The Revenue Minister doesn’t know the difference between security issues and a privacy ones, evidently.
Real translation second paragraph:
“We have been friends with the United States for such a long time. We however have a disadvantage in this situation and as such we need to cater to the whims of our neighbour to the south. I assure you that we plan to bend legal rules to comply with what they want, even going so far as to bend our privacy laws to the point where they are unrecognizable.”
There’s the true translation.
“Her major contribution thus far has been that she forms part of Trudeau’s female quota.”
You’re right! If the MNR were male, he’d need a little blue flashcard instead.
@ Norman Diamond
That’s the only laugh I’ve had all day … thanks.
Ha!Ha! Norman Diamond. I needed a chuckle just now.
Yes, good one, Norman, lol.
What astounds me is this issue affects mostly English speaking Canadians and she chose to add another layer of complexity on top by making her announcement in French.
She’s clearly hiding behind language for an uncomfortable issue for the Government.
Show Time. Parl Vu. Thursday April 14. 8:45-10:45 a.m. Minister of National Revenue and the Privacy Commissioner will testify at Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics Committee.
@maz57
Unfortunately, names, account numbers and balances are the same in both French and English.
