Media and Blog Articles – Part 1 of 11 (to 26 May 2015)

EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.

@Charl Nice comments at Forbes. I now have a PastBeyond 60 Hall of fame comments and have added these.
@Badger
Wow. STUPENDOUS comment.
How’s this for extreme irony?

IRS Can Audit For Three Years, Six….Or Forever

Robert Wood did not give example if you underreport “foreign income” but live overseas and how that allows the IRS to go back more years.
@JC
Don’t the same rules apply whether you live in the US or not?
@JC Thanks, I feel honoured as you are an expert at this commenting game.
Man, I just keep getting crabbier and crabbier as the days go on. I should have a cut a paste file but rather enjoy pounding the keys each and every time. (Even though we all keep saying the same thing over and over and freaking over).
@Badger
Any thoughts on submitting your comment to Chris Hedges over at Truthdig? http://www.truthdig.com
None of my comments are making it out of moderation at: http://www.cityam.com/205635/johnson-risks-us-fine-or-jail-over-failure-pay-tax (They are no longer even pending). I think this deserves a swat avalanche. Maybe I’ll see if “Laura” can do better with another tactic as PastBeyond seems to be on their “we don’t like you list”! Awe, and she was being so nice. (I couldn’t find out who runs CityA.M. Why are they doing this?)
@ Charl I don’t like commenting on sites requiring facebook, twitter accounts etc. I haven’t had much luck with some of the Canadian news sites either. There was a large article about the new Canadian Museum for Human Rights opening in Winnipeg, Canada and my comment was never posted. One day maybe information regarding FATCA will be there for all to see. I think the political parties are in control of the Canadian media.
SWAT team alert! Swisspinoy’s there already:
Christine Flowers Defends U.S. Citizenship in New York Times
Read more at http://www.phillymag.com/news/2014/12/15/christine-flowers-defends-u-s-citizenship-new-york-times/#lut7DV8OJkLDrKrm.99
Better yet, here’s the above Christine Flowers opinion piece in the New York Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/15/opinion/renouncing-citizenship.html
Ms Flowers is an immigration attorney. Speaks volumes when her livelihood is dependant on people having a positive attitude toward US citizenship.
@ Bubblebustin the letter to the editior from Ms Feldman following Ms Flowers letter in the NYT link you provided is the typical “America is the Greatest”. What will these people say when they find out the truth or will they forever have tunnel vision?
Wonder how many young Estonian and South Korean men Ms. Flowers has helped with their green cards, and whether she would dare direct any of the same venom at them for not going back home and serving in the army of the country that provided them or their parents with an education and a democratic upbringing.
Oh wait, I forgot, it’s only disgusting when it’s Americans doing the emigrating. When it’s foreigners doing the emigrating and they’re coming to America, clearly they’re seeking Freedom and Opportunity and it brings a tear to your eyes that America has been able to rescue them from the horrible countries whence they came.
Flowers:
This is just such black or white thinking. No shades of grey. No other countries which are great. ONLY in America. All those souls striving and risking limbs to get into America. Well – the same thing is happening in Europe too. Boats with immigrants are crossing the Mediterranean weekly. There is a great life to be had in England and Germany, Switzerland and France – and with great healthcare too. The difference is- anybody from these countries who wants to change their nationality for whatever reason don`t get slammed with ruinous penalties.
Calgary411 has posted Ms Feldman’s “America is the Greatest” and Ms Flowers letters on this stream: http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/2014/12/07/does-the-u-s-really-want-to-lose-jtepper2-as-a-citizen-renunciation-of-u-s-citizenship-jan-2014/comment-page-3/#comment-4819257
@ Charl great comment on the Cityam article, Great comment from “Double Taxed” .as well. no other comments, maybe just very slow to post, you got through.
@
My comparisson between Boris Johnson and Tricia Moon, made it out of moderation on the am article:

On Twitter I have been following the Tea Party as they are for limited government. I was thinking that if ever the US was like France and had offshore representatives that they would vote against nearly all bills as, US persons overseas don’t get USG services.
I had an exchange with the head of the Tea Party today:
JC Double Taxed @JCDoubleTaxed 46m46 minutes ago
@michaeljohns @OrlandCa1 What you say – rushed, unconstitutional – applies to #FATCA : worthy to add to your list.http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/890215.shtml …
Michael Johns @michaeljohns 43m43 minutes ago
.@JCDoubleTaxed It’s why we urgently need the Enumerated Powers Act. And if Congress acts unconstitutionally, get this stuff in fed court.
Michael Johns @michaeljohns 34m34 minutes ago
.@marcgvky @JCDoubleTaxed Well, sadly, when you have three branches of government, none committed to rule of law, our options are narrow.
Marc Bluegrass @marcgvky 28m28 minutes ago
@michaeljohns @JCDoubleTaxed actually, we 4 branches: now includes the unelected bureaucracy 2which Congress has delegated 2 MUCH AUTHORITY
The Enumerated Powers Act has been kicking around for a while. Obviously it has the attention of Tea Party leadership. Enumerated Powers Act: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enumerated_Powers_Act
Charl – I saw your excellent comment on http://www.cityam.com/205635/johnson-risks-us-fine-or-jail-over-failure-pay-tax, so it didn’t get stuck in moderation. You keep going, gal, you are a FANTASTIC spokesperson for these nightmare issues.
I’d like to give the City AM moderator a poke in the ribs. I posted an attempt to clarify a comment made by defuncteconomist 5 hours ago and it’s still a no show. @JC — glad your Boris-Patricia contrast comment made it through (good one and you worked in IBS, ADCS & FLA ). And @Charl — ditto what JC just wrote.
@ JC, Charl and EmBee City AM must not be interested in getting comments going. Withholding them for so long does not give one a chance to respond to others’ comments. Glad to see your comments there however.
@Embee I have never seen such incompetence in managing the comments section than at City. It takes FOREVER for them to come up, at one point I then had two comments, an hour later they pulled one of them. (They were different comments). Obviously they are monitoring content.
What I am quite enjoying is there in not ONE comment on the NYT Flowers article supporting her! I only wish there were more dissing her.
