Some discussion in a recent thread has caused me to change the tagline of the Isaac Brock Society by removing the words “in Canada and”. I think this gave the wrong impression that, because US persons in Canada started this blog, we see it as a Canada-only fight. But from the beginning we have encouraged our international contingent of writers and participants.
The name Isaac Brock remains. It should be some comfort to residents in UK that Isaac Brock was a British war hero, protecting a Canada which was not yet independent in 1812. It is also a great comfort that Isaac Brock successfully repelled an United States invasion, though he gave his life in the process.
Yet Canada remains the focus of much of our attention because the highest concentration of U.S. persons abroad is in Canada; and the longest unprotected border that any two countries share also separates us from the U.S. menace. Numerous expats in other countries have also expressed their gratitude for Canada, in our meagre efforts to make the issues known and to take a stand against U.S. aggression.
So if you are not from Canada, let it be known that Isaac Brock is your hero too and we are all in the same battle for freedom. You are welcome as participants, and many of you have already made outstanding contributions to the Isaac Brock Society for which we are all grateful.
Thank you very much. I am so glad that I found the Canadians and the others in this group. We have a lot of things in common and it is time for us to get together and help each other.
Agreed. Those of you in Canada are taking the lead on this issue because you seem better organized and, as you pointed out Petros, have the highest concentration of Americans overseas. But I can tell you that many of us in other countries are just as outraged, upset and confused with what’s going on. If there was a way to help get organized and push this issue in a positive direction, this seems like a good place to start. In any case, thanks for important reminder that this is not a Canada-only blog.
Good points, Petros. I will change the taglines in Facebook and Twitter to coincide with the blog.
Good move, Petros — it is all US persons in this big “global” world. Canadians are just closer than most to the “800 pound gorilla.”
Voices from all over the world are needed to stand up to the insanity of this.
Good Move…. send it to Fallows! 🙂
Good move
Thank you! Makes me feel even more like there are people out there who are on my side.
What I see is the world being held hostage by the demands of 316,668,567 people. How many people are there in the entire world? At last count over 6.8 billion people are being held hostage by a country of 317 million? As Petros said, this financial hostage-taking is a strong case for casus belli.
