Eric Lam says that while the Canada and the United States have a committed marriage trading relationship, this doesn’t stop them from committing affairs with others.

I divorced the US in 1973 due to irreconcilable differences. Now, almost 40 years later, they suddenly don’t recognize the divorce. Unfortunately, they neglected to give me a copy of the divorce degree.
On the day our divorce was final, I stood proud and took strong and committed vows to Canada..
Now, my ex (US) is stalking me to extort alimony and a huge share of assets I accumulated in my happy marriage to Canada.
Canada and I have been faithful to each other for four decades. US is the cheater and harasser. Claiming we are still married is bigamy–which is illegal in both countries.
@ Blaze.
Your analogy is right on!
I made a similar point. The divorce process from the United States is messy:
@Inanightmare: the assets consist of about a $2.6 trillion dollars of real estate, the stalker has a debt of over $15 trillion and unfunded liabilities of around $60 trillion. That means there is less than nothing once all the debts are settled.
@Petros: My grandmother always said “great minds think alike.” She was wise–even though she was American. Unfortunately, IRS didn’t inherit her wisdom genes!

Thanks for your humour. Not alot to laugh about these days, so grateful for any chuckle!

I completely agree….we all need a laugh once in awhile or we will go completely insane!

You should go for alimony and 1/2 the assets! LOL
