EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page.  You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too.  [Note:  Some articles are not open for comments]

    I put up a comment on the North country blog. It is in moderation, but I have a personal policy of always commenting on a blog that appears to be progressive, and that one qualifies. Will be interesting to see if they let it out…

The subordination of Canada’s tax authority to its American counterpart came in the form of a euphemistically named “Intergovernmental Agreement” pursuant to the U.S. Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).

    I’m glad that Theo’s article is in the Daily Caller. It has creds with a more let’s say, alternative sect of society. For the first time, my Facebook post got shared by a local musician who has hundreds of Fb friends, which I attribute entirely to the fact that it was in the Daily Caller.

  14. Note to Congress – Please do not force me to give up my US citizenship

    If and when I get the letter, I do not see any other option than to apply for Swedish citizenship and renounce my US citizenship – and presumably that of my children. I can live with a little inconvenience and arbitrariness, if that is the cost of maintaining the link with my ancestral home. But I can’t live in the 21st century without bank accounts.

    I don’t know if anyone in the US particularly cares about whether me and my little flock in distant Scandinavia remain part of their community or not. But does that justify allowing foreign banks to take the decision for me?
