Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed

February 5, 2014 was the day we thought we would never see. It was the day the Canadian government announced it had caved to a foreign nation’s demands to invade our honest, law abiding lives as Canadian citizens and residents to seize our private and legal financial records. It was the day we learned the Canadian government considers us second class Canadians with limited rights under Canadian laws and Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Today is the day we begin our drive to fight back. February 28, 2014 is the day we launch our Canadian Charter Challenge Fund to raise money for a legal opinion from prominent constitutional lawyer, Joseph Arvay.
We must demand freedom. We must demand our government uphold our rights. We must demand the government place its citizens and residents over the demands of a foreign power.
We must demand our government place our rights over those of the bully oppressor. We must band together to fight for our cherished Canadian rights and freedoms. We must do it now.
Remember, the War of 1812 was not over until 1815. We should likewise expect our battle to be long, messy and expensive.

I saw the C3f logo but I didn’t realize the blue worded link went here. I thought it was going to C3f. Sorry. I still would like this thread to be a top sticky though because lots of Brockers just pop in now and then and they could miss the side-bar. I think we are our own best hope to get these donations to the goal, given the amount of time available.
@LM,
Thanks — we may have sent the email to the same press person. My emails to this person also get routed to the head of DA International. It would be great if both parties decided to support us with a posting.
Agree that this thread should be a top sticky.
Another payment alternative is a postal money order for those who don’t want to go to a bank.
i think republicans abroad is the more influential facebook page of the two. republicans overseas has 623 likes whilset republicans abroad has 5739
GwEvil, Blaze, IRSCF, Trish (and anyone else that I am not aware of) – your incredible efforts are very much appreciated. My cheque to Dr. Kish is in the mail.
This is getting better and better: now foreign companies to automatically withhold taxes from US persons employees and send them to the IRS:
Cathay to withhold US pilots’ wages for taxes
http://www.scmp.com/business/companies/article/1438783/cathay-withhold-us-pilots-wages-taxes
Could this happen in Canada too? The challenge MUST succeed!
@noone
Wow, that is quite a story about the 30% withholding on pilot’s salaries. Cathay Pacific is not even a FFI but is taking no chances. The FATCA cancer is spreading like wildfire now, along with all sorts of unintended consequences. Soon all Americans will be confined to barracks, as it were, for eternity.
This news is worthy of a post of its own so I shall put it out there in the next few minutes.
If there is someone here who does Facebook please post a comment on and, if possible, a link to C3f on today’s SCMP Cathay airline article. There are around 500 American pilots who are affected and if they read that article some of them might just make a donation.

Em, I’ve sent an email to Petros, pointing out that several would like that moved back to the top-most post here so no one can miss it.
Sending my small cheque with morning mail
Patricia,
Thank you so much for the donation.

Re Cathay Pacific
Sit back folks and get your popcorn, the party is just beginning. Next a general strike against the airlines
“The FATCA cancer is spreading like wildfire now, along with all sorts of unintended consequences.”
Yes the heat (chemotherapy) is on and FATCA will die, bet on it. Might look good to McCain on paper but wait till the paper starts burning in his hands
Does anyone know if there is any media coverage in the offing? We could use another CBC blitz or something similar right about now to get the word out about C3f. And we need it soon!
@Em,
Several Brockers were interviewed a few weeks ago, and we’ve been expecting an article, but so far nothing.
@ WhiteKat
I hope something comes out of those interviews. They won’t have known at that time about C3f but we could at least make use of the comment sections if/when the articles emerge.
@Em,
I emailed the reporter to tell him about CCCF, so if the article is still a go, perhaps he will add that into it.
Em – I agree with getting this out to the media. Are you, or other Brockers, interested in my perusing my Wikipedia list of US-born Canadian journalists? Some are Sports or business journalists but, hey, these may be just the people to approach since FATCA will bite them too.
@LM what is the link to the wikipedia list of US born Canadian journalists?
Thanks
@ grouchyandmad
I just slowly read through the listing of folks at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:American_emigrants_to_Canada
and put the names and places of birth (and current residence if available) and occupations into an Excel chart. I can go through this list and pull out names if someone wants to follow up with contacting some of these folks – – they are all US-born Canadians (sufficiently well-known/well-connected to be listed in the wikipedia site and all facing FATCA…….
Maybe adding a $50 option would prompt more people to donate.
@Em
Watch how this Cathay Pacific thing plays out. I think the reason they are picking on them is because they want to send a message to China. I say that this explodes in their face and that all airline pilots will go on strike in support of the Cathay Pacific pilots. Anyone want to take bets? An incident like this could spark a flurry of renunciations and enough bad publicity to spell the beginning of the end of FATCA
@ ChearsBigEars
I hope you are right about that. Switzerland tried the passive aggressive close-their-accounts ploy which hasn’t worked, so far, to move the FATCAnatics towards some degree of sanity. Maybe the Cathay Pacific withhold-their-wages action will shake the tree hard enough to send the FATCA coconuts crashing to the ground. Meanwhile we will do our thing here in Canada with the C3f. Man, something has to work somewhere, somehow. US hubris is way out of control, in too many arenas.
Pilot shortage could put strain on airline industry: report
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/feb/28/pilot-shortage-could-put-strain-airline-industry/
So, the answer is? Harass the pilots and treat them like criminals.
@ChearsBigEars Now that is interesting, as you intimate, I wonder if that is to try to push pilots around the world to return to fly for AA and other “Domestic” carriers again? or is it pure idiocy targeting to punish a group that is “overseas” that is in short supply “domestically”. Seems that this sort of thing is becoming the New American Way based on what I see happening with the IRS targeting conservative groups. I suppose that those within a fish bowl, like Homelanders, might find it hard to see the big picture. Maybe I am just not awake yet.
