Media and Blog Articles – Part 1 of 11 (to 26 May 2015)
You can access all years at this link:

EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.

Bingo! Got in on the Bloomberg article first. Now around 240 comments. More upticks please. If you have a good point you may reply to my comment to get up toward the top of ‘popular’ comments.
I am thinking an effective comment is not about generalities but in specifics of injustices such as can not invest in mutual funds, tax deferred retirement accounts, and have a list about five or more.
In review, the objective is not limited to trying to convince everyone on the board of the injustices, very importantly an objective is to build the IBS community and channel fund raising to ADCS. I had a big plug for both “above the line.” Note that only the top of a long comment shows. The comment board takes links and you may use bold commands as here on IBS.
This site needs to be more newbie friendly. This includes:
@Calgary411 I believe that you have the capability to make a new comment section. You click over here then must click perhaps 7 times on new comments to see the latest. It is some quirk of the platform, and i believe there may be remedy by creating a new comment section.
JC,
What is a new comment section? I have two comments on the article that I started as *new* instead of a *reply* to another. They show up down the pike, clicking on View as *New*.
@ JC
No need to do those 7 clicks. Here’s the trick. I’ll use this thread as an example. It’s one that doesn’t take you straight to the newest comment with the blue number of comments link (line below the title) like most of the threads do.
Go to the URL address bar and delete everything after media-and-blog-articles-open-for-comments/
Hit enter.
Bingo you are on the latest page.
However, there are a lot of comments on this thread now so maybe it’s time to make a media-and-blog2 as was done with others. Admin knows best.
Oh oh. I thought JC was referring to Brock. No matter … the trick is something newbies here might make use of if they haven’t already done so.
WhiteKat has a headache from her valiant exchange with Jasper at Bloomberg and I have one from trying to keep up with my “upticking”. The main thing is we are keeping JC Double Taxed’s comment at the top of the “Sort By Best” list. It’s full of all the links we want people to find. I have found no way around having to load up all the comments there before using “Command F” to search for the latest comments. I first plug in “minutes ago”, then “an hour ago” and then “hours ago” to get caught up on the latest comments at Bloomberg without having to scroll through all 250 plus comments and replies.
@Embee
Jasper suffers from the “if it doesn’t hurt me it doesn’t hurt anybody else” syndrome. Cant see past his/her own wrist.
@ WhiteKat
If your head is rested and you are around here now. This is for you …
all equality is equal, but some is more equal than others:

EmBee. Unfortunately your shortcut to the latest comments doesn’t work on a tablet. Is there a reason some threads take you to the last page ( all of the ask your questions threads) , others have a blue number of comments line at the top, and still others involve about 10 steps to get to the end? Very frustrating.
@ Duke
Sorry I know nothing about tablets or even cell phones. All I have is a big old clunky computer. Maybe somebody from Admin knows why some threads have a blue link and others don’t. Although I notice the no blue link threads seem to reside rather permanently in the right column (sections other than Recent Comments). I almost always access threads from the Recent Comments section.
@Orwell
Economists should stick with economy and avoid speculations in psychology. Denmark has one of the highest tax rates in the world ( 60% – not 83%!) and they say they pay it gladly because they actually get something for their money: healthcare, education etc. Its about trusting the government to do the right thing with their monies- its about getting something for their taxes and not just handing over the money so the government “elite” can make more wars and policies which harm the nation.
LOL Embee!
Allison Christians made her presentation yesterday on “the manifest injustice of citizenship-based taxation”.
http://taxpol.blogspot.ca/
Can anyone report on having watched it?
@ Shovel
It looked like you had to register to watch the livestream so I didn’t. Perhaps the video will appear later or Allison Christians will allow us to read her presentation. I hope so. Villanova has released videos in the past.
@EmBee
I wonder if Dr FrankenFATCA is invited?

In addition, Professor Harvey provided extensive tax consulting advice to companies around the world on various technical tax issues.
Yes, we’ve known all along that he serves corporate and institutional interests and definitely does NOT serve the best interests of individuals. The corps get tax favours and we become tax corpses, after they pick our savings clean.

David Alward named Canadian consul general in Boston
Former New Brunswick premier named to post by Foreign Affairs Minister Rob Nicholson
CBC News Posted: Apr 24, 2015 1:40 PM AT Last Updated: Apr 24, 2015 4:25 PM AT
“…Former New Brunswick premier David Alward has been appointed Canada’s consul general in Boston…”
“.,,,Alward, who had dual citizenship, had to renounce his U.S. citizenship to accept the diplomatic posting there…..”
You might remember Conservative Alward from these stories:

Interesting to see if his name appears on the FBI list and the Name and Shame list in the Federal Register
@ badger
Looks like it was all “Suave qui peut” with David Alward and he did not seem to have much interest in taking a stand or pushing back. My utmost respect goes to Ginny and Gwen who without any political standing took it upon themselves to do what our so-called leaders would not dare to do — CHALLENGE.
it is interesting to note that the number of comments for one editorial is way beyond that of any other one posted so far.

IBS Admins may wish to highlight/profile this article because of the authors behind the piece.

Poitras of the CBC has noted Alward’s renunciation

tweeters can introduce comments about FATCA to the tweets about Alward’s renunciation of US citizenship and US extraterritorial taxation.
for example, someone brought up Alward’s previous US tax filing obligations;

it appears that Ginny and Gwen are far braver than the Premier and his Con colleagues, and far more altruistic and interested for the wellbeing of Canadian sovereignty and our Charter and Constitutional rights.
Has this been posted before? AARO reports yet another attack on US expats’ wallets, by removing child tax credits from overseas residents only. The Facebook post supposedly reproduces an article on Politico, nor on AARO, but I couldn’t find the article on Politico despite extensive searches.

There is legal action by two US-French citizens for appeal of disallowance of credit of certain social security paid to France while they lived in France (now live in US).
Sounds like the usual caught by the definition of preventing double taxation in the Tax Treaty and Social Security Totalization agreement. None the less legal action!
@Calgary411 perhaps an IBS feature?

JC,
To keep it all in one appropriate place, I have posted your comment at http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/2015/02/24/social-security-totalization-agreements-fail-to-cover-more-than-half-of-americans-abroad/comment-page-1/#comment-6018924, which seems the relevant post at which your comment should be added.
