“Après l’UBS, les Etats-Unis ont placé d’autres banques dans leur collimateur. Ils ont rechargé leurs canons et finalement décidé de tenter de couler la banque Wegelin.”
“After UBS bank, the United States has placed other banks in their crosshairs; they’ve reloaded their canons and have finally decided to sink [the ship of] Wegelin.”
The military metaphors are strong because the Swiss are beginning to see this as economic warfare. Thus, we are not the only ones who see this as the beginning of a war. Sadly, wars begin with a casus belli, then escalate to armed confrontation. The United States is currently trying to exact tribute, but have not actually occupied very many countries. The question is whether our own countries have the balls to stand up to the US and to avoid paying tribute and thus lose de facto sovereignty to the US.
Wish I were Swiss so that I could vote for them! I have literally become a single issue elector – If your party in any way resists FATCA, FBAR or any other avenue that resists US financial imperialism you will have my vote regardless of what your other policies are…
Here is some more Swiss news in French for those that are interested. Sorry, you’ll have to use Mr. Google if you don’t read French, I don’t have time to translate:

As for Wegelin, they wrote their “Farewell America” letter some time ago. I blogged on it here: http://righteousinvestor.com/2011/04/05/weimar-america-i-its-starting/
