Media and Blog Articles – Part 1 of 11 (to 26 May 2015)

EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.

A letter like that would go a long way to getting Brock’s name out there – better than any paid for ad, IMO.
A lot of people, especially in small communities, read the letters to the editor.
@ WhiteKat
I can’t find any contact information there. Do you see any?
@Em,
Scroll down to the bottom of the home page. You will see CONTACT. Click CONTACT and there is a list of contact info (even a phone number so you can talk to a REAL person) 🙂
@ WhiteKat
Thanks. I just sent a message to the webmaster. I think it is just a glitch and hopefully it can be fixed. Below the letter there’s an indication of those 61 comments but clicking on that link only gets you this:

You’re probably here because we re-launched our website with a new fresh look.
We thank you for your patience as we work towards bringing you the latest and most important news for your community.
Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus has written the Privacy Commissioner about the potential breach of privacy rights of Canadian citizens of American background. Under the American Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), and Intergovernmental Agreement Canadians of American origin are being pressured to turn over all manner of personal financial information for potential taxation. Angus says the bill is an over reach and an invasion of the rights of ordinary Canadians.

WSJ: More Countries Agree to Help U.S. Crack Down on Tax Dodgers
http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2014/04/02/more-countries-agree-to-help-u-s-crack-down-on-tax-dodgers/
The 19 countries being added to the list include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, British Virgin Islands, Czech Republic, Gibraltar, Jamaica, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Slovenia, South Africa and South Korea.
The article mentioned by FromtheWilderness in the WSJ above is open for comment. Nice place to yell at the US gov and only has 6 comments, all good from our prospective. The one written by “FATCA professional” is interesting. Hope we can all jump at this chance to “enlighten” the Washingtonians. I could post 100 more comments but I would start looking more insane than I actually am…..ummmm that is up for debate!
This site needs a lot more commentary from us anti-FATCA IGA people in Canada on it:
http://www.tewealth.com/blog/thefatca-act-cause-for-concern/
And, I am, so far, the only person to have commented on this article, which is one that was posted here before and is on our side. We need to give people like this more props, folks!

He thanked me for the links (to repealfatca.com, here and Maplesandbox) so I am betting he is reading our postings as we speak 🙂 more allies equals more chances to spread the word and get the outrage to such a level that this government cannot keep on hiding.
@GwEvil
Good work for getting the Timmins writer. Better than I ever did.
By all means write directly to NPD members who have expressed concern regarding FATCA.
So far have sent letters, info and link to the Christians / Cockfield Dept of Finance submission to:
– Charlie Angus
– Murray Rankin
– Nathan Cullen
– Peggy Nash
On the Liberal side suggest:
– Ted Hsu
– Scott Brison
– Irwin Cotler
– Ralph Goodale
For the political party of your choice, make a contribution, so you are on their list of contributors and so you can identify yourself as a supporter. There is a tax credit.
Tell them its an opportunity to score on the Torys. Tell them there’s a big constituency anxious to mobilize behind whoever makes a strong policy statement against the FATCA IGA. Demand a position be stated.
And send support and $$ to the Green Party!
@GwEvil
I’m having trouble posting there. I get “Your captcha is iscorrect. Please try again” What in heck does that mean?
@GwEvil
i figured it out…sorry
No probs! Glad you were able to do it. Takes a while to show up fyi
@ GwEvil
Mine is in moderation. (Confession: I recycled one of my Squamish Chief comments.) I really want to get out for a walk today.
@ Charl
I often have to recycle the captchas until there is one I’m sure of.
@GwEvil @Em
I am sitting in moderation at both sites. I’m starting to think they don’t like what I said! (Poor babies). TEWealth BS rather got under my skin but I reckon this is how they make their mula.
Check out the comments on the WSJ article. It seems like quite a few Brockers have been there. A few more won’t hurt. No registration is required.

@Charl
Mine hasn’t made it out of moderation at TE either and I posted it hours ago. Either they don’t like what we are saying or their moderator took the day off!

@Em @GwEvil
Can’t find any of our comments at TEWealth. Guess we didn’t pass moderation.
@Char – maybe their IT dept is on holiday. I get the feeling that they are a small operation anyway.
I posted strong anti-CBT comments on TEWealth yesterday and they’re gone today. I guess Brent Soucie didn’t like them (I asked him to answer how he would like to pay “hefty fees” to file tax returns for no tax owed to a foreign country where he had never lived or worked),
@Mr. A
Seems all our comments have not made it on. I don’t know if its that they don’t like it or they only have a guy coming in once a week to moderate their website. They are a small operation as far as I know.
