Brockers, we have had very little luck in finding Francophone volunteers to translate the Alliance For the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty website for us.
This is principally because FATCA is unknown in Quebec. And, it will never be known in Quebec, if we cannot get the website translated. This is the quintessential ‘Catch-22’ situation!
We have had a few leads, but each of them have fizzled out for one reason or another. Please, if anyone is fluent in French (Quebecois), message me on this post and I will contact you. I have word files all ready to go. The task could even be divided up between a few people, so as to keep the task more manageable for each person.
Please take a moment to look over the site and get a good idea of what you will be undertaking before you volunteer.
Thanks!
I would like to help out!
I’m already starting a rough draft
vin-de-table,
Thanks so much for stepping up to the plate and your work being the start to awareness for our French speaking Canadians. Bravo!
Thanks vin! I have just emailed you 🙂
Vin-de-table,
Thanks for helping us in the translation!
I have a friendly and committed Quebecer supporter who will help in doing the careful proof-reading, but we need more translators as there are many words in our ADCS-ADSC website.
We have tried, without success, to interest journalists in Quebec on FATCA. The Quebecers I speak to tell me that few people in Quebec appreciate what is going to happen to them when FATCA is enforced. We need to get the word out.
@Gwevil, I got it. I am going to finish it tomorrow and I have a meeting with my Québécois friend – a native speaker and real translator – to check it over on Thursday. I’ll get back to you then!
I know French well and can help translating, but perhaps a native speaker should review it.
@Shadow Raider – I have word files that you could work from but I am not sure how far vin-de-table has gotten on those. Perhaps I can email both of you and we can coordinate dividing up the work?
@vin-de-table – would that suit you? I need your permission to include you and Shadow Raider in an off Brock email.
Yes fine
@GwEvil, You can email me.
I can also help out. I am an American québécoise who lives and works in French!
@Living to renounce – I will email you in a short bit
Bravo! Merci beaucoup!
: )
@vin-de-table and LivingtoRenounce, Merci beaucoup. It is soooooo good to know that we will have this site/information available in both official languages.
Also, there are LOTS and LOTS of annual “snowbirds” from Quebec to Florida – – they need to know about the risk of getting sucked into the US tax system and how to avoid it. Perhaps that could be another project?
