UPDATE January 24, 2015: THIRD OF FIVE LEGAL BILLS PAID
[We now have a NEW POST taking us up to May 1, 2015. This post will be retired from service.]
On August 11, 2014, Constitutional Litigator Joseph Arvay filed a FATCA IGA lawsuit in Canada Federal Court on behalf of Plaintiffs Ginny and Gwen, the Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty (en français), and all peoples worldwide. Read Alliance’s Claims and comment on our Alliance blog.
Merci !
L’équipe de l’ADSC
———————————————————————————————–
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Together we have reached our goal of paying off the third of five retainer fees for our Canadian FATCA IGA lawsuit.
Raising $300,000 from small donations is a pretty amazing achievement and we ask the Government of Canada, and those other governments who have also tossed away rights of their citizens, to take notice.
It’s still a marathon, but we are more than half way to pay off the Federal Court legal costs.
We have come so far because of our brave Plaintiffs, Ginny and Gwen, our Canadian and International donor-supporters, and the administrators of the Isaac Brock and Maple Sandbox websites who make it possible for our voices to be heard.
Thank you all,
—The ADCS-ADSC team
Maple Sandbox still unavailable 9 am EST.
NorthernShrike and Others — UPDATE on the status of MapleSandbox.ca,
I just got an email from Lynne/Blaze that the server for MapleSandbox.ca is under attack and it is being worked on. Right now, they don’t know when there will be a fix.
There are apparently those who would like to put some of us out of business!
Interesting,
Yesterday when I tried to update my post on Sandbox, the entire post (the one requesting donations) and all the comments were missing.
Please keep those donations coming!
2:30 pm EST Maple Sandbox is up.
I was wondering about the Maple Sandbox. Sorry to hear it’s having problems. What’s Brock’s strategy if it comes under attack? I know I can always reach someone by e-mail to find out what’s up but what about others? Even people who don’t post here can be dedicated lurkers and if Brock went down it would throw us all into addiction fits. (It’s happened before when Petros was changing servers.)
Meanwhile @All PLEASE make sure you have the ADCS postal address written down somewhere (pen on paper) so no matter what happens on the internet you can still make donations.

In fact IF, doG forbid, there is a Brock or ADCS site attack, make it your incentive to send an extra something to ADCS.
I hope we all note your wise words, EmBee. Thanks.
Thanks, NortherShrike. It is — Bravo to Outraged Canadian and her work on this!
It is good that we have both Maple Sandbox and IBS. If one goes down, we can gather at the other place.
Comments on Canadian Government Statement of Defense.
Someone help me find these. Someone new coming to IBS will not find these very important comments, yet there is a link to the statement from the Government.
Put link in to this after the link to the statement of defense: https://adcsovereignty.wordpress.com/2014/11/10/the-government-of-canadas-statement-of-defence-to-adcss-statement-of-claim/
I like the part in the comments about Canadian Government admitting/acknowledging that the US government extorted them into agreeing to the FATCA IGA. I would prefer a separate post on this one topic of extortion that I may Tweet and link in to.
Powerful. From the American Chamber of Commerce as posted today on Republicans Overseas Facebook page.

Sorry, this is the beginning of the article above:

