*Here’s an opportunity for each and every one who has been hit with FATCA, so please pull out all the stops and shower Anita with FATCA, FBAR, unable to renounce citizenship for disabled chidren, etc. facts and all the other dire consequences of US citizenship-based tax policy and laws. No holds barred!.
The Canadian government’s deafening-pregnant-possibly-media-black-out silence is keeping us all in suspense here. It’s impossible to determine how USP’s will be treated by our FI’s when those holding the cards aren’t willing to tip their hands. How badly FATCA will impact each of us is dependant on whether or not one is US tax compliant, but even that doesn’t won’t help if banks start indiscriminately closing accounts, mortgages, etc of all known USP’s. It seems to me that the Canadian government’s negligence in informing us of how it will protect the savings and investments of its citizens and permanent residents will soon make them complicit in the bank’s discrimination against USP’s, should time run out. Each and every one of us who stands to lose by such action should take the Canadian government to task IMMEDIATELY, or start taking defensive action to protect our own interests now. Both the Canadian government and the banks have so far left us with a very uncertain future. Call John Weston: 604-885-2939.
