The above was forwarded to me, so I thought I would pass it on. This is extremely interesting because of:
– The involvement of the Carter Center (President Carter was sympathetic to the rights of U.S. citizens abroad)
– Note that one speaker is Peter Spiro, Temple University College of Law and author of: “This July 4, Exploring paths away from citizenship“, “FATCA Fallout: Mass Renunciations” (who has otherwise been discussed on this blog)
– The fact that it is taking place at all!
I don’t know anything about the other speakers on that particular panel but they do appear to interesting accomplished scholars:
Rogers Smith, University of Pennsylvania;
Stephen Knadler, Spelman College;
Elizabeth Cohen, Syracuse University
Those who do, perhaps you could add to this as comments.
Here is a bio on Peter Spiro.
My instinct is that this could be helpful and important. Apparently the webcasts will be on YouTube.
This will be interesting to listen to. They are all in the U.S. so I wonder how they will portray their ideas and wonder what they think about global citizenship issues?