@ Bubblebustin – the Chamber of Commerce article doesn’t come up for me with these links; do you have another way of finding this? I don’t do FB.
@LM,
I have a better copy and will ask Tricia to attach it to our ADCS blog site. I will then provide a link.
Michael DeSombre, President of Republicans Overseas, makes the argument in the article that ending FATCA should be a bipartisan issue and that it would be “great if Democrats Abroad could join” the struggle.
For those still interested in trying to change some U.S. laws (FATCA, citizenship based taxation), you might send repeatedly emails to both Republicans Overseas and to the Democrats. Keep the emails focused ONLY on what legislation you want passed. No long stories — they already know the stories. Be very specific — Just legislation. Give them also a specific timeline to introduce legislation.
Do you want the simple @Anne Frank CBT proposal or a variant etc.? The next 6 -12 months for the Republicans will probably be critical for any legislation being introduced.
I would send emails to Republicans Overseas to Solomon Yue at ultrasealglove@msn.com and perhaps post also at the RO FB site (if you do FB — I don’t).
For the Democrats you can, I suppose, send via the Democrats Abroad website, but cc also Debbie Wasserman at Chairdwschultz@dnc.org (Anyone know a senior DA person who responds to emails?)
Do not expect ANY confirmation from RO or DA that they will agree to introduce your preferred legislation or provide you with any timelines. You are just telling these lobby groups what you want.
@ Calgary411, et al
Maybe it’s time to take a hard look at the PHYSICAL LOCATION of the servers for Maple Sandbox and IBS.
Chech out hosting in Iceland:
https://www.orangewebsite.com/offshore-hosting.php
… or Netherlands
https://libertyvps.net/
If these sites need help with web security, suggest reach out to a top Internet security expert Micah Lee (who would likely be onside with the mission):
https://firstlook.org/theintercept/staff/micah-lee
I know lot of you don’t do FB but here are a few sites – stay informed if such an attack ever hit Brock or both sites at the same time:
FB https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Isaac-Brock-Society/341446319218930
https://www.facebook.com/USExpatsCanada
https://www.facebook.com/ADCSovereignty
@ Tricia
Thank you for those links. I only knew about the IBS facebook. Now I’ve got all three “on call”. There’s such an amazing group of people working in so many ways to keep the information channels open and the FATCA challenge on track. It’s very reassuring.
Thanks for your patience everyone while Outraged Canadian worked through the attack to restore Maple Sandbox. We did lose a couple of comments.
Outraged Canadian believes the attack targeted Maple Sandbox, but we do not know if it was because of what we do or if it was one of hundreds or thousands that happen frequently. I’m just glad we have her expertise and skills to work through it.
I will pass on to Outraged the suggestions of using a server I’m Iceland or the Netherlands. From the beginning, we have wanted the host to be in Canada and that is still our preference.
Yes, Stephen, this is WONDERFUL. My thanks too.
[Many thanks to today’s donors (repeat and new) and especially to the anonymous senior couple. Thanks also to our FIRST EVER DONOR FROM THE VATICAN CITY! This anonymous donor sent Euro bills AND A PICTURE OF POPE FRANCIS. Who might be the donor…? ]
Thoughts from my more “idealistic” self: http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/media-and-blog-articles-open-for-comments/comment-page-74/#comment-4269245
@Calgary411, Missionaries and alike are just starting to realise the horrors of FATCA and CBT. No doubt that there are some expats in the Holy See having an OMG moment. For those that are mailing in anonymized donations, it might be fun to enclose post cards!!
@Blaze, servers anywhere BUT the USA and with companies that have no ownership or contact with the USA!!!
@Stephen Kish, brilliant on emailing RO and DA, you do not even need to be a citizen. Yes, this should be bipartisan.
@George…
Prince Albert II was born in Monaco, but his mother was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. …did she renounce or just relinquish? Queen Noor of Jordan was born in Washington DC. Elizabeth May, leader of the Green Party of Canada, was born in Connecticut and she relinquished, not renounced.
According to this, Queen Noor renounced US citizenship.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Noor_of_Jordan
However, did she do this at a US Consulate? I also formally renounced US citizenship before a Canadian Citizenship Official in 1973. I have the signed and witnessed oath, but IRS does not accept this. Apparently, neither does TD, which requires a CLN. I am in the process of moving all my accounts to my new credit union. I signed the documents two weeks ago to move most of them, but as of today the credit union has not yet received the funds.
Here is more discussion on Queen Noor from a year ago.
http://isaacbrocksociety.ca/2013/11/15/queen-noor-is-an-irs-approved-wealthy-american-tax-evader/
Queen Noor does not appear on the list of Americans who have fornally relinquished, so it is unlikely she has a CLN.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_former_United_States_citizens_who_relinquished_their_nationality
She became a Jordanian citizen in 1978. At the time, that was considered to be “permanent and irrevocable“ relinquishment of US citizenship. As many of us learned, “permanent“ is only temporary and “irrevocable“ can be reinstated by the US on a whim.
However, as in the discussion going on in the Boris Johnson thread, I`m betting IRS and Jordanian banks will give Queen Noor a pass.
Getting back to “$82,897 more needed to make the February 1 2015”, from now until New Years I will be attaching the following below my signature to virtually all of my emails, no matter what the email topic or recipient. Bit by bit…..
In this season of heartfelt giving, please consider making a small (or not so small) contribution towards the repair of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It was recently undermined by the US law known as FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) and our federal government’s IGA (Inter-Governmental Agreement) to implement this foreign legislation at the expense of long-established basic legal principles. With the stroke of a pen, this IGA instituted 2nd class status for over 1 million Canadian citizens and legal residents based solely on their national origin or parentage. For these individuals (and their families and business partners) rights to privacy, particularly in relation to personal and financial information, have been retracted.
The Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty (http://www.adcs-adsc.ca) has mounted a constitutional challenge against this violation of Canadian laws to accommodate the demands of a foreign country. This sort of legal challenge is quite costly. If you too hold dear the principles of equality and privacy that have long evolved within the legal framework of this great nation, please help support this historic endeavour.
If you need further information, feel free to ask me or go to either the above mentioned website or http://www.isaacbrocksociety.ca.
I do think that some tech smart person needs to consider engineering a donation drive through crowd funding like in the following article : B.C. First Nations Crowdfund More than $200K to Oppose Enbridge Northern Gateway in Just Four Months | DeSmog Canada http://www.desmog.ca/2014/11/14/b-c-first-nations-crowdfund-more-200k-oppose-enbridge-northern-gateway-just-four-months
I also think that a micro tipping service needs to be engaged … check out ….. http://www.coindesk.com/tipping-point-bitcoin-micropayments/
BTW … the 14 Million gross page view count has now been exceeded …. and the count keeps on ticking.
Beware the moves going on at the G20 meeting in Australia. can we spell GATCA ?
