We need people to wake up and join the Legal Challenge, but they won’t do so unless they know what is happening to our country.
Here is my small suggestion. The heading says “The Hunt for Canadians born in the US”. FATCA is far more reaching than that. I think we need to add the rest of our bunch such as Canadians with US ties albeit citizenship, green cards, born in the USA, married to an American, snowbirds and the list goes on. I think we all need to be included to make a big bang point. I’ve spread the word around my little town as the Canada day celebrations continue this weekend. Thanks for listening!
@Ann – that headline would just be too long and not punchy enough. We can do more press releases as things roll out. In fact its better to keep this issue in the public eye by constant press releasing.
FYI – certain Brockers 😉 have been interviewed over the past few days by the Financial Post and by the Globe and Mail re: FATCA and its bankrupting potential, not only to individuals but to Canada as a nation – stories to come out on Tues or thereabouts, so keep eyes out. This is finally, albeit pretty darn late, coming to the fore.
We should burn an American flag and invite CNN and watch the US Citizens living in the USA finally find out about Fatca……
NativeCanadian, thats an interesting idea.
I would add also burning US Birth Certificates.
But that would get attention.
A few of us in the London Ontario area are getting together for lunch on the Fourth of July for some USA bashing. One person said she will bring a US flag to burn, but I don’t think that is safe in my condo. However, there is a park right across the street.
If anyone wants to come join us for lunch and USA FATCA bashing, please e-mail me at maplesandbox @ yahoo dot ca.
P.S. Native Canadian will be at the Fourth Bash.
My first submission to the Globe & Mail did not get published but I sent it anonymously, which likely gave me little chance. I am working on another and hope to get someone else to put their name & city to it.
The recent sympathetic Globe editorial was mildly encouraging. The politicians are influenced to some degree by Globe editorials – I hope that Harper saw it.
I am spending most of my FATCA time & energy on contacting every possibly affected person I can think of to read the ADCS website and hopefully donate.
Keep up the excellent work everyone!
Seems I need to thank you over and over again, Mr. A. Thanks for all that you are doing!!!
And this seems to answer the question Canada has been betrayed by the FATCA IGA as signed by the government.
Is it to be the end of all sovereignty? All borders? Is NAFTA to be the culmination of plans long held and near fruition?
Is FATCA just a tool in the toolbox of global governance?
The merging of Canada , America and Mexico. :

@FuriousAC, from your link

In the New American article: from David Petraeus, Chairman of the KKR Global Institute, retired American military who served as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and four-star general as commander of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Commander, U.S. Forces Afghanistan (USFOR-A), 10th Commander, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM)and Commanding General, Multi-National Force – Iraq (MNF-I) where he oversaw all coalition forces in Iraq (Wikipedia).
I appreciate your link, Furious AC. That brings a lot into focus for me into the why’s of our Conservative government’s capitulation on FATCA: ENERGY which equals WARS and science? coming over the North American (especially Canadian) borders.
It is what our “fellow” “US Person in Canada” Diane Francis would like. Speaking only for myself, it sickens me to contemplate it.
Perhaps: Celebrate Canada Day while we can as black as this year will be for *US Persons* in Canada.
July 1st, 2014 our country’s sovereignty further chipped away by the implementation of the US FATCA IGA. Think of it: our financial institutions become arms of the U.S. IRS, as the Harper government with omnibus Bill C-31 replaced Canadian law with US tax law. This is combined with the the Conservative government having passed its another omnibus budget bill in 2012 that included new powers for certain U.S. law enforcement coming across the border “in pursuit”, not subject to Canadian law in Canada..
I am still of the opinion to burn a US flag in public with the media present. This will do two important things. first, it will show the disgust from the expat community about their rights being fully violated. The second most important thing is that this will completely piss off US homelanders. When they are pissed, they listen. This will open the door to the US population finally learning how desperate and despicable their government has become. To even tax babies is totally unacceptable. This will show them why their flag was burned and how the people burning it had good reason to do so. The Canadian flag should be distorted as well to show how Canada FAILED immigrants who came here from the US and how other immigrants need to start to worry they may be next.
@NativeCanadian;
Burning large mockups of the blue US passport with the logo clearly reproduced on it would send a clear message, similar to the burning of draft cards. We could have those who have expatriated get together and cast them into a fire. Good for a photo op.
How about ‘FATCA OFF’ T-Shirts as well.
@NativeCanadian: Your Con MP is retiring and not seeking reelection.
Anyone else think Preston, Keddy, etc see the writing on the wall?
@Blaze, I found myself thinking about the offensive remarks by Keddy today, and wondered whether those in border ridings who are sent to be born in US hospitals because of insufficient services provided in Canada, should receive official notice by the CRA that they thereby are US taxable persons, and have their Canadian parents sign a waiver indemnifying the province and the federal government for any injuries that result from the automatic acquisition of US taxable status thereby. I wonder if it would be possible to sue the province or a provincial health authority for subjecting someone to lifelong and unwanted US citizenship and US taxable person jeopardy without the consent of their parents or their own consent?
Might provinces and ridings like Keddy’s have to rethink their washing of their own hands of the consequences? Keddy acts as if it is the problem of the accidental Canadian born in a US border hospital only, yet it happened as a consequence of inadequate resources provided by Canada and the province they were citizens and residents of.
@Calgary411:
The article in the New American is an alarming one to me. It makes the events come into even sharper focus for me. Especially in light of other articles at The New American by Alex Newman on OECD and GATCA.
I read those some time ago and believe me it lays out in detail what they plan to do and they are referenced in the article about Gen. Petraeus with notation regarding G20 and OECD and their plans.
When you read the actual plans of the OECD it is quite chilling and when you read the Canada IGA and IT also refers to “OECD guidelines” it becomes crystal clear what they are doing and where it is all going.
Which answers why it was buried in an omnibus bill and not mentioned anywhere and why our own mps stonewalled and dererred.
We were handed over to that criminal enterprise as fodder for the goal of their intended purposes.

And THIS is how retirees in the US are being treated:
http://www.bankrate.com/financing/retirement/social-security-cuts-offices-hours/?ic_id=most_shared_default?pid=syn1
It seems that the money for SS is being spent on illegals crossing the border in waves while retirees whose money it is are being denied services.
Yes, FuriousAC, it all comes together and makes perfect sense to me and I’m sure others of us going through this. Listen again to what the Conservative MPs and to what Mr. Darren Hannah (Acting Vice-President, Policy and Operations, Canadian Bankers Association) say in Parliamentary hearings. Listen to and tally “the VOTES”.
It is apparent that Opposition MPs were not privy to IGA negotiations with the US, including only the Conservatives and the Canadian financial institutions. The NDP speaks so well for us — and the Conservatives DO NOT take heed at all. What a game. We are but pieces in the big chess game and quite expendable. “Churchill said: If you’re going through hell, keep going.”
Bubblebustin: That gave me a much needed laugh this evening!
Thanks.
It’s late and I’m tired but I thought everyone here might enjoy this one as much as I did:
