I am calling on Stephen Harper to resign. He is no longer fit to lead Canada, for he is planning to enact a law which will result in the extraordinary rendition of the private account information of Canadian citizens to the IRS in Washington DC. Canada is not a tax haven. FATCA is not the answer.
@ FuriousAC – Ah, the reality is beginning to dawn on the homelanders and they ain’t going to stand for it. How quickly will all the IGAs drop from the clipboard once these other countries see (in Disney Technicolor) that reciprocity is definitely not a viable option (if they imagined it ever was). This news clip needs to be sent immediately to ALL the honorable Members of Parliament, especially the ones on the Finance Committee.
BTW, Blaze, you did fabulously (thank you so much for all your planning/organization/staunch and totally relevant comments), as did Allison Christians and (sorry I didn’t write his name down) the Law Professor from Queens. The banking/investment folks clearly showed more concern for their businesses than the Canadian citizens.
Cullen and Rankin were so fantastic in this clip – they have obviously done their homework and have researched this and listened to the comments and concerns of those who have been trying desperately to alert their fellow Canadians about the danger that FATCA and the FATCA IGA surrender represents.
Now, where is our nation’s broadcaster and coverage of this issue?
I and I’m sure a few others has been tweeting them, Badger!
This needs to be forwarded to Justin Trudeau to let him know that apart from Ted Hsu, the liberals are missing in action. It is rewarding to see how the NDP caucus has embraced this issue, how well educated they have become with it and so responsive to constituents.
All emailing is obviously working.
Mostly unrelated to our issues, but how many Budget Implementation omnibus bills a year in Canada?
Didn’t we hear this same speech by Nathan Cullen on the last budget implementation bill? Nothing changes: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/10/23/conservatives-introduce-t_n_6037756.html
