Media and Blog Articles
EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.
Be sure to read the comment stream for this thread — there are usually very recent articles mentioned there that are not yet on this list.

Oops, my comment was intended for Polly.
I’m with Deckard. There doesn’t appear to be a group representing Democrats Abroad.
What exactly does “kick the can” mean?
This article needs some truthiness: (Disqus)

@Polly
“kick the can” means I’ll think about it tomorrow…maybe.
@Charl
Good luck. I’ve contributed comments to that paper several times and they never pass moderation.
@Deckard….yes, I see mine didn’t make it either and I was so very sweet! I feel for the folks of Barbados, hope they have SOME press that is free.
My Wild Coot comment took about a day to show up.

@Charl
Somebody should send that leprechaun article to the relevant people on tax reform in congress.

Go for it I did
Woo Hoo…..made it out of moderation at NationNews Barbados! This is a first!

@JakDac
Well I certainly have immediate needs……repeal RBT! Shall I contact them and tell them that? (For the 4 millionth time)????
Is FATCA chasing a leprechaun and his pot of gold?
By: William Byrnes August 19, 2015
Some detail in regards to estimates of US tax revenue lost in foreign accounts.

Charl: Great comment on the NationNews article! You told it like it is as you always do!
Thanks Muzzled….I’m certain that all that comment frequently start feeling like robo commentors. We just keep saying the same thing day after day, year after year…rather like a tape stuck in an eternal loop…the “canned” comments ever at the ready, inch by bloody inch. One’s brain starts to atrophy but the rage just seems to grow.
Not much about this coming out of the US/Canadian press lately which is terrifying. If the US press was up to snuff that “Pot of Gold” article should have come from them. No one is minding the store down there as far as investigative journalism goes which does not bode well for pressuring the US legislators. Change is going to have to come from either the courts or push-back from outside the US. Self reflection is not an element found in the exceptional paradigm nor the belief in manifest destiny.
Interesting that much is coming out of the islands these days. FATCA must be very difficult for the smallest of nations. Here is another one from Barbados: http://www.nationnews.com/nationnews/news/71128/issue-bowing-global-pressure
We’re #20! U.S. Sinks Again in Cato’s Human Freedom Index
“The U.S. is tumbling toward banana republic status. And what will our ranking be next year? The EPA is readying thousands upon thousands of pages of new regulations for the oil and gas industry, the waste disposal industry, not to mention new IRS and HHS Obamacare regs coming all the time.”

Interesting articles about birthright citizenship and the 14 amendment
http://www.nationalreview.com/birthright-citizenship-not-mandated-by-constitution
Thanks, hearsick.
From that article,
I think the following article–which I didn’t see mentioned in this thread (I could have missed it as I only looked through quickly) and was only lightly commented on–is worthy of some attention from Brockers:
http://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/despite-fatca-clearance-mfs-shun-investment-from-us-canada-115072201113_1.html
Note that because of FATCA, India is not only refusing–understandably–investments from the USA. India is also refusing investments from Canada. Somehow the word has gotten out–rightly or wrongly–that Canada is just as responsible for FATCA as the USA is.
And make no mistake: India is important. It is one of the top 10 economies in the world. If FATCA is causing Canada to be singled out for exclusion from the Indian economy, that will hurt Canada.
Good One!!!!

Apart from the individual, this was a good comment that should be directed to all Canadians and our government:
here is a link to Charl’s wsj article which may not work for all:
http://www.wsj.com/articles/taking-the-irs-to-court-1440114086
@Charl
Can anyone write into WSJ and get published ?
If it doesn’t, try a Google search for the title: “Taking the IRS to Court”.
@JakDac
Those kinds of questions are above my pay grade!!! I would imagine anyone can submit an op-ed, it probably helps to have “connections”. Lynne Swanson has done well getting articles in “The Hill”, maybe she has suggestions.
