Expect to hear a lot of criticism of Rand Paul. Mr. Stack is speaking once again.

What liars! The tax treaties don’t prevent double taxation. They actually legitimize it and force the none U.S. country to be complicit in the rise at their own expense.
How these people can propose this with a straight face shows that they share the personality traits of a common thief and narcissist. They belong in a jail.
It looks like it is a hearing to discuss it, I assume it would not be voted upon? Or, that the committee might vote upon it or not vote upon it as to whether it should be taken to the Senate floor. I assume that it wouldn’t make much difference for him to discuss it if they already know his stance and are already ignoring it.
Rand Paul would only need to show up at the discussion & vote on the Senate floor.
On a separate note, the Orwellian government language, sponsored by all members of the OECD, is no longer “tax treaties for preventing double taxation”.
The new language is “tax treaties for preventing double non-taxation”
With the new doublespeak, the treaties no longer need to be in the interest of human beings, they are strictly in the interest of governments.
@Mark Twain,
That’s amazing.
The name of the game is to find a group of people that are not liked. For example perverts who do stuff to kittens. Convince everybody we need a kitten tax to curb that behavior. Then act all shocked when the revenue roles in and kitten owners can’t understand why they are being taxed. Kitten perverts shift to hamsters.
For years they have said that taxing cigarettes is all about health. Now they have a potential alternative that lets people kick the habit and is better for their health and they are lining up to tax it because they want the money.
We have the Clintons supporting estate taxes to stop generational wealth while sticking their stuff in trusts to avoid it. Charley Rangel likes penalties for tax cheats unless it’s him not declaring the rent on his overseas home.
I kind of like watching Stack with the sound off. He moves his hands around a lot.
Robert Stack is just another dirty tyrant in love with the idea of hunting down expats.
Bravo Rand Paul! Hat tip to you as one of the last standing defenders of liberty.
I would like to see & listen to this but the link just comes up blank for me. Was it only live or is it meant to be a video?
Mark,
Does the video in the second link show up for you? It does for me — the first many minutes does not show the actual start to duration of the hearing.
Mark Twain, in the EU at least, the term “double non-taxation” refers to coporations’ use of a very specific loophole in an EU directive under which a subsidiary in one member state pays profits to the parent company in another member state through “hybrid loan” arrangements. The end result is that the payments are not taxed in either member state. The EU Council is currently working on amending the legislation to close the loophole.
Rand Paul good. Robert Stack bad.
LOL, Tim, and a lot less infuriating too.
