Media and Blog Articles
EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” too. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.
Be sure to read the comment stream for this thread — there are usually very recent articles mentioned there that are not yet on this list.

ISIS posts list of US citizen targets:

But of course they would never gain access to FATCA records in such secure, uncorrupt places as Egypt, Indonesia, the Philippines, Peru, and so on. And in any case, those US expats are presumed under the law to be just as big–if not worse–criminals than ISIS.
CRS implementation handbook. Contains a comparison to FATCA one news article said.

Yes, imagine the ability of anyone to tap into a data base of very angry US citizens who are unable to overcome the barriers to renunciation, but are still qualified to carry a US passport.

@econ
EXCELLENT ARTICLE! Best I have ever read on the topic. Why don`t the Washington DC knuckleheads get it?
Opportunity to remind the author and readers of Harper’s treasonous role of implementing and enforcing a foreign US law FATCA in Canada:
The Closing of the Canadian Mind
By STEPHEN MARCHEAUG. 14, 2015
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/16/opinion/sunday/the-closing-of-the-canadian-mind.html?smid=tw-share
The author is a Canadian in Toronto, perhaps he could be enlightened as to the existence of yet another of the Harper Cons betrayals of Canadian citizens and taxpayers;
“A novelist and a columnist at Esquire Magazine who lives in Toronto.”

I don’t use reddit, but found some discussions there about FATCA and CBT:

Democrats Abroad: “Our Man in Washington Jim Black Puts FATCA into Perspective”
https://www.democratsabroad.org/sites/default/files/_FATCA.pdf
Besides attempting to sound reasonable and rational in defending SCE as “bipartisan”, he has this to say about the Bopp lawsuit: “It appears to me like an attempt to undermine FATCA as part of the broader Republican strategy to weaken the IRS and protect the interests of the GOP’s wealthy backers.”
@Barbara
What a bunch of reckless lunatics DA and others are. By their own admission, they’re promoting something that may not even work while at the same time undermining one that will, that is full FATCA repeal. Thanks to this misguided pursuit of SCE, we may in the end be left with nothing!
@Bubbles the fact that this da guy is now living in the Usa speaks mountains
@George @Bubblebustin
Jim Black…he da man in Washington.

Winston Churchill’s Parents
Winston’s father was the British Lord Randolph Churchill, the youngest son of John, the 7th Duke of Marlborough. Lord Randolph’s ancestor John Churchill made history by winning many successful military campaigns in Europe for Queen Anne almost 200 years earlier. His mother was the American Jennie Jerome.

Somebody should send that leprechaun article to the relevant people on tax reform in congress.
@Charl
Democrats Abroad should be first.
@Polly
There are relevant people working on tax reform in congress?
@ Bubble
There is a group representing Democrats Abroad?
Man, I sure have been living under a rock.
@Charl
“There is a group representing Democrats Abroad?”
No, but there is one that CLAIMS to represent Democrats Abroad. We usually refer to them as the Stepford Wives, though these days they’re more like a paranoid end-stage Howard Hughes sitting in their dirty underwear in a darkened hotel room watching a badly-scratched film copy of Ice Station Zebra over and over again. They deserve our pity, but certainly not our time or attention.
