(Reuters) – The Obama administration is drawing up plans to give all U.S. spy agencies full access to a massive database that contains financial data on American citizens and others who bank in the country, according to a Treasury Department document seen by Reuters…
Once spy agencies get such data, German said, “it’s in a black hole. Time and again, we have evidence, unfortunately well after the fact, that somebody’s civil rights have been violated, that the intelligence community simply ignores the rules.”
Ah, good old FinCEN. I’d been wondering what happens to all those FBARs I keep sending them. I thought they were just gathering dust in a filing cabinet in Detroit. It’s great to know I’m making my contribution to Fighting Terrah. Remember kiddies, if you don’t send in your FBARs the terrahrists have won!
There is a really interesting article by Michael Arrington, founder of TechCrunch, that might be worth a post by someone with an IBS account for that: “If America Was A Startup We’d All Quit”. http://techcrunch.com/2013/02/22/america-startup-quit/ One notable quote: “I wish people had the choice of voting with their feet. This tends to keep the individual states somewhat honest in their dealings with citizens because they have to compete against 49 other states. But there’s no escaping the fed. It’s like a startup where everyone is miserable but no one is allowed to quit.”
Fat chance of ever getting any FATCA exclusion for non-resident USP’s. This administration is hell-bent on obtaining every bit of data it can, from anywhere. Canada must not allow itself to go down this slippery slope with the US. It makes me feel sick that my citizenship renders me a Trojan horse for this empire.

Let’s look at it the positive way. Maybe it’s because we send out FBARs that we’ll be considered innocent.
After all, the bas guys don’t send them, right?
And this is going to encourage US investment (including more loans to finance their national debt and deficit) how, exactly?
The combination of arrogance, malevolence, and downright stupidity is utterly breath-taking.
@myself. I forgot to add “truly exceptional” at the end of the list of adjectives in my last sentence …
