Media and Blog Articles
EmBee suggested that it would be good if there was a thread for new articles, so that people would be aware of where to comment. So, I created this permanent page. You could mention such articles in the comment stream for this page, or if I see one on another thread, I can copy the link to here. I’ll keep adding to the list, but not deleting, so we’ll end up having sort of a “bibliography” of FATCA/CBT articles. [Note: Some articles are not open for comments]
For more articles on FATCA, enter FATCA into Google then click on the link “more news for fatca” just below the most recent featured article.
Note also: JC suggests to see #FATCA on Twitter for latest breaking news. JC finds that is quite a good source and there even are some international articles that one may read using Google Translate.” Others may help certain tweets and articles remain in elevated position by retweeting them.
Be sure to read the comment stream for this thread — there are usually very recent articles mentioned there that aren’t on this list yet.

Hi Jak,
I don’t know the exact question formation but our moderators will definitely be asking the candidates their views on taxation issues that affect Americans abroad as this is a concern for everyone of our members. Thank you for your note! Also, if you’d like to send in your question via Twitter by using #GlobalTownHall and it hasn’t been already asked, it may be chosen during the call as we are hoping to feature at least one twitter question per candidate.
Best, Julia

Hi. If you were on the call, we did specifically ask him that and he is in favor of quickly repealing CBT and getting RBT.

The tweets about Sanders’ statement regarding RBT are tantalizing. I hope someone recorded the video and can share it.

2. RBT: Would you support the replacement of the current system of taxing overseas Americans, known as citizenship-based taxation, with a system of residence-based taxation?
YES
Citizenship-based taxation places an undue burden on U.S. citizens living abroad. In effect, it imposes dual-tax exposure upon individuals who, other than on a limited basis, do not represent an economic burden on the programs and services that our federal government provides. Residence-based taxation reflects one’s rationale contribution to the programs and services that affect the lives of those who reside in any given country and city. As Democrats Abroad so cleverly implies, unless the United States aspires to become the next Eritrea, it is time to join the rest of the world in recognizing the nexus between taxation and the programs and services such monies are meant to fund.
@JakDac,
As soon as democrates work out rich people can leave the US and then realize their capital gains they will be against RBT. When you support high taxes on capital you need to put up barriers to capital flight. CBT is a big barrier and both Sanders and Clinton what higher capital taxes.
????????????
To be clear unlike Bernie (whom on Town Hall stated he supports RBT) she has not indicated her support for RBT correct ?
Cheers,
JD

I can only go by the information on the link I just sent, which indicates she hasn’t taken an official position even though the question was put directly to her.

That’s my interpretation of what’s on our website. I suggest you look for more information on her website or contact her campaign for more information.

JakDac: The “Hilary Clinton” quote you commented with above was actually the words of Rocky de la Fuente, the third and completely unpublicized Democratic candidate who hasn’t a hope of helping us.

How to embed images inside comments?
Thanks, Barbara. As an administrator, I’ve inserted the file by adding to Media files at Brock. I don’t know of a way that a person could actually do that within a comment otherwise — but if anyone knows, let us know.

In this case think dualism, you know black and white, up and down, inner and outer that sort of thing. Our ex-PM Steven Harper was the negative so JT’s team went for the opposite the positive. Canadians love the happy face, the perfectly toothed smile even if it isn’t sincere. With JT and his oh so positive gang it is the same corporate oriented inverted totalitarianism as under Harper just with a happy face slapped on it. JT voted for Bill C-51 our own “I want to be surveilled night and day so I can feel safe & comfy in my 500,000$ middle class Canadian home” and JT signed the TPP trade deal (we just haven’t “ratified” it) all with a smiley face. Right now all the old Liberal party insiders and corporate lobbyists who snuffled around the Liberal trough in the era of Cretien are sidling up to our shiny smiley new PM. I doubt he will let them down-can he in this day and age? His adviser Gerald Butts, his old school chum, is the real brains behind the operation. watch him.
JT is Obama light. There will be no political revolution in Canada under JT’s watch. It’s about power and I suspect JT wants it all. Just with a smiley face. Sounds Orwellian doesn’t it, well it is.
In psychology there is a little ditty called projection where one sees something that draws your emotions strongly either positively or negatively in someone or something else who you don’t really know. What is being registered is a reflection of ones own unconscious psychology seen in an other. Canadians wanted the opposite of Harper and so they projected that on Justin when in fact it was mostly in them. JT’s handlers simply held him up as a mirror to catch our projections. That frankly is what you are seeing in the US elections as well. Until human beings become aware of this process and how the elite use it to manipulate us we’re going down.
This video is an example of the story of our projection simply carried further until it becomes myth, you know something that we can believe in in this age of so little meaning in life.
