America’s colonists are taxed from a faraway capitol
The population of the U.S. citizens overseas rose 34% in only 4 yrs, according to U.S. Dept. of State, whilst no U.S. candidates are addressing their issues and not even speaking to them. 9 million U.S. citizens overseas are PISSED OFF.
In comparison, the average U.S. growth rate over 5 years has been only 4.1%. The fastest growing state in U.S., North Dakota, has risen only 12.5% in the last five years, to 602,000 residents.
There are more U.S. citizens overseas than 40 of the U.S. states. Yet, not a single U.S. presidential candidate nor candidate for any of the federal offices has addressed the issues of U.S. citizens overseas or even spoken to them.
Although figures are difficult to obtain, the highest increase in voter registrations is occurring overseas. You would think that candidates for federal offices would want to speak to their voters? How wrong you are–the candidates are back in the Homeland with their heads up their whazoo.
So, where the heck are the U.S. candidates? Presidential? Senate? House of Reps? — Nowhere to be seen. We are being led by nobodies.
The U.S. trade balance is the absolute lowest listed on its own website. Per capita, it lies midway between Iraq and Yemen.
So what have the U.S. political candidates have to say about this? Absolutely nothing. Nada. Not a single remaining candidate has spoken to any of the 9 million U.S. citizens overseas.
Republican Donald Trump has not uttered a peep, despite the active involvement and lobbying of Republicans Overseas and the expat/emigrant-friendly RNC platform.
Democrats Abroad has involvement with its bureaucratic FATCA same-country exception platform and its support of Residence-Based Taxation (RBT), but (although it is part of the DNC) it has not penetrated the DNC platform. Bernie Sanders (after choking back his standard “offshore bank account rhetoric”) had told a D.A. audience that he supposedly supported Same Country Exception and RBT. Hillary did not attend the Democrats Abroad Global Town Hall, as she was busy at a fundraiser for herself in California. Her standin was Madeleine Albright, who attempted to placate the Democrats Abroad listeners with some semblance of herself as Hillary. Interesting that the Hillary-supporter online DA crowd was based in the recently-conquered, newly NATO-favorable Ukraine. Ukraine was a critical domino for the Hillary NATO conquest. Hillary plans to make FATCA more comfortable for its victims and to make Democrats more comfortable with dual taxation.
The up-and-coming Gary Johnson is rising, despite being shut out of the polling mechanisms and the debates which are contingent upon polling results. He is expected to be on all of the ballots of all the U.S. states. However, Gary Johnson is yet to realize that Americans could actually live outside of America.
The Green party is barely noticeable, but will soon also be on the ballots of all the states. However, the party and its presumed nominee Jill Stein have shown no interest to the U.S. expat population which numbers more than 40 of the U.S. states.
The issues for U.S. expats are quite well summarized in their 2nd class status as colonial subjects. These U.S. colonists have listed up the Intolerable Acts which have been imparted upon them by their rulers in Washington. None of the new Washington rulers have given a squat about it.
One would think also that the hundreds of U.S. Congress representatives and the current class of U.S. Senators might give a shirt. But they don’t. We haven’t seen a darmn shirt of them. Senators Paul and Lee have made noticeable efforts, but have not made much traction.
Well, America, figure it out. You’ve got a current balance deficit that has been below zero since 1976. You deserve it. You should have figured it out that it is the result of extra-territorial taxation. Your exporters and your salesmen are sitting outside of your borders. If America treats their best allies (U.S. citizens overseas) like dirt, America will go down the hole. U.S. expats have been holding your export water for years, but all you do is piss on us.
U.S. expats need to think like Al-Anon members. The U.S. will never get better until it completely crashes. So USA, either speak to us now or go crash. And don’t look for us until you’ve figured out what is wrong with yourself.
Independence Day has brought upon new meanings to U.S. expats and U.S. emigrants.
Update from the Stepford Wives
The Hillary’s position upon making your FATCA experience more pleasant
The Hillary’s 4th of July message to her global subjects (which appears to be triggered by this post):
(Knowing that it was her that jammed the IGA’s down each country’s throat) Please do inform us if there is something that she offers that is of any use.
Sure, Hillary, we believe you.
http://vancouverisland.ctvnews.ca/in-pictures/bald-eagle-pins-down-canada-goose-in-battle-between-iconic-birds-1.2933448
If you can believe the photo sequence, it looks like the eagle eventually gives up, f—s off, and leaves the goose paddling on its merry way more or less unscathed. That’s the outcome we are all looking for in any sort of Canada /US relations.
Does anyone remember who was the US’s Secretary of State in 2011? If someone remembers, please inform Clinton?
@Norman, We need a LOL button!
Hillary’s “we will work together to make FATCA easier to swallow” speech confirms the necessity to renounce if she gets elected!
Hillary is a hardened CBT supporter.
@maz57
We could use a goose like that as our PM, it fought to get free, and won.
@Bob
“Hillary is a hardened CBT supporter.”
That’s right. FATCA is just one of many negative symptoms of CBT. Hillary is talking about lessening one of the symptoms rather than dealing with the actual cause. CBT must go, nothing less than that will fix anything.
I want to clarify something. The way the post is written, it sounds like Donald Trump had said “nada” about the “absolute lowest” trade imbalance since that is the focus of the preceding paragraph. Trump has REPEATEDLY made comments on the weak trade imbalance and how he intends to change that! The trade imbalance is one major reason Trump said he got into the race. He’s fed up with politicians not fixing it. Unless you watch CNN (as we do), you might not know this because most media stations skip over his usual talking points and only broadcast his controversial and off-putting comments.
