Media and Blog Articles
EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.
Be sure to read the comment stream for this thread — there are usually very recent articles mentioned there that are not yet on this list.

2terrified2sleep,
Just think how much money they would save themselves in audits and all the other absurdities of FATCA for the minnows affected. Just give us a real amnesty and call it a day so we can get on with our lives. Swallow the U.S. PRIDE or FALSE U.S. PRIDE:

@Deckard1138,
I find the protection from prosecution they afford to people who make mistakes with this worrying.
@Neill
Indeed. The Politburo always protects its own.
Well recently I said I was worried about the UK coming after me. People didn’t seem to think that likely.
I previously posted info on UK legislation to make offshore tax evasion criminal by default. Looks like they are still going this way but upping the tax threshold.

On the road to being America.
@Neill
But they don`t use CBT.
@Polly,
I was never outside the US when they took a load of my money. CBT is just something you guys think will solve all your problems if it went away when in fact it’s only a big bit of the problem.
Amnesty for Accidental Americans now!
Petitioning The US President

@JC
Time to come out of the closet. I just signed that petition and left a comment.
Barack Obama is personally welcome to drive across the border to my house and bite me.
There are many other *Accidental Ameraicans*, though not readily identifiable by country of birth. who are still with Accidental American Citizenship by definition. Many, many born abroad to US Parents but who have never lived in the US or had any benefit from the US, their *acquired US citizenship* without consent and totally non-meaningful, don’t fit the parameters for this petition. Those like my son, lacking *requisite mental capacity* to be able to renounce (for any amount of $$$) and a parent, a guardian or a trustee unable to act on their behalf, even with a court order, don’t fit into this petition. I can (and did) sign for the many born in the US who are caught up in this, but not on behalf of the many others, including my son.

Just left this comment at the Jamaica Observer – hope it survives moderation:
@ JC,
Thanks for the Amnesty for Accidental Americans Now! petition link.
I added it to “Surveys & Petitions” under “Take Action!” in the Sidebar.
@Neill
Somehow you confuse me. Are you talking about the brits coming after your money or the americans here?Because as a US resident, the brits dont tax you.
