Media and Blog Articles
EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.
Be sure to read the comment stream for this thread — there are usually very recent articles mentioned there that are not yet on this list.

The article Tom lists just above is the typical: “Americans renouncing and THEN leaving the USA in order to avoid taxes” nonsense. And the author removed my comments pointing out his fallacies.
They removed mine too, Barbara! What a bunch of jerks.
…and mine too!
From the article Tom lists:
“The fact is, it is very difficult to denounce your citizenship….”
So those “Go denounce yourself” comments from homelanders aren’t a put-on????”
@Shovel: Surprisingly many of my old college classmates (mostly Bernie Sanders Moonies) tell me on Facebook to “Just denounce”. To which I smugly reply: “I denounce my citizenship fifty times a day and always for free, but to REnounce my US citizenship is complicated and expensive.”
Is Jacks point here that real tax evaders are being caught or that all the noise about good people being in OVDP is overblown because look at this guy:

I saw an article Facebook about Snowbirds being tracked when they leave and enter Canada so that they might lose Canadian benefits. It mentions that they might actually benefit if they lose their “tax residency” in Canada. Where can I find an article about the hazards of Snowbirds becoming “US Persons” that I can post as a comment?

Do they get what you are rightly telling them, Barbara? That’s what my comment was about as well.
I can’t renounce on behalf of my son, but I sure do DENOUNCE all that is US CBT and the Conservative buy-in that all in Canada are *US citizens who happen to reside in Canada* — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANqVaEpRi_4. I hope the Canadian Liberal government gets it and will uphold our new Prime Minister’s statement that *A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian*.
And so they have! Thanks for the heads up, shovel.
BaBuCa — I finally get it, Shovel. Thought it was someone new here. Thanks once again!
@Tom
The below the line comment about the woman in France was so sad.
@Neill
Well, he didn’t call it “Your typical U.S. taxpayer with foreign accounts”.
I dusted off my old “To ANYONE …” comment for OneNewsNow. Thought I’d add a green (as in green card) splash to the red/white/blue paint mix there. It still ruffles my fur when I see those “good riddance” blotches in the comment sections. I wonder how long the moderators will hold the flow on my little green splash?

Canada: FATCA In Canada: The “Cure” For A U.S. Place Of Birth Last Updated: November 4 2015 Article by Roy Berg Moodys Gartner Tax Law LLP
so after reading through roy’s 30some pages it appears to me that even he admits in his paper that fatca/cln’s/loss of citizenship for nationality/retention of citizenship for tax reasons is a complete and utter muddled mess.
if I did not know better from other writings of his he was almost seeming sympathic to our plight in this paper…..weird……
