March 8, 2016 UPDATE: Legal fees paid — on to Federal Court for Charter trial contesting Canadian FATCA IGA legislation.
Canadians and International Supporters:
You came through once again: $594,970 for legal costs have now been donated and our outstanding legal bill is finally paid off.
Thanks especially to those who donated even though they never had any “spare” money to give, and despite this gave over and over and over again.
This last round of fundraising also shows that our Canadian lawsuit remains dependent on the kindness of our International Friends: There would be no lawsuit without their financial help.
Know that a very generous donation (today) from a supporter in the United States made it possible to pay off the remaining legal debt. Also please appreciate that there would be no lawsuit without the help of the Isaac Brock Society which has kindly let us use its website to solicit funds.
Our next step is the Constitutional-Charter trial in Federal Court.
For this we need more Canadian Witnesses, and my next post will be devoted only to a request for Witnesses willing to go public, like our Plaintiffs Ginny and Gwen.
For the future: I want a win in Federal Court — and I want the new Liberal Government not to appeal that win.
Thank you all for your support,
Stephen Kish,

“No one in Canadian Government is willing to talk to CBC about FATCA or our lawsuit, and I do not blame the CBC for not continuing its FATCA story.”
Isn’t that a story in itself; the government refusing to justify their behaviour to their citizenry? Refusing to explain allowing the Charter to be violated, privacy and discrimination laws violated and willingly allowing, even facilitating, the assets of Canadian citizens to be stolen by a foreign nation and their citizenry to be abused by a foreign government is a grave injustice and unethical governance. Allowing a foreign nation to rewrite Canadian law, abuse Canadian citizens and steal assets that belong in the Canadian economy is beyond the pale, we have a right to know why.
They have a civic and moral obligation to justify their behaviour. The media’s job is to hold the government accountable.
@Stephen Kish
Ok, it’s debatable whether the CBC can be blamed for “not continuing the FATCA story”, but is it not irresponsible for the CBC to join in the promotion of Canada as a place for Americans to live knowing full well what that entails?
@charl
I totally agree with your above comment
I think that there is a huge story in the gov’ts silence. even bigger than what has happened
for the cbc or any other media to throw their hands up and quit because of no comment from the gov’t is wrong.
Maybe the CBC has to hear from all of us (AGAIN). We need to supply them with a “frequently asked question”:
“CBC Audience Relations endeavours to address all the frequently asked questions received; however due to the volume of e-mails sent to us every week, we are unable to respond to each one individually.
Nevertheless, your feedback is important to us! All e-mails are read and your comments, complaints, and concerns are added to our Audience Reaction Report. Each week, the report is distributed to our senior producers, programmers and the President and CEO, Hubert T. Lacroix.”
http://www.cbc.ca/connects/help/programming_feedback (I pretty much sent them what I wrote above).
And POOF!, just like that, the bill is paid. We’re all so grateful to that generous U.S. donor and, of course, to the hundreds of donors inside and outside of Canada who got it done. (And now I can finally file away my donation charts.) I give this happy event a big Western Canadian, YAHOO!
WOW, another milestone made….PHEW!!! What a relief.
Thanks goes out from the bottom of my heart to today’s donation that polished it off (and of course to everyone that has done what they can all along). Just this morning I was thinking hopefully by April we can get the last 7K+ paid off. Boy do I love being wrong sometimes.
A huge thank you to today’s huge donor and a whopping big thank you to all who have donated. A gargantuan thank you to Stephen for never, never, never giving up.
Boo Hiss to the Fibbing Libs and to the CBC for giving up.
Hurray!!!! Thank you to all.
The US should realise the resolve of the opponents and the potential for this to spread to other countries. If there is one thing that has been true since the days of the Romans and before, people detest paying taxes to a government that doesn’t provide local services and basically steals from the local economy.
The same applies now to tax information reporting.
Thank you for ALL donations! My family will always remember the generosity and support for our freedom.
How very very MARVELOUS!!! Thank you to all who have contributed !!! Such fantastic news! Onward we go to the next step!! Mr. Kish, G+G, others, please know we are behind you 100% of the way! This morning I was depressed after reading notes and bulletins on this site, but now the sun is beginning to shine again 🙂
Be sure to do a press release when the lawsuit gets filed. That will get some coverage.
… and my I add, a big hearty and heartfelt Thank You to the very generous person from the United States who paid off our debt today! Such a boost! To Whomever you are, Thank You Very Much indeed!
That’s the best news all year! I can’t wait help as a witness – if they’ll have me.
Before someone closes this long donation focused thread to open one with updates on the progress towards the Supreme Court trial I just want to say THANK YOU to Stephen (doing the daily updates and now so relieved), John (working hard behind the scenes), Carol (always there for us), Tricia (expertly doing the tallies and more), Ginny (empathetic, encouraging and informative) and Gwen (epitomizing bravery) for instigating, promoting, documenting, updating and maintaining the legal fund drive. What a team!
Hear, here, EmBee!
Another OMG moment for me but the best kind! I admit I am a little teary. Thank you all so very much for your incredible generosity and support. Thanks to Stephen for his daily efforts and patience.
This is super! Thanks to everyone who made it happen and special thanks to Ginny, Gwen and the ADCS team. Surgite!
I am just back to this very good news. Thanks sincerely to every one of you who donated to this cause.
The news is just sinking in. I want to thank each of you for every bit of work you’ve done for so long. Stephen, I am so glad that you do not have to continue with the very hard job you had day in and day out. It is your continued persistence that got us to this goal. John, wherever you are right now, thanks for all your expertise for so many of us. Trish, your hard work in posts and all the financial stuff has been more than amazing. Thanks to our brave plaintiffs, Gwen and Ginny and to Lynne Swanson as one who originally planted the seed that made this grow.
I am so proud to know such a wonderful group of committed people — Petros for providing this platform and those who help make it run, to all those who started the Isaac Brock Society and to everyone who has contributed in expertise, posts, comments, support to each other and, of course, making the continued donations, big and small — and for never giving up. Onward we go.
And a huge thank you to the Isaac Brock Society, Peter and the admins for hosting our cause.
To the final donor. May God bless you for your generosity to your unknown neighbors. My own grateful appreciation.
MANY MANY HEARTFELT THANKS TO ALL OUR CANADIAN AND INTERNATIONAL SUPPORTERS!!! Onward and Upward!!!
All right!!!! Fantastic news!
Today, I saw my first wild flower of the year while out for a run in my local provincial park. Like that, Winter is done and Spring has arrived. Here’s to bringing our plaintiffs to court in 2016. May Justice prevail!
A big thank you to today’s large donor from the US and to all our donors. Thank you Stephen Kish and all at ADCS and Isaac Brock for your perseverance. On to the next step. As BC Doc says, may Justice prevail.
I am doing my own cross post from Maple Sandbox to here. Hope it works or someone knows how to better embed this for me.
Shout out to our Lynne/ Blaze to thank her for all her work especially in the early days, not only for all her presentations to the hearings in Ottawa, articles, etc, but for being most instrumental in the search for the best legal firm.
That’s what clinched it for me to step out of my shadow life and request that I be considered as a plaintiff.

I am so doing the happy dance tonight now that our bill has been paid in full. Gratitude to all donors and how fantastic for the last one who was able to wipe the slate clean in one very generous amount. Tomorrow, we continue the legal work seeking individual witnesses. I am so happy now that people can keep their money in their pockets where it belongs if it weren’t for FATCA and IGAs condemning us as tax cheats, second class citizens of any country where we live.
Wild Horses couldn’t drag me away. That’s my theme song for tonight.
Thank you everyone.
This one’s for you, Blaze.
