It appears to me that our strongest card — besides the 1,000,000 of us in Canada — is the support of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. It is a wonderful organization — recall the fine work done on the G20 in Toronto. I suggest we all join and support its ongoing work — especially in regards to us! http://ccla.org/

Who Says You Can Kill Americans, Mr. President?
We all better watch out!
Who Says You Can Kill Americans, Mr. President?
PRESIDENT OBAMA has refused to tell Congress or the American people why he believes the Constitution gives, or fails to deny, him the authority to secretly target and kill American citizens who he suspects are involved in terrorist activities overseas. So far he has killed three that we know of.

Canadian banks wary of U.S. tax disclosure law
The final thrust of Canada-U.S.. tax treaty negotiations is triggering fears among bankers on this side of the border that they will be dragged into helping out on an American hunt for tax cheats — and passing along information about Canadians to U.S. tax authorities

Letter from Flaherty
From Jim Flaherty:
November 8, 2012
Thank you for your correspondence of July 26, 20 12 regarding U.S. government taxation policy, specifically the Foreign Bank Account Report (FBAR) and the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). Please excuse the delay in replying.
Rest assured, the Government of Canada shares many of these concerns and has expressed them directly to the U.S. government. While we all understand that Canada and the U.S. share many common values, including ensuring fair tax systems where everybody pays their share, we have concerns about the impact of FBAR and FATCA on Canadians.

Some senators are starting to see the bigger picture:

Also, I contacted the senators from my state regarding the subject, and I was happily surprise to receive a phone call saying that they shared the concern, and that it was on their radar.
