@omghesstillanamerican, are we the soldiers in the Trojan horse here to invade the world’s banking systems, strategically placed as unwitting agents to help fill US coffers?
“It’s taking awhile for countries to figure this out but once they all do, they’ll slam the door shut on FATCA.”
…and perhaps unfortunately on us. Foreign Americans Turn Carcinogenic Agents.
@bubblebustin- I believe that will be the ultimate end game. U.S. persons will either be purposely barred or barred due to an unwillingness of employers to expose themselves to IRS regulations and expenses. There are no financial returns for completing government paper work. And it is very easy and cheaper in the long run to search for none U.S. persons to do a job.
It is funny that the country which believes that it is epitome of the free market doesn’t seem capable of appreciating the fact that it, along with its citizens, particpate in the same international market.
@recalcitrant this is already happening. Americans abroad will simply become a burden on the social welfare systems of their countries of residence.
