Good one, along with the WJS piece today that has posted elsewhere… Now up to 321 plus comments there.
I am pleased that some sense is being displayed in many articles and comments around the internet, but before we think this has traction, it needs to be on the New York Times, LAX times, Huffington Post, Daily Beast, or Guardian for a wider readership that would not be so inclined to seek understanding from Forbes. π

They’re worth viewing as a reminder of what every American ex-pat will be facing starting the 1st of January 2013.
Harks back to the days of the Nazis scouring through records looking for Jewish “indicia.”

@benfranklin- and Mr. Geithner keeps on telling Congressional members that he is unaware of any problems that FATCA poses for non resident U.S. citizens.
The U.S. should be ashamed of itself for imposing such a costly and discriminatory law upon the world.
The words champion of freedom, justice and democracy, can no longer be applied to the U.S.
It is ironic that the nation which went to Serbia to fight a war to stop ethnic cleansing has unleashed onto the world’s financial markets its own war of ethnic cleansing.

Even more ironic is that the US is cleaning its own kin (Americans).
