EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.

I was never interested in being american… I got pissed off when people told me I should… why… I like being canadian… I identify with canadians more then I do with americans… their values are not the same values I grew up with… I use to be very proud to be canadian… I still am… but the flag waving nonsense is over for me… I don’t trust the gov’t… either side… but at least at home… not everyone is rah-rah canadian… where in the US… americans are so proud… and believe all the nonsense they are told… and they are the best in the world… not…
Boris is ANGRY.
Somebody direct him over here and to Republicans Abroad.
Not a word from IBS regarding Brager FOIA output. Any planned postings?
Maybe a coordinated action from IBS admins? It is amazing — what is said, and what is said but blacked out!
@No Word,
I have been talking about it. Silence apart from you and me though.
@Polly (and others)
Yes, I strongly agree that the Mayor of London should be contacted.
Anyone up for writing an email? A snail-mail? A package of info including reference to ADCS, the Republican’s Constitutional Challenge, the DA research on FATCA 0& Expats?
Any Brockers from Great Britain (especially London) want to consider this?
His contact info can be found on http://www.london.gov.uk/contact-us/city-hall-contacts

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have not heard of it before. For those who want to start reading:

@Tricia Moon,
I have been posting links for a day or so.
Can someone bring this treasure trove to the attention of Alison Christians. I think someone of her calibre is able to make sense of what has been released.
LM, Polly and Others,
That interview with Boris Johnson is current (I stand corrected). He did renew his US passport in 2012. My previous attempted correspondence with Mr. Johnson got this reply:
http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/2014/05/12/8-usc-%c2%a7-1185-bites-again-boris-johnson-renewed-his-u-s-passport/comment-page-2/#comment-1733488, but go for it.
Very interesting. I hadn’t heard of the three bite rule before:
http://www.bragertaxlaw.com/files/lbI_doc_14.pdf
The bites here are two countries taxing your income with America getting two bites because of the saving clause.
@Neill & No Word
Gone are the days when I can read everything that is posted. I just happened to see this bc comments are on my way to delete spam 🙂
I will email Allison right now. Again, thanks for this. As well, for anything big, pls email me, would really appreciate that. nobledreamer16 at gmail dot com
@calgary411
Regarding the interview with Boris Johnson, On the web site it is dated yesterday, 13/11/14. I think it must be a current interview, since he is talking about his book on Churchill, published recently. He says US tax is “outrageous”. Apparently, he is being pursued for capital gains tax on sale of his home. He says that he left the US aged 5 and pays UK tax at rates greater than equivalent Americans pay in the US. He talks about the fact that it is difficult to give up US citizenship.

@Calgary411
I take it you didn’t hear anything from the London mayor’s office within 20 days, as promised…
With two people posting the same interview with Boris Johnson, maybe we should give it its own post elsewhere?
You’re correct — it is current!!!!!!!!! Thanks for that correction, ricard. And, no, I never received a reply to my correspondence to Boris Johnson, bubblebustin. Someone else definitely should try again.
@Calgary
If Boris wanted to do any traveling to America he would have HAD to renew his US passport. He cannot travel there on a british one. So it might not have been voluntary but more of a necessity.
I dont know what kind of clout he has- but it would be so great if he could voice his concerns, his aggravation, and the injustice of CBT for himself and the rest of the world.
It is such a shame that those famous or wealthy people just get out and wash their hands of it. They would be the ones to make waves. I`m thinking of people like Tina Turner. Her voice would be heard. But as it is, the real injustice of CBT is just swept under the rug.
bubblebustin, ricard, Polly, LM and all,
Here is a new post for someone who wants to take the Boris Johnson challenge: http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/2014/11/14/boris-johnson-revisited/.
@Polly
US border services has a spotty history of enforcing the passport rules, but I imagine that when on a book tour, Boris wouldn’t want any entry hassles.
Does Boris have a case for relinquishment by taking office in the UK? The glitch is that he didn’t take office with the intention of relinquishing, as at the time didn’t know he needed to. I wonder what else he’s done to establish US citizenship besides getting a US passport. I don’t even know that he’s even filed US taxes, as he’s been advised that he’ll owe capital gains in the sale of his home in the UK. He’s got some cajones for saying what he did, where he did!
Polly,
I agree that it is
Here are my thoughts from yesterday about that not (YET) happening as I wonder why: http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/2014/11/12/attempt-to-contact-commander-chris-hadfield-with-u-s-defined-u-s-personhood-by-snowbird-rules/comment-page-1/#comment-4248029.
Most of us will agree with ILLUSTRATION OF THE PROBLEM: Dear America…
@Calgary
I read what you wrote and I can’t disagree. But on general principle- couldn’t somebody who has paid their dues voice the opinion that CBT is unjust? Would that really taint their reputation? Only with rabid homelanders who say “dont let the door hit you on the way out”. There are voices out there who have come to understand that double taxation is unjust. Boris Johnson is one of those people, I believe. Tina Turner could say “I left for love” AND “but I think doubling taxing people is not right.” A bit of civil courage- just a bit….especially if one really believes in those words.
Polly,
Yes — so we’ll have to continue to wonder and wish and try to get some of those people to join us after they have been able to move on with their non-US citizenship lives.
An answer to some of the ignorant “homelander” comments in media articles could be:
“Security Commentary at The Daily Signal, July 2014: Do YOU (dear US “homelander”)want YOUR private financial information automatically shared with the Russian and Chinese governments as the Russian and Chinese and other countries around the world must automatically turn over *US Person* private financial information to the USA?
@Polly
I think the biggest problem is the media… instead of talking about the problems or the double taxation issues…. headlines would probably read… Well known person is a Tax Evader… or words to that effect… Or they gave up with US anything… so they can evade their taxes… see what I mean… I don’t think anyone is brave enough to have that taint… if u are well known… this could follow u forever… Only way we can probably get them to support this is for them to quietly donate without anyone knowning who they are… But haven’t u noticed… any time homelanders talk about this crap… tax evader & other nasty names are used to label us… or they talk about illegal immigrants… we were stupid… we were legal immigrants & look at the mess we are in… Taxed on crap we own outside the US… We were told nothing about this kind of taxation or to formally give it up… We are now what I called fake US citizens… all the problems a citizens has without any vote or representation… no one wants to know about our problems… US or home country
