U.S. extraterritorial tax laws called ridiculous http://t.co/wgARuoVlWB … – Allison Christians @TaxPolblog wide ranging #FATCA interview
— US Taxation Abroad (@TaxationAbroad) January 14, 2014
This is a very good interview which covers a wide range of relevant issues.
A big thanks to Allison! Thank you for saying how wrong citizenship based taxation and FATCA are, and standing up to the bully!
Allison did a great job! I noticed that she never got around to answering the reporter’s last question regarding what can a US person do to protect themselves.
Wow! Allison really nailed it! What a day this has been. I especially liked the side video/stills and it looks like calgary is on the net with Isaac Brock Society front, line and centre!
Very concise and clear. Hopefully this will start to get more press here in Canada now.
Thanks for pulling that one out of the threads for a separate post. I am glad to see that when CBC looks for a Tax Expert, they are going to Allison, rather than a long list of FCC that they could chose from who would tell everyone why Canada MUST comply. This is GREAT!
Boom, boom, boom. Allison hit everything bang on. I have to applaud the fellow interviewing her too because he fed her precisely the right questions and expressed an appropriate degree of astonishment. Ridiculous … indeed it is but more than that, FATCA is a bad law and that needs to be repeated over and over again.
@Em…
Late here, and I just watched the Toronto News at 6p. It has been posted on other threads, but if you haven’t seen it, you should watch… Minute 14:50 More Boom, boom, boom…and as the News Presenter said at the end of the story… “Unbelievable”. We could not have better commentary than that!

I got an e-mail from Vinny Eastwood wondering who to get for a guest. Do you have any suggestions? How about you, maybe. I’m sending preparing an e-mail for him right now.
Not me, as I am not a Kiwi Citizen and would NOT be a sympathetic character. I am just a Yankee intruder here, a snowbird now, and just the type the #IRS wants to find hiding in the Queensland mountains or along the coastline:) We need to get someone like pukekonz or maybe Osgood, although I can understand them wanting to remain below the radar. #FATCA in NZ is more stealth than in America.
@Em…
They could get ACA Director or spokesman like Marie Lousie Serrato or Jackie Bugnion. They would explain the FATCA facts clearly, but still an impacted or worried Kiwi would be best, but there are few that have any idea what is coming. You could look on the KiwiWit blog for a name or two.
@ Just Me
Okay, I’ll just tell him I’m working on it.
Calling @ pukekonz and @ osgood. Do you have any suggestions? This would be a chance to get some FATCA awareness in NZ. I don’t think Vinny would need real names. He’d understand.
@Em…
You might ask the Administrator to send them an side email to see if they have an interest?
I will see what I can do..
@ Just Me
KiwiWit hasn’t had any activity since last November and I can’t post there because I don’t have a google account. I’ll watch here tomorrow for anything you might come up with. I have to say night night now. Been a long day.
Well, it has been the long Christmas break here, and NOTHING gets done, but I will put up a request there tomorrow, as it is late here and I too am shutting down.
wow just wow. great job allison
would love to have been a fly on the wall at the cbc to hear how they came to the decision that in one day there will be 4 fatca stories run.
however it came about who cares. i feel the dam has burst and now the rest of canada is beginning to wake up to the beast.
lets hope there is a groundswell of outrage and that there is a chance that this little thing called fatca can be turned around.
@ Just Me
Got anything yet re: Vinny Eastwood interview?
@Em…
One decline, and one non response, although an indication for another interview if done anonymously.
I don’t have Pukekonz email. Might check with an adminstrator to see if they would email him..
Just tweeted this,. Another good Allison Christians interview this time on CTV…

Okay, I can’t say for sure (it’s not that I actually know Vinny) but I think anonymous would be okay. I’ll send another e-mail to him to ask. I finally took a minute or two to watch the CTV interview. Opinion … Allison: Great as Always … Interviewer: Bit Befuddled (Why must CTV go the Fox-lite route?) Anyway glad it was on their website because I don’t watch TV anymore.
@ Brock admin
Would you please give pukekonz my e-mail and ask him to contact me? Thanks.
@Em
Contact pacifica@isaacbrocksociety dot ca and get my email address and send me a side message. I will send you the email of Osgood directly as he has given me permission for contacting him to discuss further…
I also applaud Allison Christians for this great interview.
@ Just Me
Done.
