Media and Blog Articles
EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” of FATCA/CBT articles. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.
Be sure to read the comment stream for this thread — there are usually very recent articles mentioned there that aren’t on this list yet.

Couldn’t we get some “—exits” from FATCA? Like a Canexit, and a Gerexit and a Franexit? They could all say they dont want the USA ruling over them and their sovereignty like England said to Brussels?! Somebody told me the whole Brexit thing is basically about defiance to a foreign power telling them what to do. And they dont seem to mind the financial repercussions of their decision – which is amazing. At least not for now.
I find America turning itself into the foremost tax haven in the world such a slap in the face- just SUCH unacceptable behaviour. It is really sinister. But the whole world bows and complies.
Boris rules himself out, quotes lack of support..he won’t now drink from the poison challis.
I wish Brexit really were about sovereignty, but I only know one person who voted for that and the other ones simply on the basis of feeling that there are too many immigrants. Even an acquaintance with the eastern European wife who voted leave said it was because of immigrants. After Brexit, it is like a switch got flicked on. A friend who works at a hospital expressed her dismay at overhearing nurses say that they didn’t want to use the blood that Polish immigrants have been donating. This isn’t racism (Poles are white), but it is very unsettling.
@Publius
That IS very unsettling! I too hope the decision was not based on racism and hope the ignorant can be subdued. Maybe it is “territorialism” like a wolf protecting its territory? It is like wanting to keep one`s identity. I can understand that the british want Britain to remain british, and the french want France to remain french, and Switzerland has long voted to keep Switzerland swiss without an exacerbation of racism. Maybe that is possible?
@Publius &Polly
I think the UK being an island nation has something to do with it. The channel helped protect it during WW2 and that feeling of separateness has always existed and continues , especially in the older generation.
@Heidi
And they never took the euro from the beginning….kept their own currency….. probably as a possible out. So its like they were just testing the waters and keeping a backdoor open? But also- I think Britain wants to remain close to the 5 eyes, and not France or Germany.

‘Where Are You From?’ Is Not An Innocent Question To Ask Canadians

I wanted to post this here.
I have been approached on Twitter asking for ways to help in regards to liberty and justice for US persons overseas.
Many here have recognised that Democracy has not worked for US persons overseas. @Marco sums it up:
When will Americans get it through their heads, that you are no longer dealing with a system ‘Of the People, By the People and For the People’? That is why this FATCA nightmare has gone on, actually got worse and nothing will be done about it.

I generally agree with @Marco above, that is why I think supporting the lawsuits is important. There is the Canadian FATCA IGA Lawsuit and citizenshiptaxation has planted the seeds of a lawsuit against CBT in the US. Republicans Overseas have a lawsuit against FATCA/FBAR (we are waiting for their appeal).
http://citizenshiptaxation.ca/its-not-the-taxes-its-the-effect-on-real-lives-stupid/
To build up a support base for the lawsuits it is important to help grow the community and spread awareness of the injustices. Encourage others to visit the message boards of the Isaac Brock Society and to join Facebook Citizenship Taxation and American Expatriates Groups.
Commenting on articles and tweeting/liking on twitter are other ways. I believe that by engaging and commenting that I have become more effective at doing so. We never will convince a majority of US persons to support remedy of the injustices. We don’t have to. We just need a big enough community to make an impact and support legal action.
If you don’t want to use your existing online identity, then implement an identity of protest to do so.
This is a letter of mine directed at the Australian government in terms of the injustices. I think US persons in other countries may adapt and deploy in their own countries.
This started from a US person visiting their local MP (far easier than trying to meet with a US representative).

US persons in other countries may use the country specific posts section here at Brock.
IRS says it wan’t to kick streamlined people in the teeth:
http://wealthmanagement.com/high-net-worth/america-s-offshore-tax-cheats-are-feeling-heat-once-again
@Neill
There seems to be some confusion as to whether the IRS’s renewed interest includes those who opted from OVDP into Streamlined. I can’t see the IRS wasting valuable resources going after people like me who have lived almost their entire lives outside the US. I can also see some US residents thinking they have less to lose chancing it in Streamlined than entering OVDI.
http://federaltaxcrimes.blogspot.ca/2016/06/tigta-report-on-improvement-in-some.html
WSJ also published an article on the data trove from the 80 Swiss banks and the related streamlined topic. A focus is apparently on US Person accounts with more than $1 million or $500,000 if in a structure. The article is called “U.S. Mining Swiss Bank Data to Find Tax Cheats” and was written by Laura Saunders.
Time will reveal whom the DOJ pursues with Swiss bank accounts, and whether accidentals, duals and emigrants in Switzerland are caught up in the make-a-buck programme for the US government.
If robots start paying taxes, as the European Parliament apparently wants, then what happens if a single part inside a robot is made in the USA or subject to an American patent? Does it make that robot IRS-taxable under CBT (cyborg based taxation)?

Hillary’s special video greeting to little old us: “Happy 4th of July. We will work to find a solution to FATCA.”
Well, f*** you sideways, Hillary Clinton, anything less than “I will absolutely repeal FATCA on my first day in office” is bullshit.
Interesting tidbit in this article which surprised and concerned me. This proposal was drafted by the EU Parliament but the Parliament itself doesn’t have the right to actually propose legislation. Wow! Is this really where the world is going?
@Barbara
Watching that video, I wonder if Hillary isn’t actually a cyborg.
She’ll work to find the “right solutions” for “law abiding” Americans abroad.
Code words for Same Country Safe Harbor – while fully supporting FATCA and CBT.
Sorry … I couldn’t stand more than 10 seconds of that Hiliary vimeo. Besides, I’m not American so her wishes mean nothing to me. That woman scares me and even though the terrible reality is that she will not pay for her criminal behaviour, indictment is my ONLY wish for her. To all Americans abroad, with and without CLNs, my best wishes for a Happy “Independence” Day.
@Cheryl, “This proposal was drafted by the EU Parliament but the Parliament itself doesn’t have the right to actually propose legislation.”
Only the unelected European Commission can propose legislation!!!
Thats why I voted Leave……watching Brexit The Movie was an eye opener.
