Listening to this song recently, while driving, and enjoying the most amazing fall weather in Ottawa that we’ve been having for several weeks, (was sunny and 22 Celsius today), made me think of (what else?) – the FATCA battle we’ve been fighting everywhere, but particularly here in Canada.
‘Raise a little hell’, is a song by Canadian rock band Trooper. The song is the 10th and final track on the band’s 1978 album ‘Thick as Thieves’. It is the band’s only top 100 US hit.
Maybe we can ‘raise a little hell’ of our own here in Canada, and make FATCA a US failure!
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving everyone!
The perfect rallying cry that’s got Canadian content, perfect! And the first Thanksgiving? Made in Canada too!
“After voyaging to Baffin Island they held a ceremony in 1578 to thank God for their safe arrival. And it came 43 years before the Pilgrims in Plymouth held their better-publicized Thanksgiving.”

So put that in your corn cob and smoke it! Happy Thanksgiving everyone, for in spite of the siege that’s upon us, a great many of us have so much to be thankful for.
And twitter’s… Create a twitter storm…
The 29 stages… We need get get to step 8… π

I’m thankful for this Canadian site and Maple Sandbox in helping me get through this — and for all who have joined in from around the world. I thank every single one of you that I’ve met here and the support we’ve all been to each other and others who may just read our posts and comments. What if, with no internet, we had to go through this thinking we are the only ones affected?
You are the shining light in a horrible situation. You’ll never know the respect I hold for you individually and as a group of committed individuals that stand up for what is right, even after you’ve gone through your own hell.
Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Canadians.
Perfect! π π π
Happy Thanksgiving Day Everyone!
Now if this doesn’t inspire gratitude, nothing will! An American had to step outside to see what’s within:
10 THINGS AMERICANS DON’T KNOW ABOUT AMERICA
http://markmanson.net/america
and on the same Youtube page…
We’re Not Gonna Take it, Anymore!
@JustMe,
Great tune. Twisted Sister was an American band though. Trooper was CANADIAN!!
Yea, but sentiment the same! And, it is a lot of Americans being affected by FATCA… π
@Just Me, You just hit the hammer on the head! “A lot of Americans, being affected by FATCA…”
What the hell is ‘an American??’ I know what a ‘US person’ is, but what is an ‘American’? Surely I am not one.
Apparently, a lot of us who are CANADIANS, are considered by USA to be ‘US persons’. I repeat, ‘what is an AMERICAN?’
As you say, ‘the sentiment is the same’, but yet it is not. Canadians have their own unique identity. Trooper is part of that, Twisted Sister and USA are not Sorry, no offense, that is just the way it is. Canada ROCKS!
USA does not right now! (anyone listening?)
This is not really the best place for this comment, but couldn’t figure out where else to put it and didn’t want to create a new post for it. Lisa Smith says ‘Expats Warned Not to Ignore FATCA’ at:

Check out the comments by Beth Thomas. She really knows how to tell Lisa what to do with her ‘facts’!
OMG! I can’t stop laughing! Is Beth Thomas a Brocker?
What a useless article that was. Beth Thomas has it right! I don’t *think* she’s a Brocker.
Well, if she’s not, she should be! She sure knows how to raise a little hell! She’d be great to have at a protest!
I think for Beth Thomas this youtube of Raise a Little Hell would be quite appropriate (love the flaming graphics). That woman is a spitfire. If you are not here already, Beth, please come aboard the Brocker express.
@WhiteKat
I stopped reading, tweeting or commenting on I-expats articles. She is so wrong so often and just plain sloppy. Did you see that reference to Somalia? She has said that before, and obviously doesn’t read comments as I have pointed out she has it wrong before.!
@JustMe, Yes I have noticed that with Lisa also. The comments from Beth, were by far the best part!
