Media and Blog Articles – Part 1 of 11 (to 26 May 2015)
You can access all years at this link:

EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.

@Uncle Tell
I am trying to help you out over there but my comments are stuck in all caps! My caps lock is OFF…WHY? Any ideas?
@Charl
I know, I had the same problem. Just try to type without looking on the screen and it’ll turn out right. 🙂
Stop typing with your middle fingers 😉
But Bubble….my middle fingers seem to be locked in a permanent position! There is the ring finger, the pointer finger, the baby finger and the FATCA finger.
Haha Charl! I love it! The FATCA finger!!
As my daughter said long ago,
(now otherwise known as the FATCA finger) — good one, Charl.
Very interesting, scary article written by someone with some cred in Washington:
http://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2014/12/29/washington-has-shaped-2015-to-be-a-year-of-conflict-the-conflict-could-be-intense.html
“FATCA” finger. That’s a keeper, Charl.
Thanks for the link, eliza. Continual US / Western sanctions rather than real negotiation, whatever the country, seems to many of us dangerous folly.
@Charl
FATCA finger! You just made my day!
There’s a poll “Do you think the US government needs to rethink its taxation rules for non-resident U.S. citizens? Please vote!

Imagine if environmental groups and human rights advocates told their story of the year? No wonder some prefer to bury their heads…

A chance to take another RNC survey: (I gave them a good old fashioned Crone scolding, we all should do the same. If they were in front of me I would beat them with my cane!!!!)

Some excellent comments after the piece in the Dallas News. Love the line in zuludogm’s comment in response to a comment at the other end of the spectrum:
“So, instead of giving Mr Tepper the lame old “don’t let the door hit you” line, why don’t you do what real Americans do? Stand up for your countrymen and fight for justice.”
@TRICIA
Funny, but I can’t open that link. I wait and I wait and then it says no connection. I dont get it. I tried google too- doesn’t work.

Thx all- but I was referring to the Dallasnews article on Tepper.
His article has really been spread wide and far which is good because he says so much!
This has nothing directly to do with FATCA, but thought I would share for everyone’s “enlightenment” (Oh joy……)
http://wolfstreet.com/2014/12/25/leaked-secret-negotiations-to-let-big-brother-go-global/
This link was brought to my attention by a member of one of the Expatblog Brazil forums. I add here, his commentary as it is worth sharing:
I think the bigger issue [beyond FATCA] is, in many countries, the rule of law no longer matters.
The law is now becoming a hodge podge of internationally negotiated ‘agreements’ enforced by unelected regulatory agencies, with no approval by actual governmental bodies nor the people they represent.
Just look at the G-20 in Brisbane about a month ago. Those country’s leaders all agreed to an international banking ‘agreement’ that defined banking depositors as *investors* who are on the hook for bank bail ins in the event the bank gambles with and loses the depositors money. And moreover, those depositors are last in line to collect their money, after bondholders and institutional investors, and tax collectors. (Cyprus model)
Seriously read the GATCA link. Globalism is sneaking up by not so much legislated rule of law, but by various glad-handed international *business* agreements, mandates, orders, partnerships, and contractual law.
Also worth looking at is odious TISA agreement –
“The whistleblower and transparency website WikiLeaks published on Thursday the secret draft text of the Trade in Services Agreement (TISA) Financial Services Annex, a controversial global trade agreement promoted by the United States and European Union that covers 50 countries and is opposed by global trade unions and anti-globalization activists.
Activists expect the TISA deal to promote privatization of public services in countries across the globe, and WikiLeaks said the secrecy surrounding the trade negotiations exceeds that of even the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) that has made headlines in the past year.”
Demonstrations erupted in Geneva in April as diplomats met in secret for the sixth round of negotiations over TISA, which would cover international trade in a wide range of service industries ranging from finance and telecommunications to transportation and even local utilities such as water. Protesters demanded that the draft text be released, but it has remained secret until now.
@Polly @Tricia
Might be a good idea to always include in our comment the link or title to the article we’re referring to – would eliminate the confusion we’ve just experienced!
I know i am sounding like a broken record but I am finding these days there is much more going on on FB than in the news. The Republicans Overseas FB page has some excellent commentary and occasional feedback from them The RNC meeting is in January and they NEED to hear from us. I humbly (not) believe they are going down the wrong path re CBT/FATCA. We can also post on the RNC page as they are asking for input for the 2016 platform issues. (This is a scary site with a collective IQ of 3. I would think any intelligent post would garner attention).
Then of course there is the Democrats Abroad site….grrrrr. Man they need some enlightenment. You can post under any of their titles. I especially loved the hypocrisy of their bragging re human rights. (Gave them a mouth full on that one for sure, the FATCA finger included).
AARO (Victoria), American Expatriates (Keith Redmond) are all great sources of info.
I am trying to formulate a comment for the the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (Nina Olsen) and would love some help from you smart ones here.
You can open a FB account under any name you wish. Do you think our IP addys are not out there already if anyone is remotely interested in us? Maybe you can enlighten me as to why I should not be using FB…am I missing something? (Damn, maybe it is too late for me)! I guess my feelings are we can actually engage with those having a voice in the political process along with trying to convert the jingo junkies one article at a time.
