It is no secret that FATCA teaches Americans to be racist against Americans. Just 4 hours ago, another stateside American honestly admitted that FATCA had caused him/her to be racist against Americans:
Ah but you leave out that countries charge expatriation or repatriation taxes. You get a 95,000 exemption on your Federal taxes which is significantly more than the poorest person in this country but you want more. Ok how about a repatriation taxes that equals 30% of networth upon returning or the equivalent of Federal income taxes for the years you were gone. You can now move completely overseas without giving up citizenship but also probably never return. You people disgust me.
U.S. expats cry foul over tax system
Who are these “people”? Americans. This stateside American is disgusted with Americans, thanks to FATCA. FATCA teaches the American people to hate Americans, as demonstrated.
Hmmm…. My linking didn’t work out quite like how I planned. :^/
(Apologies for being missing. Moving back to Northern Ontario took me away for a while.)

I like it! To be honest though, I prefer ‘spa’ music 🙂
“America needs to wake up and take steps to save what is left of her diaspora before it’s too late.”
I believe they don’t want a diaspora, as having one is inconsistent with their American exceptionalism. One of their tenets being that it’s the land of opportunity. After all, if it truly is a land of opportunity, then why would one want to leave?
$450 to renounce, exit taxes, FBARs, 3520 forms for having a TFSA account, FATCA, citizenship based taxation, etc….they don’t want their tax chattel slaves to leave the plantation. Again, it is inconsistent with the American exceptionalism myth.
People leaving the US for a better life gives them a serious case of cognitive dissonance, so they have to hate us in order to ‘deal with it’. They’ll call us tax dodgers, living it up at the casinos of Monte Carlo or some shit, ignoring the fact that we’re all just regular folks trying to survive.
I did enjoy reading your post, and I fully agree with your viewpoint. Nevertheless, from where I’m standing, I’m looking from the outside, watching the USA turn into the same Soviet Union they once tried to stand against. The fact that I’m outside and not inside gives me some hope in an otherwise unknown future. Sadly, I’ve had other people tell me essentially the same thing. Especially poignant was hearing that from an old Polish woman from back when I was still in Southern Ontario, and she was once stuck behind the iron curtain herself in her younger days.
(….that is to say, I enjoyed reading AJ’s post)
@bubblebustin
Yeah, I was pretty young when that song was out. My tastes have now changed somewhat. ;^)
@MJH49783 now THERE is a word that deserves to become a Brocker classic and reverberate throughout the forums that are fighting to free USPs from the tax chattel status of CBT
