you destroy all respect for the law.”
“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.”
And this is worth repeating:
“You can always count on Americans to do the right thing—after they’ve tried everything else.”

Bill boards at some key locations along the Trans-Canada highway could be very effective. It might take some fund raising though.
If the government unions can take full page ads to try to make the public support their raises, let the ads and advertising begin. The CANADIAN public has a right to know! In my conversations on Ham radio, I have not met anyone in the USA who knows anything about Fatca. Those in the UK, Germany, Scotland that I’ve talked with would not pee on Obama if he was on fire. CANADA, the SECRET is out!!!!
I think a full page open letter in the International Herald Tribune could certainly get some attention — at the global level.
At least it brings the issue right to certain MPs doorsteps. They have to understand the Brockers are not some fringe wing party, it’s a real issue.
Israeli organizations have been publishing open letters in the IHT for many years. Here are a couple of examples:

Forget advertising internationally, we can’t afford that and we need to spend money here in Canada on Culture Jamming, creating major PR problems for the banks. Attacking the banks will pay off in spades. We can’t let them hide behind this IGA as they are they are our interface and we need to create major problems for them at local levels so local bank managers will fear us and complain to their head offices. Everyone here should phone and create trouble anonymously for local banks but not your own of course. Let the Canadian Bankers Asssoc. know that their strategy of trying to deflect anger away from the local banks and onto the government stooges won’t work. The very very last thing their member banks want is for people on the street level to express their anger at them and that is exactly what we must do. It IS the banks that are causing this cancelling of our rights and freedoms. They are doing it for money.
I wish there were a million people willing to jam the banks by closing accounts and buying gold. They HATE gold which is why we should have it. Go in and ask your branch what they think of gold as an investment as opposed to their crooked mutual funds and watch the resistance. Then you WILL know what to do.
@CBE
The problem for persons contaminated by US personhood indicia is global. Therefore, an open letter to the nations of the world is well worth considering.
Perhaps it could be published in conjunction with the CA Charter Challenge informing the world that Canada’s government is being put on notice about protecting the constitutional rights of its citizens and the Isaac Brock Society is calling on the citizens of other nations to do the same.
The Israelis are masters with regards to public relations. We can definitely learn some things from them.
Food for thought anyway.
@CBE
Israel has one of the largest concentrations of people with some kind of US-person definition.
Apparently banks in Israel have been aggressively questioning their customers’ US ties.
There are about 350,000 Jews in Canada. Significant numbers of these are also US persons or have a US family tie – I personally know several who were either born in the US, or who’s spouse or kids have US ties that would expose them to FATCA. The Canadian Jewish community has a lot to offer to this struggle, getting them onside though presentation in temples, advertising in Jewish-Canadian media, social media networks, and informal kaffeeklatsch networking and schmoozing.
Wondering, this is the man we should be talking to in the attempt to get the Jewish community onside. I don’t know why they aren’t screaming bloody murder already nor do I understand why we haven’t yet attracted any celebrities. Maybe Dr. Kish could convince Michael J Fox to speak out about this?

I am not Canadian, yet the work you are doing has helped me. I am a US person who has been living in Poland for the past 15 years. This issue is important for a million Canadians and it is equally important for another 5 million or so US persons around the world. More advertising of the Brock site is needed.
For those compiling a list of prominent Americans residing in Canada please note Dr. Ramona Lumpkin, President and Vice Chancellor of Mount St. Vincent University, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I think this thread is getting a bit off-topic, in an almost creepy way.
FromTheWilderness and CBE:
The ADL and the Dr. Rath Foundation are not “Israeli organizations”.
CIJA “is a non-partisan organization creating and implementing strategies to improve the quality of Jewish life in Canada and abroad.” FATCA is not a “Jewish” issue any more than it is a Catholic, Unitarian, Muslim, or Hindu issue.
FATCA and the IGA affect all Canadians, including Canadians of every and no religious affiliation, from many ethnic origins. Many countries have residents and citizens with U.S.ties and have active media. No single religious group or ethnic affiliation should be singled out as a “they” who control media and are prominent in many areas of business and society, and should recognize that even “they” could be affected by FATCA.
U.S. personhood is a toxic category; many of us are terrified of bearing that label. Let’s not add a yellow star to some of the badges being applied in some of the posts here. We’re very sensitive about terms like tax cheat, let’s not make it worse.
Just an idea. With these information ads appearing in local places, should the Brock website have a place for people who just found out about Fatca? A new section to recap some of the recent events with the Canadian Government etc? Might help the new arrivals with a good place to start…
