UPDATE January 24, 2015: THIRD OF FIVE LEGAL BILLS PAID
[We now have a NEW POST taking us up to May 1, 2015. This post will be retired from service.]
On August 11, 2014, Constitutional Litigator Joseph Arvay filed a FATCA IGA lawsuit in Canada Federal Court on behalf of Plaintiffs Ginny and Gwen, the Alliance for the Defence of Canadian Sovereignty (en français), and all peoples worldwide. Read Alliance’s Claims and comment on our Alliance blog.
Merci !
L’équipe de l’ADSC
———————————————————————————————–
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Together we have reached our goal of paying off the third of five retainer fees for our Canadian FATCA IGA lawsuit.
Raising $300,000 from small donations is a pretty amazing achievement and we ask the Government of Canada, and those other governments who have also tossed away rights of their citizens, to take notice.
It’s still a marathon, but we are more than half way to pay off the Federal Court legal costs.
We have come so far because of our brave Plaintiffs, Ginny and Gwen, our Canadian and International donor-supporters, and the administrators of the Isaac Brock and Maple Sandbox websites who make it possible for our voices to be heard.
Thank you all,
—The ADCS-ADSC team
@Bubblebustin
They probably picked a number from the air just as the US did to say how much they will get with this witch hunt… then back track… In reality… I think they are trying to delay as much as possible so that we either give up or run out of money…
Please donate to this lawsuit… http://www.adcs-adsc.ca/
This is a lawsuit that is happening unlike the other suppose lawsuits… all I hear about those lawsuits is a bunch of lips flapping & nothing to show for it… Even if u are not canadians… we need to show the world… we the little people can & will stop this since no one else is doing anything for us… this not only effects us… don’t forget our future generations whose future may depend on *us* to stop this in its tracks… I am sick & tired of hoping someone will do something… we are now not hoping but grabbing the horns & doing something for all of us… so donate what u can… even if its a few dollars…. some is better then none… Remember…. we are the hope and if nothing is done now…. what other laws will they enact to punish *US persons*
Trish – feel free to take the YouTube I sent and put it anywhere on IBS (or off to others) that you wish. It certainly is a powerful indictment of Harper himself. I’m going to try to get a copy of Michael Harris’ book “Party of One”
Stephen Harper always looks so uncomfortable smiling.

@ US_Foreign_Person “I think they are trying to delay as much as possible so that we either give up or run out of money…”
… or at the very least, kick the can further down the road to stick it to some other people. Some of the Finance Committee M.P.s are supposedly not bidding for re-election. (Wish Harper wasn’t).
So why not flood their attorneys with tens of thousands of documents and run up their legal tab? What do they care? It’s all funded by us Canadian tax-payers, whether we like it or not. We’re not dealing with people who play fair, they’re going to take advantage of their power.
@Jan,
Any government delay (which we are fighting) will not add to our legal costs because we negotiated a flat rate with Mr. Arvay.
Everyone needs to focus on that February 1 retainer bill so that we can continue the fight.
Is there any reason why the mercury is not rising in the thermometer to keep up with the level of donations ? Small matter …. but appearances do count.
@Nervousinvestor,
Yes. The simple reason is that yesterday evening Gwen asked me to ask Tricia to change the thermometer — but I fell asleep early and just forgot. I can update text but lack the skills to alter the level of the thermometer.
Just met with Tricia and have asked her to update thermometer when she gets home.

Just thought everyone would find this link interesting…

It appears that the US may be starting to block renunciants/relinquishers from ever entering the country again. This may be an isolated incident, or, perhaps, part of a new trend. Also, the discussion in the comments section is, sadly, quite typical of what we’ve seen before whenever Homelanders weigh in on these issues. The lack of compassion and the level of misinformation is rather shocking, especially considering that Ars Technica is usually haunted by brighter-than-average science/tech types.
@refugeefromamerica
He was denied a visa due to the fact he is a convicted felon & has really nothing do with him giving up his citizenship.

@US_Foreign_Person
Perhaps that’s the reason, or at least part of it, but he claims that we was turned away because they thought he might try to overstay his visa. Also, the article’s author seems to be implying that he may have renounced his citizenship to avoid US taxes (is this documented somewhere?). It would certainly not be beneath the US to start banning people on this basis.
Just for your information
A person born in the USA CAN NOT enter the US without an american passport
It happened to mayor of London Borris Johnson born in New York in 2006
That’s why he renewed his passport
And now the IRS is after him for taxes wich he said he wouldn’t pay.
Now, what kind of a country is that ?
A dictatorship ?
Steven TRACY,
Re “A person born in the USA CAN NOT enter the US without an american passport”…
It IS the law and Boris Johnson was one that was denied entry, but it is a hit and mostly miss at this point as we have here by many, many reports (especially for land crossings vs travel by air).
@US_Foreign_Person
No, he was denied just because et was born in the USA
Anyone born in the USA must have a US passport tu enter the United States
A foreign passport with a visa doesn’t work
That’ why mayor of London Borris Jognson, born in New York, renewed his US passport in 2006.
And now the IRS is coming after him for taxes on the sale of his house in 2009 and his english income which he said was outrageous and he wouldn’t pay.
@Stephen Kish
I’m also an angry disgusted US citizen living in France since 1975!!!
Over here parlement deputy Frederic Lefebvre is defending dual citizens living in France against FATCA and speaking up in parlement against the IGA agreement signed between France and the US
His blog is : http://www.frederic-lefebvre.org/fatca/
I’ve had a few email exchages with him and he has offered me his support if I need it.
France is the country of human rights
So, I’m Charlie and Vive le France
Obama went to French embassy in washington and said Vive le France
This morning I tweeted this :

@BarackObama #ViveLaFrance yes and shame on #USA for applying #CBT and crafting #FATCA thus descriminating #american #citizens #abroad
Boris was denied boarding by an overly zealous airline employee. he was not denied entry by Homeland Security.

Dig deep ………and keep [digging]
This lawsuit is the one beacon of real hope for change.
Why is there a discrepancy on the donation numbers amount between IBS and Maple Sand Box?
CHeers,
Rocky
Hi Rocky,
Because I haven’t had time to go to Sandbox yet. Brock right now is the most up to date. Will go to Sandbox as soon as I can but there will always be times when Brock is more up to date. It also takes time to update our ADSC site with new amounts as only @GwEvil can do this. We are only an army of a couple.
Cool, I was just curious why there was a difference.
Thanks for the clarification.
Cheers,
Rocky
just got back from sending in another contribution and while standing in line in “my” canada post office the weird thought struck me……here i am standing in a gov’t business mailing a money order to fight “my” gov’t for not standing up for me as a citizen against another countries claim on me as their taxable person.
then i got pissed off and resolved to dig a bit deeper and make another contribution before the feb 1st deadline and make “my” gov’t pay for what they have done to me as a CITZEN of CANADA.
@ crystal london
Thank you for your out-of-pension donations and I really dig your beacon metaphor.
@ mettleman
Add to the absurdity the fact that the gov’t is using taxpayer’s money (that’s yours too) to defend itself from this lawsuit which you are helping to fund and it just boggles the mind.
mettleman,
Thanks for being a pissed-off Canadian citizen standing up for what you know is the wrong that has been done. For adcs-adsc, I will be scraping a little deeper before the end of this month as well. Thanks for having the bravery to stand up for what you believe in, being a voice for others not so strong.