To my knowledge, none of the candidates has said anything about the expat situation and FATCA. I have listened to Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and briefly to the Libertarian presidential and vice-presidential candidates. This issue is obviously not on their radar.
I avoid listening to Hillary Clinton to the extent possible and so I did not listen to the video posted here. Her track record shows you cannot trust a word she says.
She realized the Iraq War was a mistake, she said, when campaigning for President last time; then as Sec. of State, and she sent weapons to Libya and Syria, arming rebels and violent people, and made things 100 times worse!! She also publicly lied on T.V. and to families who lost loved ones in Benghazi that the attack occurred due to a protest against a video, even though there is proof of correspondence that she knew better! The recently released report on Benghazi made that clear, and also gave proof that NO ONE sent out any kind of rescue attempt to save the Americans fighting for their lives in Benghazi for 22 hours until they ran out of ammunition–although there was plenty that could and should have been done because they had the intelligence.
The recently released Inspector General’s (IG’s) report also exposed major lies: she claimed her personal server was authorized, FALSE! She claimed she complied with the rules, FALSE! (At a minimum, she was required to archive her documents and turn them all over right after she left office. She never archived a thing, and turned in nothing for months, until the Freedom of Information lawsuit and the Benghazi Committee forced her hand). She claimed she didn’t have any classified documents on her private server, FALSE! She claimed there was no reason to believe her server was hacked, FALSE! She claimed what she did was like what previous Sec.s of State did, FALSE! (Rice didn’t use email for her gov’t job, period. Powell only used personal email when communicating with people outside the department because he didn’t have another way to do it at the time, and most importantly, he always used a gov’t server. Both Rice and Powell were under an I.G. and compliant with the rules at the time. In case you’re wondering how Hillary got away with so much, there was NO I.G. in office for five and a half years including the whole time she was Sec. of State! There had never been such a long time that the position of I.G. went unfilled!)
Hillary is not popular with a LOT of Democrat supporters of Bernie Sanders, like actress Susan Sarandon. She is extremely untrustworthy!
@Jan
What is “I.G.”?
@Polly: I.G. = https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspector_General_of_the_Department_of_State
Thank you, Eric! Notice at the bottom of the link Eric posted, it says “Throughout the tenure of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, there was no permanent inspector general at the State Department.”
Today the FBI direct announced they would not recommend indicting Hillary for mishandling classified emails. The director said a “reasonable prosecutor” would not have a strong enough criminal case. Yes, she broke espionage laws since there were scads of classified emails that were “carelessly” handled and it’s hard to believe she didn’t know better. But no one was holding her accountable until long after the fact, so she was able to rig things in her favour to be the darling of the Democrat Party, and untouchable.
Thx Eric. Sounds like a pretty important position. Why in the world was there no one during Hillary`s tenure?
“There are more U.S. citizens overseas than 40 of the U.S. states. Yet, not a single U.S. presidential candidate nor candidate for any of the federal offices has addressed the issues of U.S. citizens overseas or even spoken to them.”
So they do not care about the overseas “citizenry” for the purposes of representation but are actively hunting down the same ones for financial data and to enforce extraterritorial taxation? So terribly contradictory…
@ Polly
RE: “Why in the world was there no one during Hillary`s tenure?”
The last thing Hiliary wanted was to have an I.G. looking over her shoulder while she and her department were losing track of 6 billion dollars, using a “careless” private e-mail server and doling out favours for Clinton Foundation contributions.
And speaking of oversight, it looks like the IRS is lacking in that department too.
https://taxrevolution.us/irs-no-independent-oversight-tax-season/
Here’s a breaking story about Guccifer who hacked Hiliary’s e-mail server …
http://christiantimesnewspaper.com/breaking-romanian-hacker-with-access-to-clinton-emails-found-dead-in-jail-cell/
Give us a break. There is no point in quoting right wing conspiracy fruit cakes.
My apologies about the Guccifer thing. It’s probably another fake story and makes me wonder why they do this stuff. They should leave fake news stories to the experts at the CIA and Rita Katz.
One last thought for the 4th of July thread. Someone (don’t know who) altered a sentence in the American Oath of Allegience. I acknowlege the cynicism and smile at the “under Canada’ bit (apologetically, of course, because I AM Canadian after all).
The United States of America: “One nation, under Canada, above Mexico, with liberty and justice for some.”
Haha, EmBee
We should dismiss all non-government PSYOPS as irrelevant.
@ Bubblebustin
And realize government PSYOPS are generally not in our best interest. The truth will set us free … if it ever gets up out of its foetal position.
“The truth will set us free … if it ever gets up out of its foetal position.”
The truth will get us penalized if we write the truth on a US tax return.
The truth can get us jailed if we testify in court. For example, after US Tax Court ruled that two IRS letters (one denying my FOIA demand for records of my account, one disallowing refund of withholding reported on a 1099) were duplicates of each other, if I tell the truth under oath that the two letters weren’t duplicates then I can be jailed for contempt of court. In a US District Court I filed a motion for leave to tell the truth and the District Court denied my motion.
I think I can be jailed for contempt of court for writing the truth in my previous comment. (But moderators, please don’t censor it.)
@Norman Diamond – Here’s another case where people were “forced to lie” on their tax returns: Before the federal part of DOMA was struck down in 2013, gay couples who were legally married had to file as if they were single. (The same applied at the state level where gay marriages weren’t recognized but the state had an income tax until the rest of DOMA was nullified in 2015.) You can still search the Internet with “forced to lie” along with “gay” and “taxes” to see what they were getting at (although it’s now irrelevant with same-sex marriage being legal across the USA).
