There’s a lot of hurry-up-and-wait in litigation. The legal team does work (a lot!) during the less visible periods of a case, but there’s not much news at such times. We’re in one of those periods now. So, thanks very much, Ginny, for this comment that you made last night (and thanks to Canoe for suggesting we make a separate post of it):
“Hello friends and supporters. I am just popping in again, while you carry on with your discussions about whomever will end up POTUS at the end of the day or whatever topics get your blood pressure pumped, to remind you that:
The Three Amigo Plaintiffs and the diligent ADCS committee members are still working every day in the background on (y)our litigation. We have never lost our focus nor have our great lawyers.
For those of you who are still keeping the faith with us, thank you. Because during these months leading up to the upcoming US election, we are concentrating on what needs to be done at our end to get it done here in Canada!
We appreciate how patient you have been waiting for updates while we press on preparing on your behalf. Don’t ever think we have forgotten you because you are our motivation and raison d’être.
Now back to your regular channel.
As always, best to you all.”
Ginny
Thanks for posting this update Pacifica. All the best to you Ginny and to the other two amigos.
I totally realize that litigation can take an enormous amount of time and patience. Thanks to the three amigos for hanging in there. Also thank you to Bubblebustin and all others who have volunteered to be possible plaintiffs or witnesses.
In the meantime, I’ll keep reading and commenting on Brock and the Sandbox. I have some interest as to what goes on in the USA due to having some relatives there but my main focus is always Canadian.
May the force be with us.
Thank you Ginny and everyone working so hard for us all. You have the full support of all First Nations People behind you.
Expats and home landers alike missed a great opportunity to nominate a candidate who could beat Hillary, get the FairTax passed and be what he has always been, a real honest, intelligent guy.Mike Huckabee beat the Clintons in Arkansas and the FairTax would do away with citizenship based taxation. All the money spent on any other persuit was simply wasted.
@All
Thanks Canoe and Pacifica for headlining my comments. I had no idea when I wrote this how it would be received but I am glad to provide updates or greetings when I can. I know the waiting is hard for all of us.
@NativeCanadian
You are very kind to say that to me and the team. It is so appreciated.
I have just been so happy all day since hearing that Australia is taking up the torch too. I am wishing them so much success as they head towards taking steps to organizing to continue helping their residents living under FATCA. Hopefully we have set a good example or template to illustrate how with support from the citizens and residents your own country and countries elsewhere the necessary work can be accomplished. Let’s all cheer them on and support them.
I always say we have the best lawyer in Canada, but I hope and know that they will find their Joe Arvay and team too. Keep US law out of all sovereign nations. Go Australia!
Best to all of you wherever you live dealing with FATCA and CBT.
Let’s show them what reciprocity really looks like, which is simple: We are fighting back and the movement is underway, nation by nation.
Big thank you to our Three Amigo Plaintiffs and for this message, Ginny.
@PatCanadian
I’m eagerly waiting to be called upon by the ADCS legal team as a witness and Canadian who in spite of also being a US citizen, also deserves the protections of the Canadian government.
Ginny, thanks for your comments and posts here at Brock, always encouraging all of us in our wait for progress. Can’t imagine what it is like for you, our three brave plaintiffs.
Bubblebustin, I’m with you and others wanting to find out if we will be accepted as witnesses for the Canadian litigation. Patience in our fight for a just result to have the same rights as other Canadians not somehow US-tainted is not easy – at least not for me. Every day I tell myself to stay strong.
several Canadian Olympic medal winners are dual citizens. The US taxes the value of the medals and any prize money associated the getting a medal. does also apply to any training support paid to the athletes?
I would imagine they would have to claim it as income, and possibly have to pay tax on it.
Unless there is some provision whereby it could qualify as a scholarship/exempt type of income.
Thanks for the update, Ginny! I’ve been away and had so hoped to come home to news of a court date but I will continue to wait with patience and gratitude for that announcement. Many thanks to you and your two compatriots!
