Tara, Tara,
Blah, blah, blah is the summary I previously got. Perhaps this is some of what you wanted to say to us?
The model 1 International Agreement is a different beast, however. The countries that have the administrative capacity to do so, can tailor the FATCA enforcement to their own systems. The banks of a chosen few countries don’t have to satisfy the same reporting requirements. They can have the information sent to their own national tax authorities. These tax authorities are then the responsible agencies for the relevant reporting. The banks of these developed countries don’t have to worry about detailed compliance. If the country in question does not satisfy the requirements of the intergovernmental agreement, then it is an issue between two governments, rather than between a government and an entity it can tax. The rich and established countries are being given a lighter, easier path to dealing with FATCA. This easier path is problematic as well. The agreements are being sold to our richer subjects as being somewhat reciprocal. They are not.

You talk (in tone and words) in the same gobbledygook as all the many pages of IRS code. Where do they teach you this?
Just to clarify … I am not THAT Tara 😉
I highly recommend Tara Bull’s as a cure for insomnia though. 🙂
My last comment was not meant as an insult to all of you FATCA wonks out there who actually enjoy listening and analyzing this kind of stuff. Also @Tara commenter, any reference by me to “Tara Bull” will now be to Tara from the IRS.
Couple of things to add to Mark Twain’s comment: Tara Bull’s recognition of the IGA’s as being a “sensitive topic” – boy is that an understatement! Also how she says the IRS still has “lots to do”.
I really wonder how these people sleep at night.
bubblebustin,
I just asked the same question in an email — how do these people sleep at night? Really!
@ Calgary411
They can sleep at night because they have no feelings. They are analytical and numbers and statistics are what give them satisfaction and acomplishment of projects. We are nothing to them except collateral. They have no empathy.
@Just Me: Not only has the American Empire video had 10 times as many views, but it also explains FATCA in honest, easy to understand language.
@Bubblebustin: “We are only human after all.” THAT Tara doesn’t even sound human.
@NotThatTara: Too bad. I was hoping for a good debate. I hope you’ll join in the discussion and tell us what you think.
@Tara..
Regarding the video of Sophie…
Good to see that video again….
As someone new here, you might not know that we have covered her videos extensively on other threads. She is always the one asking the hard FATCA questions…
“China doesn’t allow for dual citizenship, so American-born babies will have to procure Chinese residency through sometimes shady means. (Yes, there are plenty of agencies that help with that task as well.) There are other catches. Eventually, young Americans, even those living abroad, are supposed to file tax returns and possibly pay taxes, something that’s not widely known among many Chinese parents. Jia Mei’s website, for instance, doesn’t mention this potential financial obligation.”
To be sure, folks, the “Tara” comment at Isaac Brock Society, is not sweet Tara Ferris, Attorney – Office of Chief Counsel at the IRS, who would potentially have to take a leave of absence with pay if she was caught commenting at blog like ours.
To distinguish the two Tara’s perhaps the Isaac Brock commenter Tara could change her “name” to “Not that Tara!” as in “Not that Lisa!”. The sweet Tara Ferris, Attorney – Office of Chief Counsel at the IRS might be the Harry Potter “Delores Umbridge” of your most recent post: http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/2013/11/29/saccharin-bullying/.
Some might like the attitude. Chance to comment too:
” FATCA is a crazy law that the United States Congress has decided to impose on the entire world. It comes into force in 2014. Basically we’re building a worldwide empire subject to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This video cuts through the BS and explains the law in the simplest terms possible.
200 years from now, when people look back and wonder how the US shifted from being a source of hope to being one of history’s shitty little empires, the implementation of this law may be one of the things they point to… just watch the video to learn the truth.”

Need any further evidence that most of the world simply does not get FATCA?http://world.time.com/2013/11/27/chinese-women-are-flocking-to-the-u-s-to-have-babies/
Wow, are they in for a rude awakening…
