Media and Blog Articles – Part 1 of 11 (to 26 May 2015)
You can access all years at this link:

EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.

The voters also have their hands tied behind their back (probably another reason they aren’t always on the wheel) when the media doesn’t report the things they should know about accurately …. or at all. (One of the ongoing issues with getting the word out about FATCA, etc. and one of the reasons for this thread.)
@Muzzelednomore
Yeah- and the guy on the farm in Kansas doesn’t care what is going on “over there”.
*Our favourite Canadian citizenship renunciant* to run for US Presidency: http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/ted-cruz-texas-senator-to-launch-u-s-presidential-bid-1.3004695
@Calgary 411
Cruz is the Reincarnation of Sen Joe McCarthy….. in looks and what he says and does.
Uncanny resemblance. I agree.
Can’t remember how I came across this one: The Out-of-State-Business Tax Grab.
http://www.economics21.org/commentary/out-state-business-tax-grab-2015-03-20
Couldn’t resist posting this link because of the extreme version of an ‘exit tax’, called a ‘departure tax’. Caveat, I’m not suggesting that it can really be compared to US extraterritorial CBT.
See:
‘ISIS Demands Extreme ‘Departure Taxes’ from Disillusioned Civilians’
http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2015/03/14/isis-demands-extreme-departure-taxes-from-disillusioned-civilians/
“………ISIS now charges high “departure taxes” on territory they control, requiring civilians to sign over the title to a car or a family home in order to leave for only two weeks.
ISIS imposed the taxes for fear that “the city might simply empty of civilians.” By signing titles over to the terrorist group, residents of Mosul agree to forfeit their cars or homes if they do not return in the time frame ISIS demands.”………….
@calgary411
I thought Cruz couldn’t run for US Presidency – I thought you had to be born in the US to be the US president. Didn’t Obama have to show his birth certificate around to people to prove he wasn’t born in Kenya?
Apparently he can. ‘Natural born’ is taken to mean born a US citizen no matter where. He was born A’murican via his mother. Obama would have been ‘natural born American even IF he had been born in Kenya. ( Although the right wing would have fought like hell)
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2013/aug/20/ted-cruz-born-canada-eligible-run-president/
So the bad news is you can be taxed by the Americans for life, but the good news is that you still can be a US president. Wonderful!
Maybe not, Duke of Devon:
] A contrary view is promoted by UCLA Law Professor Eugene Volokh, who has said that in the hypothetical scenario that Obama was born outside the U.S., he would not be a natural-born citizen, since the then-applicable law would have required Obama’s mother to have been in the U.S. at least “five years after the age of 14”, but Ann Dunham was three months shy of her 19th birthday when Obama was born.[63]

Bubbbles. In Barry’s case, it’s moot. Only the lunatic fringe ‘birthers’ believe that he was not eligible.
I agree, moot. I only mentioned it because not all children born of US citizens are natural born, that is if the parent didn’t qualify to confer.
How old was Ted Cruz’s mother when she gave birth to him?
@EllenDownunder There is also a 14 year US residency requirement for one to become US president, so some living abroad would not qualify. There also seems to be conflicting information on whether or not you need to have two US parents if born abroad. Apparently the constitution does not define the term “natural born”.
That’s interesting, heartsick. I don’t believe Cruz’s father became a US citizen until after son Ted was born. Wouldn’t that be funny if the shoe was on the other foot re birther conspiracies.
There’s been some discussion here and there about China’s new development bank (AIIB). Well Canada has signed up for it. It will be the first clearinghouse for the Chinese renminbi in North America.
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/canada-china-to-ink-deal-for-north-americas-first-yuan-hub/article23574282/
Sorry, EmBee, I don’t read where Canada’s invested in the AIIB yet.
MB. Not quite. One is a development bank, the other is a currency exchange mechanism . We may get to the inwestment bank ( China’s rival for the world bank) later. England and others have signed on. The U.S. is upset.
@ Duke of Devon
Ah, I see the difference now. Anyway “renminbi hub” has I nice ring to it. I hope the China development bank has much higher ethics than the IMF which has brought misery through usury to many countries. Guess we’ll have to wait to see what develops.

Globe and Mail columnist Jeffrey Simpson (a US born Canadian himself) just wrote a column about how Harper must soon decide about whether to join the AIIB or not. Apparently China wants a decision by the end of March.

I`m just listening to Cruz`s speech on CNN. He goes on and on about American exceptionalism and the beacon of light for freedom around the world! Wow. Then: no more IRS, only flat tax – he keeps saying “imagine this” and goes on and on. How does he want to make something like that work? Just by imagining? He is trying to hook the people by dreams. How is that supposed to WORK?
Oh my! If only Cruz could actually make the IRS disappear! He is harkening back to the long gone days of the early 19th century. In Thomas Jefferson’s second inaugural address he said this: “It may be the pleasure and pride of an American to ask what farmer, what mechanic, what laborer, ever sees a tax gatherer of the United States?” Oh, those halcyon days!
EmBee: much higher ethics than the IMF? Sure, China’s pretty ethical… cough!
Ted Cruz: yikes. Pick him and watch the Democrats keep the Presidency.
Congratulations, Dems and Obama: making us root for China’s dev bank and Ted Cruz. Jeez.
@ Fred
At least China uses a contract rather than a cannon to spread its influence around the world. Number of American military bases abroad: 1000. Number of Chinese military bases abroad: 1. Corruption is a given in both China and the USA so that’s why I said we’ll have to wait and see what develops with this new Chinese venture. Debt slavery is destructive, even when it is very subtle, and it could well be the Chinese plan.
